First of all I would like to welcome fellow Simtropolitians to my City Journal: Revelstoke County & Surrounding areas.  ANY comment on here is highly appreciated however; there is one thing I will ask of the commenter’s.  Please don’t criticize my work, instead develop it into constructive criticism.  No one likes to have negative comments because it looks bad both on your part and mine.  I have gone through a lot of custom work developing my region so as I will say this many times, comments are highly appreciated as it shows that I have some viewers.  The city journal thread is by far the most popular and active forum on this site so I will understand if this CJ has a lack of comments since I have seen some of the most creative work to compete against. Many of you start out with a big bang showing off your astounding works, while some of you develop an intriguing storyline.  Well, I would like to do both of those but first of all I would like you to know about the author behind this piece of art: Riley J. Riffel.

Excellent presentation. The region view looks great. I always like to see 'stepped' roads in the region view, and if I squint, i can ignore them in the city view lol. Good effort. I agree with hunkske re the newspaper... and the weather! I want to move in!

Well that was a nice set of replies...who's ready for replies first tho?

    revelstokelogoko5.jpg

oceanmariner: thanks for the comments, I picked the terrain out after testing a few.  I'm glad you like it.  Here's another update.

hunkske: thanks for the comments, and for the appreciation of the post.  It took a good couple hours to finally format it the way I wanted.  I'm looking forward to more comments.

Twenty20: thanks for the comments, I hope you like this update because it has a lot of pictures.  I'm glad people are liking the terrain mod I have choosen.  I thought I was taking a risk but it was worth it!

Schulmanator: thanks for the comments, heres update number 2!

psander5: thanks for the comments, "Stepped roads" are always excellent to integrate into the game.  It really represents customization.  Especially in the region view.  As for city view it dosen't look half bad.  It's SC4's way of curved roads3.gif.  I did another issue of Revelstoke Post too.

Nexis: thanks for the comments, it's nice to see you commenting on my CJ.  If you look at the region view next to Springside Park there is a mall.  Not mega but a contemporary box store suburban mall.

jacqulina: thanks for your comments, your always the friendliest forumer!  I hope you enjoy this update.

And I ain't kidding.  rusty_777, this has got to be one of THE BEST introductions I have ever seen for a CJ.  I am at such a loss for words right now, and besides I don't even know where to begin.

I'm hooked.  The clean, impressive presentation of your work is simply outstanding.  I can clearly see that you took your time with this (saying you played SC4 back in 2003 and becoming a member in 2005).  I have found that experience is everything when it comes to making a breathtaking CJ and Revelstoke certainly has it.

One thing I've noticed at first glance that this CJ could benefit from:

-I see you are using one way roads for your highway system, and that you have a good amount of open space around it.  I would suggest turning it into a RHW network (links in my signature) that will not only enhance the visual appearance of the highway, but also its functionality (higher speed and capacity than one-ways).

Don't worry, I'll be back for more.  Until then, keep up the amazing work!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

haljackey: thanks for your comments and I like your length to it.  The rural highway is really innovative however there is one downside to it: you cannot see it in the region view.

You can see it in the region view, however, it is the transportation view that you cannot see it in.

In the region view the only thing I would change is the beach mod. It really sticks out against the painted desert terrain mod (I assume that's what it is...3.gif). Up close I can't really find anything that bothers me. Your downtown is perfect for a city that size too.2.gif

    I'll be back...3.gif

awesome cj. your choice of buildings is unique and even your streets with the seasonal trees blend well with your houses.

your park you have is well done and your stadium too. your roads are done realistic ad really well too.

get that region growing and especially get a city in there and youll have a great cj. good work

I really like the water you have alongside your stadium district, looks very real. Can you point me in the right direction?

Overall the city looks great, I really like the night view

housefish17: thanks for the comments, the water located in Springside Park is located in the STEX. However if you search for the key words being PEG pond you can search and download a variety of packs that allow you to have realistic ponds, lakes, and even streams! Enjoy and email me if you have any questions. Welcome to ST by the way,

    Cheers.

Well, done! The region view makes this city look so bland, but it has a lot more life to it than I perceived from that. As a whole, it looks pretty good! I know what its like having minimal comments too, it happens to the best of us =P!

Your photoshopped image looks quite interesting.  Seems like everything is blended together.  Nice work!

Ah, quite right, but only in the transportation view like Godzillaman stated.  I have not seen a transportation view yet but if you are planning to use one,  there are actually 3 ways around it.

    1.  The RHW actually shows up as thin, green lines with the latest version.

    2.  Using the drawpaths cheat can allow you to see the network from region transportation view.

    3.  You can always "fill in" the void easily by just drawing a line where the network is in your photo in paint or photoshop.

With the way your network is set up, I would highly recommend you to use the RHW.

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Thanks for the comments everyone, even the views.  Now time for replies:

jutrock: Thanks for the comments.  I'm glad you like it.  Some of the industry is commercial box stores.  Hard to distinguish in the region view though.

haljackey: Thanks for the comments, as for the RHW I am now considering it.  ANy other infor please post here, PM me, or email me.  I really appreciate your comment by the way.  It has inspired me to do a little more.  Talk to you soon.

Godsillaman: Thanks for the comments, but I really did mean transport map too but instead I said region view.  Don't tell me you have mixed the two up once or twice by accident haha.  Thanks for the comment about the downtown.  As you can see below it made me play around with the previous picture of downtown.

jacqulina: Thanks for the comments once again, it's nice to see you reading my CJ.  You don't realize how much it is appreciated.    Unfortunately I have not created a new newspaper this update but I have something else.  I hope you enjoy it!

sc4portugal: Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you think it's that good.

fabsies55: Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you like my choice of building off the STEX and the use of seasonal trees.  The park took a long time to perfect so I'm glad you like it.  As my city progresses you will notice the grid of the city become less and less apparent.

1ajs: Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you commented.  I hope you enjoy this update.

Schulmanator: Thanks for the comments, I hope you enjoy update number 3.  Pretty soon this will have to be considered a city though.

housefish: Thanks for the comments, the water is on the STEX under the key words "PEG pond".  I'm glad you like my choice of night view.  The night lighting mod is excellent by the way.

SimHoTToDDy: Thanks for the comments, and it is hard to make a city in the beginning stages look exciting in the region view.  I must add that by adding Springside Park it added a great level of detail to the region picture.  Enjoy update number 3 and at least I'm getting some comments.

MTLT_17: Thanks for the comments, it was nice to meet someone else from Regina by the way.  I'll talk to you soon.

Alright now that we're done with replied to comments here is Update 3.  There isn't as much pictures as my previous one because I have been working on developing my new areas.  I also have a newsletter I have created.  It is separate from Revelstoke Post.

I love how you see the very small and very big things in your city (region shots, and single buildings)
