Now that is an interesting little guy.  A snail hunter with a mushroom cap.  What a neat garden gnome.  Your own art?

Nah, I didn't create that little fellow, found him somewhere on the net and I fell in love with him right away. Kinda cute, I think. ;)

Couldn't agree more, Fred.  That is the definition of cute.

A family of GT-R's*

That sound's quite plausible. It could also be the sign of someone with to much time on their hands.

It's so nice to have a clean desktop. It was a complete nightmare before this.

I have no idea where I got the inspiration to make this, but I pumped it out in one go on GIMP.

Hey look, I have an A.I. in my computer. A pretty one to be honest :D

I cant take a srceeny of my desktop atm as my pc is undergoing maintenance (or better, one ram stick died on me, I have to send in all the ram for a replacement and I don't have no alternatives), but I can happily explain it:
08507eff_naamloossi.png

this picture and NOTHING else. no files no nothing, unless it's a recent download - which I route to my desktop - or somehow else in use and not archived yet.

I like it neat and clean... and I really really really like this picture.

@DarthApple:  Too cluttered.  I prefer as little as possible on the desktop, which is why I use the menu applet.

I suppose not having the launcher visible would help. I'm using an extension that allows it to be access without the activities panel, but it autohides by default if anything is open, which helps. I don't really use the desktop often, but I suppose I like having something other than blank space to stare at when I do see the desktop. I'm stubborn like that.  :P

One thing that I like about Gnome 3 is that the workspaces actually work properly. In unity, I don't see the purpose of having the workspaces at all because of how they are implemented, but unity's interface is simpler and more straightforward in some other respects. Overall, I like both environments, and find it hard to really decide which I prefer.

I take the unity desktop because I am too jaded to bother with anything else.  I've been in the computer business since 1962 and for me retired really does mean retired.  Initially, it was hard to let go, but since I am no longer in the rat race, I've really lost touch with the bleeding edge.

After recently buying a great new computer, I loaded up SimCity 4 (and downloaded a ton of mods that would've made my 12-year-old computer chug), and I'm playing again after a long time away.  I hopped on here to look up something about the EQ, and I came across this thread in the search list.

So, for years of helpful info and some great add-ons that I'm really getting a kick out of playing, I figured there might be some here that might appreciate my current desktop (it rotates) as a small thank you :)

@SA: What are the dimensions and resolution of your screen?

3840x1080 - it's a dual-screen setup. Windows 8.1's multi-monitor support is far, far superior to that of Windows 7.

Nine degrees of separation??
