My desktop is quite cluttered, but my W8.1 start screen is quite nice if I say so myself:

Nice job with the icons!

Thanks! A few of them were hand-made by tracing silhouettes over logos, which explains why the sizes aren't consistent. Someday I'll get around to fixing that.

I change little, but some programs are replaced. The wallpaper tradition still remains. So there is only one thing I can say, do not back down from a challenge.

The world is what you make of it, no matter what others say or do, you are still responsible for what you do.

Finding a way to criticize everything is a waste of time and effort that can be used to do something enjoyable.

A few new scenes were added to the theme cycle:

The original Byodo-in at Uji

Byodo-in, Uji

The replica Byodo-in on Oahu

Byodo-in, Oahu

The Orion Nebula

Orion Nebula

The North American Nebula

North American Nebula

I know, I am boring...I haven't changed desktop icons, layouts, or even programs much in years.  Yes, that is Civ III still up there.  Even those GoPro Studio and Google Earth Pro shortcuts will only be temporary.

I just figured out how to add multiple accounts to my Surface Pro 3 so I promptly set up an account linked to my student email (which is handled by Microsoft, making that easy) and a "child account" called 'Limited Guest' without an email address and a simple password. I moved the school-related files from the administrator account to the standard account for school. I logged out of my student account on my apps in the administrator account (with only my personal live email logged in) and logged into my student account on office, mail, and outlook from my standard/student account. I changed the desktop background in my main account to photos of Seattle's skyline and the desktop of my student account to photos of Pullman, the surrounding area, and the most scenic parts of the Palouse. I also changed the theme of the new account to use crimson as the primary color and grey as the accent color. I kept the colors as my favorite teal and cyan on my main account.

I would show you screenshots but I don't have my keyboard on me.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

It's actually very easy to make screenshots on the Surface Pro without keyboard, just press volume down + Windows key and it saves a screenshot in Pictures/Screenshots :)

That is certainly not intuitive.  Who would expect sound controls to have anything to do with screen shots?  Give me a keyboard anytime.

Not my desktop, but my dad's one (characteristically wallpapered with starry skies), full of my files and shortcuts and his spredsheets and folders. Since my notebook has a broken hinge and is too old to run Simcity 4, I use this to play.

Actually, that is a very nice desktop.  The only thing to consider is it is rather cluttered with all those icons.  Any that are not used on a daily basis could be dragged into one or more folders on the desktop to let more of the background show.  Look at any of mine and you'll see a folder called Wine Drops which is where I keep the initiation shortcuts for anything installed in wine.

Since I've pretty much gone to custom links in my launchers bar, it is hardly ever used.  I have a script that creates new launch entries.  The launcher is hidden unless you move over the left side of the screen.  They say a clean desk top is the sign of a sick mind.  As an example, here is my current desktop with the launcher showing:

Well, the "cosas escritorio" folder (created to store unused spare desktop) is about 3 Gb, so it looks incredibly uncluttered to me...

And the application icons stays there forever because is a shared computer, and if I change something, my family wouldn't know where to find it and inevitably will phone me even when in classes.

A shared computer?  Well, I certainly hope that each user has his own account and that the accounts are passworded.

This is a shot of my late wife with the two red setters we had at that time (1991).  Hope she picked them up at the Rainbow Bridge.  She passed away in August 2007.
