If you get a red cursor, then the culprit is an outdated mod that affects the functionality of the NAM - there is no other reason for this (except unsuitable terrain, but I assume you didn't try to place them on the water or on a steep cliff 2.gif ). Please read the troubleshooting guide that is included in the "readme first" file of the NAM download, it will give you some hints how to find the offending mod.

I can't download the new NAM from sc4devotion.com for some reason. I'm a member on the site, but no download link appears. I can read the comments and see the details of the download, but there is no download link. Can someone send me the exact URL for the download or something?

You have to register for the LEX in order to download files.  Being registered at SC4D alone is not enough, but you will use the same user and password for the exchange once registered.

You register HERE.

Use the POWER SEARCH function on the LEX and set LEX Category = NAM to find the various NAM files.  There are a few add-ons in addition to the main NAM.

one thing that you guys can fix is the avenue and ground/elevated highway exits. when your driving on an ave and want to get on the highway but you have to make a left turn, it wont let you. it will just keep driving when theres a little entrance to get on the highway when say your going north and want to get on the westbound side of the higway, it wont let you turn onto it and the little road is there. do you get what i'm saying?

one request i have is to make an elevated subway above an ave but with 4 tracks so you could have your local (2 tracks on the farthest side) and express lines (the 2 tracks in between). there would also need to be stations to accomidate this such as a local/express stop or a local only stop and also, the tracks could split and go into other directions like say the express line that was express on the ave is now local as it splits from the original track and goes into another direction. also, a two track elevated subway above an aveune would also be nice so from a 4 track, it could turn into a 2 track. do you get what i'm saying?

also, another question of mine, i have the april 2008 nam but i also have the june 2007 name. is it okay if i can delete the june 2007 nam since i have the updated version? or should i keep that one as well?

NEED HELP!!!

Some of the transportation icons that came with the NAM don't work, for example selecting the avenue roundabout gives me a red mouse pointer instead of a roundabout.  This problem affects close to half of the icons that came with NAM.

I seem to remember the underground (under road) heavy rail pieces used to have stations included, what happened to them? Am I just missing something?

@dahood: Yes, please delete the old version, the April 2008 NAM is a completely new version. We released an update back in January 2008 that required the June 2007 version, but since lots of things have changed in the files lately, we decided to do another full release.

@Artamis: As it has been said many times, you have a conflicting file in your plugins folder, such as an outdated NAM or another transit-related mod that also contains a copy of the files that were placed in the NAM Controller. Please have a look at the "read me first" file for a troubleshooting guide.

@HuskerDude: There are no stations included in the NAM. However, you can use any of the available rail stations and place them next to the underground rail pieces (the in-game station works fine, because it doesn't have rail textures on the lot, like many custom stations).

I just downloaded the new NAM April 2008 update, and it just messed everything up!!!

You can't see the intersections between avenues when you view congestion data and also you can't see any of the El Rail!!! why has this happened!!!

I am not sure if the requests have come up on this before, but I figured I'd ask. Would it be possible to see:

1) "California style" interchanges. Basically, short ramps that one has to accelerate on quickly, meant to be placed in areas without a lot of highway R.O.W.

2) HOV lanes, preferrably the closed off kind.

USING ADDITIONAL BRIDGES

The text file in the Additional Bridges folder says.."Install additional bridges to this folder. Don't forget to update the "NetworkAddonMod_Bridges_Plugin_Controller.dat" after downloading new bridges." But it doesn't say HOW to update the .dat. From what I've discovered in about an hour of searching is that I need to download the NAM Essentials. When I download that (and run it through FileJuicer since I'm on a Mac) I find 3 files named:

NetworkAddonMod_Essentials_April_2008[173780]-26.dat

NetworkAddonMod_Essentials_April_2008[199762]-28.dat

NetworkAddonMod_Essentials_April_2008[423610]-30.dat

Do I just drop these files in the NAM folder? (It looks to me like FileJuicer misnamed the files somewhat). Does this update the NetworkAddonMod_Bridges_Plugin_Controller.dat? If so, then why doesn't the Additional Bridges text file just say to download and install the Essentials? If not then how do I update it?

Thanks.

I've scoured the forums to find which pathfinding option works best in the NAM traffic plugins...better, best, perfect, etc....Commute times are ridiculous and seriously limiting my enjoyment of the game, despite well thought out mass transit and roads...I understand this is a frequently brought up subject, but the NAM has not solved the problem for me, and I have yet to read a satisfying answer. Thanks!!

@dmrsunz: I didn't know that FileJuicer had some problems with recognizing the file names, but check the filesize of the three files. Here are the proper names with their sizes:

NetworkAddonMod_Bridges_Plugin_Controller.dat - 43.5 kB

NetworkAddonMod_Controller.dat - 521 kB

NetworkAddonMod_IndividualNetworkRULs.dat - 33 kB

The current NAM Essentials (April 2008 version) are the same as the files that are included in the current NAM download. So if you're unsure about the files that FileJuicer has extracted, you can simply use the files that are included in the Mac version of the current NAM.

orthogonal one way over diagonal one way road problem

01lf7.jpg

go to work. ok!

02cn2.jpg

go home... hmm.. u-turn at avenue end so far.

03ua6.jpg

then i cut avenue end and now it isn't work!? why?

04up7.jpg

if go to work is ok then let see the way home.

05zd2.jpg

i think because this peice(diagonal one way road under orthogonal oneway road that direct to houses).

split one way road set to 2 set(2 left and 2 right). 2 left is work fine but 2 right not work.

can you check this please?

i've lastest nam installed.

update..

networktestjun184512150tz3.jpg

orthogonal one way over dual one way is ok.

networktestjan225012150ju5.jpg

orthogonal one way over orthogonal one way is ok too.

Hi all,

Since Installing The April2008 version of the NAM. my eurotextures arent working under the El Rail bridges.

I'm using the Sim Forum Bat Teams Euro textures MOD by frimi2 and Left hand drive.

Is there an update I am missing. I cant seem to find anyone else with the same problem I cant be the only one can I?

Please help me resolve this as I dont want to have to use the old NAM to keep my citys L train.

Thanks for the reply Andreas!

You got it, I went to the LEX and they had a newer version there, as well as loads of other cool stuff to distract me.

Problem solved. 44.gif

mr.v, I discovered the same thing a few days before and seems to be a pathing problem. As you told us, this error occurs only with network puzzle tile over another single diagonal network (not limited to OWR pieces).

I put a note in the NAM Issues thread on SC4D ( >linkie< ) . If you have more information, you might like to inform the NAM team directly in that thread 2.gif.

Hey, I have some questions.

When installing the mod, with the network controller files, what do all the options mean?

Specifically the simulator A and B options. Do they imply better pathfinding? And then is it better or perfect pathfinding?

And what do the 'Simulator' options do exactly? For example, whats the difference between Standard and Simulator B/Hard setting?

Ideally, I want just 2 things - better pathfinding and for the sims to walk a bit more to reach mass transit - but nothing else. Which option do I pick for this?

I'm going with better pathfinding for now, but I may be inclined to change this once I get a response. How would I change it?

Thanks!

I have a weird problem, and I really need your help. I have SimCity4 deluxe and the April 2008 version of NAM. (This is the first version of NAM I have installed.) What happens is that avenue junctions, all rails and elevated rails just won't appear on the transportation maps. There is clear need for them, sims take irrational detours to avoid such network structures. Also if I try to cross a junction with a U-Drive it vehicle the mission fails, even if I still have plenty of time. Dose anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

devill, it sounds like you may have a Left-Hand Drive version of the game without the NAM Left-Hand Drive Plugin.  See here for more details.

Hope that helps!

I have a few questions that didn't pop up when I used the search box.

1) How is the GLR capacity relative to standard rail, elevated rail, and subways? Is it less? Is it more? Are there exact numbers available for this (not just the GLR, but the others too)? If so, what are they?

2) Can an avenue with GLR in the center of it have grown commercial, industrial, and/or residential buildings on it? Would it just be better to use two one way roads with a GLR in the middle?

Also, first post ever. 4.gif

Hello mgrinshpon and welcome to Simtropolis! (Glad to see another E&Ber here!)

To answer your questions:

1. GLR has the same capacity as elevated rail/subway. It essentially uses the same network, and connects to these as well.

2. Yes GLR-in-ave can have buildings grow that are connected to it. You can also use GLR with a road/one way road on each side. The choice is up to you!

Best,

-Haljackey

Thanks, and one more thing, is there any way to bulldoze a GLR/ave puzzlepiece without creating a cluster***** of road/e-rail/avenue pieces scattered around the bulldozed square?
