Welcome to Page 539.gif

I always love transportation maps, so I'll be eager to check that out.

It would be nice to see the surrounding countryside filled in with trees, mountains, rivers, etc.

With the beginning of Page 5 I have UPDATE 9.  Replies to comments first.

dfnva: Thanks for the comment and my first page starter!  I`ll have the transportation map up soon or if you are eager to see it PM me.  Hope you enjoy this update.

Urban23: Congratulations on your first comment.  Although that seems like an excellent idea my region does not have mountains for a couple km`s outside of the city.  It is not uncommon for cities to be built on plains.  After all its the most efficient way.  As for the rivers..well I do have one river and if you even look on Google maps at some places (say southern Alberta...).  There are not rivers every kilometer or so.  Trees are sparse in my region.  As I move further west you will see more vegetation.  However, welcome to ST

For the rest of you here is Update 9.

Wow, downtown looks great in the rain. The nightshot with the lightning strike is beautiful. The news ticker is a great way of presenting this kind of update. I like the way you do the damage (image manipilation i'm guessing (?)).

A fun update! Good work on the effects. Here, you'd have trees down everywhere. But, we need the rain - down 24 in/60 cm in 2 years.

WoW that region view is amazing, as well as the photoshopping. The city looks really nice, an interesting texture for the region, is this a southwestern city? Anyway a really nice job overall so far, keep it up!

As always, your photoshop effects come second to none. Great work with the storm's effects on the city too!

That planned area looks very nice. I can't wait to see it built!

And what an explosion of comments on here!

Well this is no update....yet, just some replies to your comments.  The airport is 75% done I would say.

    revelstokelogofj6.jpg

Ntq$310: Thanks for the comments, the thunderstorm effects did take awhile to perfect.

anarchy0029: Thanks for the comments and I'm glad you like my news ticker manipulation.  I hope you will like the airport!

jacqulina: Thanks for your comments as always.  The planning takes awhile too but it helps bring out realism.

psander5: Thanks for your comments.  My favourite shot is the downtown in the rain with lightning striking Mcallum Hill Offices.  And yes the damage was from image manipulation.

Simtastico: Thanks for your comment!.  Im really glad you liked both the news, weather, and region.

Schulmanator: Thanks for the comments.  and I'm glad you like the effects.  They took a long long time.  I'm pretty sure in Regina there would be trees down too.  We have enough rain here though.  It's been a hot stormy summer.

PhatHead: Thanks for the comments.  Professionalism helps to add to realism; especially in this sort of an update.  I'm glad someone laughed at the comment of "actual zones may vary".

GreekMan:  Thanks for the comment.  The photos as I have said before have taken awhile to perfect.

dfnva: Thanks for stopping by and commenting Dan.  I'm glad to read that you have liked my photo shopping over these last updates.  I hope you will be commenting on the airport.

sedimenjerry:  Thanks for the comment.  Hope you like the airport.

MTLT_17:  Thanks for the comments Marshall.  How could it look too real? Haha yeah working at YQR has helped a lot.  Regina has a small one.

Amerikaner:  Thanks for your comment.  That's one of my goals: to have one of the best region shots.  As for photoshopping, well I couldn't post an image that wasn't.  It all ads to the presentation.    Revelstoke isn't a Southwestern City.  Think of Alberta (southern).

haljackey:  Ahh, finally some real praise for these PS effects.  Glad you have liked these past few updates and the storm.  I have been playing around with the RHW and plan to upgrade the highway system soon!

As for everyone else if you haven't comment please do so I would like some more feedback.  I will have the airport update coming soon.  Thanks!

    Cheers.

Alas, after a week without an update here is Update number 10.  It's not large but keep in mind that custom airports are not easy to make.

    revelstokelogoiz0.jpg

So before I post some pictures I will reply to some comments first.

jacqulina: Thanks again for your comments as always.

masochist: Thanks for the comment.  And let me just say WOW thanks for featuring me on your blog.  ALL of that is really nice of you.  And thanks for everything.  I hope to read some more of your comments.  Thanks again masochist.

Retrodude818: Thanks for the comment and it's great that you love my CJ.  I will be continuing this for quite awhile just not daily updates like in the beginning.  I'm glad you like the logo PS is excellent.

penguin007:  Thanks for the comment.  I'm glad you like the effects that I have applied to my photos to achieve rain and lightning.  It's not that complex but it does take some time.

For the rest of you that have been anticipating this update here is Revelstoke International Airport.

I hope you all enjoyed this short but successful update.  Remember that custom airports take a lot of planning and trial and error runs.  As always comments are highly appreciated.

    Cheers.

Haha well I think you have certainly gotten close to having the best region view, its amazing to look at. The airport is about as interesting as well, NEVER seen one built in the same form, haha seems more like a huge maze! 3.gif Really an excellent job, although you do need to take the grid off.

Wow! Nice airport! I totally agree, making custom airports is just a PAIN! But the end result looks so GOOD!

-I also like how you placed the roads and infrastructure near the airport. It looks well designed.

Also, deer foot trail looks to be a good link between the airport and the city. Also, it will help in the long term as your ever-expanding region continues to grow.

    I'll be back for more!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

First and foremost, beautiful airport. Do you have perimeter fencing (which would be a nightmare to put in, but improves the close-ups)?

Will the Deerfoot Trail be a highway or avenue (or RHP)? If the former, you might want another route into Downtown, since the heavier volumes would then be on the lower-grade road.

I like the asymmetrical, angled terminal, which really gives the impression of an evolving facility. Airports take a very long time, and are difficult to do well. I like this one a lot.
