Hi, I'm working on a Gotham City project for SC4 and can't find any Gothic-style buildings (not just cathedrals), particularly with gargoyles. I don't know how hard it is to do that, because I don't have the software or even know-how on using the BAT.

I would really like to see some Tim Burton-inspired buildings like in the 1989 Batman film. Can anyone help point me in the right direction or better yet, design something like that for download? I plan on learning how to use the "BAT"... tool to create my own Gotham stuff one day, but I know there are some veterans on Simtropolis that'd do it way better than I ever could. Any replies/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, kschmidt, you were very helpful. I don't know if you saw the post before the one you quoted, but I had specific pictures of the buildings and the look I'm going for.  I'd consider it outside of the average bat's, because trust me, I've searched and searched on here and SC4Devotion and have found nothing even close.

Thank you, 20huskies! I've already downloaded your bat signal file and plan to put it to good use.

Searching for BATs to fit a specific scenario is always a difficult task. Even more so when pertaining to a movie. Can I suggest that maybe you're looking in the wrong place. Instead of Commercial buildings, maybe you should be looking in Industrial.

In movies like Darkman and Robocop, they had refineries and such, mixed in with skyscrapers, to get a futuristic steampunk feel to the settings. And we have a bunch of factories that would easily give off that vibe.

How about this?

unfortunately there aren’t too many Pittsburgh BATs like this one.  Pittsburgh is a Mecca of gothic architecture and that’s made it a go to for Batman filming sets in the past.

Maybe I will finally get PPG place done now that I am talking about this.

PPG Pl looks pretty cool, man! The glass spires would go nicely in my Gotham project. I'll look into more Pittsburg files. I didn't think of those, so thank you!

Oh man, they've got some really good stuff on their page. I especially like the Budapest train station and the Philidelphia City Hall. Even though I've been searching on my own for so long, I've never seen Debussymsn's files before, so thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I'm glad I had the nerve to ask on this forum. I've been playing SimCity 4 for almost 20 years off and on now, but I've never known anyone in real life that loves the game the way I do. It's nice that there is a community for it.

Specialized lots request !

Most released work for today are either american or european, skyscraper or commercial lots. Asia, south America are well served. Middle East there some desert and mesapotamia and egyptian lots or desert lots. Africa South African landmarks and some traditional lots like huts and mmp´s would be welcome. South and middle america with Walibuk and several authors well presented. Europe trraditonaly got lots of north, eastern europe, germanic, italien, slavic, spanish sets. Higher you get germanic timber houses are more replaced with giant traditional chalets houses  and hotels, these are except some basic models very rare !

Sample french chalets and there´s a swiss chalet station with some issues, great variety shape, size  ?

Enjoy !

Some planned BATs from me might be helpful.

While I won't make specifically German, Austrian, Swiss etc ones. I do have plans to make hotels, rental cabins, storehouses, etc based on stuff you'd typically find in Norway.

Maybe this will be helpful when it's done? =)

these will all be much appreciated and essential additions to the SC4 Scandinavian landscape  I love your choices and hopefully will also see some waterfront buildings as I believe most Norwegian towns and cities have significant waterfront presence   thank you for returning to SC4

Once more I feel the necessity to point out the actual intended purpose of this thread.

A user MAY request a BAT to be created, but there is absolutely zero formal process now or ever, that will lead to the creation of such requests. IF another user comes across your post and wants to make the model requested, then MAYBE this will serve as a form of inspiration for them to create it.

Making a large model from scratch is a complex and time-consuming process, so it's not like a BAT request is a small favour or a little bit of someone's time. As such, the assumption should be that whilst you can suggest something, practically speaking it's unlikely anyone will actually make your model. If by good fortune someone is willing to put many hours of work into creating something suggested here, that's a bonus. But it's important to understand just how much of someone's time you are asking for, because that is also why hardly any such requests ever go anywhere.

It is very rare any requests get further than the request itself and if history is any guide, expectations should be kept extremely low in this regard.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Request: Urban W2W Grocery Stores

Why it would be beneficial to have in SC4: There are tons of grocery stores on Simtropolis, but almost all of them are designed to go in a suburban style environment. But urban sims need to eat, too!

I've looked around for urban grocery stores and the only one I am aware of is a Sainsbury's by SimGoober, but it would be nice to have some more variety in the game. I'm looking for a W2W-style lot that has parking incorporated into the building as a parking deck rather than being a separate sea of parking in front.

Here are a few pictures of what I am thinking of, for inspiration:

Thanks for sharing your file! These stores will look nice in some of my immigrant neighborhoods.

But yes, ideally I am looking for supermarkets that are at least a few stories tall and don't have a huge parking lot in front, maybe with a few other storefronts mixed into the building like an urban shopping center. I feel like there's a lack of this kind of mid-rise commercial development on the STEX, so it would be cool to have more options in this regard.

Request: North Korean Buildings

Could any of you modders create buildings from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), because they have some of the most beautiful buildings in the country, so we could those in our own cities?

Note: The flags, Kim portraits, banners, propaganda slogans, and posters will become aesthetics for who want to add them.

Has anyone suggested the Amazon Spheres in Downtown Seattle? If anyone could do it, it's one of you talented folks. Also the Downtown Seattle Nordstrom would be a great addition too. Could always use more urban/downtown retail with signage.

I would like to share with you a sea theme BAT request.

I am not sure if anyone did a floating villa already. (if do, please tell me)

Imagine a vacation day, where you live above the sea, enjoy the sea breeze, the gentle sound of sea wave rocking you to sleep.

We already has some beach theme hotel towers (such as Various Puerto Vallarta beach hotels by Diego), but not a sea villa.

Introduce Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson:

Floor plans for each type of chalet is available in their website.

Doing the whole place would be a radical idea, but maybe we can start with small unit first, and first getting into something basic like this:
