Since I don't want to clog a post with too many images... if anyone's interested in modeling specific styles of Ontario, Canada homes for me for SC4 and, if possible, Cities Skylines, send me a PM and I'll give you the details.

Has anyone made the Library of Congress building in Washington DC? Also known as the Thomas Jefferson Building, it was built in the 1890s.

Hey I'm currently trying to go for a neon/cyberpunk look and I'm finding that I'm struggling finding BATs with the large loud signage that's normally indictive of this style (HK, New York, Korea, Sao Plao Tokyo) I've noticed a ton of big glass highrises but not an abundance midrises while I'm able to find a bat here and there, their missing the loud signage and visual flair that these high foottraffic area have

This is the vibe I'm looking for:1331443426_015fe021ee_b.jpg

I'm in particular looking for loud neon signage and little to no room for parking, I can't really seem to find one besides the same 4-6 BATs everyone uses

Though I'd like to request 2 buildings in particular:
AN OG Club Sega they are very compact arcades 3-6 story midrises, in iconic bright red buildings1kpvaq.png

As well as
The Hermes flagship in Ginza A gorgeous 9 story glassblock tower that was build in '01

Thanks a bunch have a nice day

There's a reasonable amount of buildings with loud neon signs etc, I assume you've already found this?

Someone should definitely make additional road decorations like this though, in a variety of sizes etc. Possibly it could be done with existing props even, I just have no idea how to do the modding/transit-enabling/matching texture overrides part.

No i didn't, thank you I downloaded, yeah I was looking for stuff that was preafixed to the facade or the building or even a protentional set of growables/replacement tiles that are more walkable (visually)

Idk it was crazy I couldn't find many neon building point blank period, the only big one I found was times square. I looked for:
Picidily Square (london)
The Flamingo (Vegas)
Four Queens (vegas)
Think the vibe that you get when walking freemont street in vegas, or Miami Beach in Miami

I was looking for more neon cause I'm going for a very walkable city, neon is indicative of that since it was used to draw people into the buildings, (but also googie signage too, but I'm not going for the 50s look) idk it's hard finding the era and vibe I'm looking for, not complaining just an observation. I love the international style but a lot of BaT i've noticed are that, that or more ornate European stuff. I'm looking for grungy and run down like the city is older than anyone living within it feeling. Lots of history throughout it. Hence why I wanted it attached to the facade of the building, plus it's easier and less ram heavy since it's not loading new objects.I know there's tons of gas stations and casinos but I'm going I'm looking for less parking lot space/overall building footprint. idk I'm looking for a very particualr vibe for my city

Thank you again, I'll def add those files you linked to my game

The vast majority of the neon-lighted buildings people have made are from East Asia, with about an even mix of Korean/Chinese/Japanese. So if you're ok with a primarily Asian multicultural city there's quite a bit of content. I know what you mean though, especially with midrises it's hard to put together a sufficiently chaotic-looking downtown area from any other country, especially with signs, powerlines, etc overhanging roads and alleyways.

Since BAT4Blender isn't working for me and I have no other way of exporting... is someone willing to take my models, convert them to SC4Files (with either BAT4Blender or BAT4Max, because you can probably export a file from Blender to open in 3DSMax and use BAT4Max,) then send the SC4Files to me so I can upload them to the STEX?

Edit: I also want to know so I can keep working on the models. Please.

I've got an interesting request: I would like a completed version of the MetLife building in NYC:

a sketch, model, and render of how it'd look if it were completed and seen today:

90Grados is the architectural rendering studio that made those models, I wonder if they still have them, and if they would be interested on contributing them for the game...

I looked around and nobody's made these for SC4 yet: the Kuwait Towers which are both visually striking and some of the tallest water towers in the world.

Following the chat i had on the Modding Requests thread, i was told to make these requests here...

Basically, i'm looking for someone that would do the Trensurb (Greater Porto Alegre/Brazil suburban train) stations to either El-Rail or regular (RRW?) rail.

More info about this network is on the linked post on the other forum, but basically the stations came in a couple of layouts:

  • The older stations were mostly ground-level, a central platform where the passengers disembark and take stairs to the second floor where after passing the turnstiles they exit the station via footbridges that go over the adjacent road/avenue.

26_big.jpg.1bad93cc97f08d3c5b18764482c81b97.jpgANPTrilhos-Trensurb.jpg.0bb684e951c2dc8dece9063bab02c497.jpg

32_big.jpg.56ca4a467492154aeb7ccb221e2cd430.jpg

  • Also among those earlier stations there was a unique elevated one (Farrapos) that have a cool design (pass over an avenue):

77247053_2374556716095185_5900951448824315904_n.jpg.e39a3eeecad3d9f0609b26d8f2832c5c.jpg

5029938_75e95952bb516a4.jpg.0f7a31e2071c9ac50c6728ebe9813554.jpg

  • And finally the newer station set, all elevated, that are only different by the color scheme that follow the overall white:

OIP.jpg.cee9d608acc6b0743d67fab89d5618b9.jpg.f9204d2b9f47665f41b86fdfa6df50e0.jpg

Info about all the stations on the system

I'm surprised nobody's made the Rainier Tower in Seattle as a landmark or something. It has a very distinctive inverted pyramid base. Consider this my request for it.

Continuing on from my previous post, I'm surprised there isn't a good landmark version of London's 30 St Mary Axe (AKA The Gherkin) on the STEX. There's an upload of 122 Leadenhall Street (AKA The Cheesegrater) from almost 20 years ago, before the building in question was even completed, so that's probably ripe for an updated version. Same thing for 110 Bishopsgate (AKA Heron Tower).

I'm gonna go ahead and also request someone do the Willis Building (not to be confused with the Willis Tower in Chicago) and The Scalpel, two more distinctive London skyscrapers, as well as the ArcelorMittal Orbit which is a sculpture and observation tower built in London for the 2012 Olympics.

Also, the Tokyo Skytree, which again is surprising to not see on the STEX, and Kingsley Elementary School in Los Angeles, which was what replaced Hollywood Star Lanes, which inspired the Sobchak Lanes DLC landmark.

That's the MP Toys R Us Times Square by Goofyguytpa:

It's just a landmark but with a little bit of editing in PIM-X you can turn it into a big commercial services toystore.

I used to go there all the time.  It was in Times Square. It even had a ferris wheel inside (the store was gigantic).  Sadly, it's now been replaced by a chain clothing store.  Their lego selection was huge at the time and they had a model lego Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty.  I also recall they had an almost life size working T-Rex robot at one point (it roared, didn't walk).  It's a real shame that stores like that are obsolete now.  Simcity4 is really a look into the past, as big cities are likely obsolete soon too.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-nuclear-reactor-gentilly-2-1.6932355

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-s-gentilly-2-nuclear-plant-shuts-down-after-29-years-1.1159855

Gentilly Nuclear Power Station

On the banks of the Saint-Lawrence river in Canada sits the now dormant Gentilly power plant. Originally Quebec's only nuclear power plant, Gentilly houses two CANDU1 reactors, Gentilly-1, a prototype CANDU-BWR2 that was permanently shut down early on and Gentilly-2, a classic CANDU-PHWR3, the workhorse of the facility. Commissioned by Hydro-Québec, the state-owned utility company, Gentilly-2 churned out carbon-free electricity from 1983 to 2012 until the provincial government decided to have it permanently shut down and decommissioned due to refurbishing costs. But with Quebec's ever-increasing for electricity and worries about climate change, Hydro-Québec is seriously considering  reopening it by 2035.

Enough history, I'd just really love a nuclear power plant loosely based on the installations at Gentilly, no need to make it an exact replica (though that would be awesome). The plant could even require water connection (like a beach or seaport) to simulate how it has no cooling tower and relies on the Saint-Lawrence river for cooling.

1 CANadian Deuterium Uranium, a type of nuclear reactor relying on pressurized heavy water and unenriched uranium.

2 Boiling Water Reactor, where the water turns to steam inside the reactor vessel. Gentilly-1 was an attempt at a non-pressurized heavy water reactor.

3 Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor, pressurized means the water can't turn into steam in the reactor, heavy water is water with deuterium (a heavier isotope of hydrogen) instead of hydrogen. Think D2O instead of H2O

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentilly_Nuclear_Generating_Station

Google Map

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

There is a dearth of nuclear power-related plugins (apart from Paeng's modular pack and a few relots here and there), and the Gentilly power station looks visually different from the Maxis nuclear power plant. It's also an opportunity to make a more realistic power plant that won't explode like a nuclear bomb the moment it gets looked at funny.

Another building that was uploaded 20 years ago and ripe for a revamp is BNY Mellon Center (formerly One Mellon Center) in Pittsburgh.

Edit: I'd also like to request the Time and Temperature Building in Portland, ME. It would make for a good landmark or Chicago 1890 growable.

When thinking about dutch bats you naturaly go for like merchant houses along canals. The Haghue too have some canals with these but the inner governmental and off canals area have a more art neo modernist style. These are three or four story blocks a napelonic french infulence !

Would love to see something like that in SimCity 4 it may be little ordinaire ! Justforfun make similair Bat´s but english style isn´t what I am looking for more french modernisme influence. Hope shared a light on  these neo french  style buildings !

I'm working on a storyline for a CJ and it would really help me if I had a mobile video wall / led screen trailer in-game. Something like:

SAM_0439-copy.jpg

or:

skyvision-trailer-led-main.jpg

More inspiration here: https://www.european-show-equipment.com/en/portfolio-item/mobile-led-screen-rental/

I would be awesome to have something like that, including a black/off version to easily photoshop custom graphics on it for a CJ. (or even better: a semi-noob-proof way to alter a texture.)

Assuming that there isn't something like this out there already, is someone willing to take up this challenge? Bonus kudos for HD and DN.

After 20+ years, why don't we have any

Garden Apartments?

690e37a57ca14_garden2.jpg.a5cde73d1928eee546db693ce52949f9.jpg

These are all over the united states, thousands of these developments are in our towns and cities. Chances are, if you're American, you've seen them or lived in one.

They provide excellent missing middle suburban density, and are well-suited for larger lots like 4x4, 6x6, etc.

For inspiration, visit this list of over 1000 garden apartment sites across the USA.

690e38db4594b_garden5.jpg.da4cb7f65919217d12fe09d4b363c175.jpg

Love this Northeastern style with communal wooded courtyards.

Dumpier versions can be found strewn along highways like US-46, in Lodi, NJ.

Some very ritzy versions exist, like along Cedar Lane in Teaneck - or Palisade Ave in Englewood Cliffs, also in NJ.

Find entire neighborhoods of these in NYC, like Bell Park Gardens or this one in NJ nearby the highway.

Most common are little one-offs on small lots, in towns.

Also common - sprawling public housing projects!

I have lost my free time to model lately - but would love for someone to invest a little of theirs, making a beautiful set of models!

Thanks for hearing my plea.
