Hello delija21 and rsp,

...been popping in time to time so see what you guys been building, and the latest interpretation to modern form and function with some whimsy to dress it up -well done

so I'm chiming in to recommend both the 'plainer' version Commercial office and the second one an 'academic center' for the arts or for Architecture or for business or medical -perhaps to even lot it in a similar manner as JBSimio's Clayhurst University so it act as an add-on

Jack

I would say upload both 3.gif they are both very good.

If I had to choose one, I would go for the second one, it seems more... normal to me. I don't think you really need some extra flavor, the shape of the building already gives you that uniqueness.

I don't know if I like the residential (seems more gimmicky modern than quasi-brutal, goofy soviet), but I love the civic buildings. Between you, me, Sam Johnson, and the folks over at SCP, we are getting enough residential blocks, but we are still missing civic buildings and businesses.

Anyway, I like were you are going. I find myself needing to make the buildings I need in my CJ too, there just isn't enough fuel for the fire 2.gif

My problem with it is not that it is not grimy, but it just doesn't match stylistically with what one expects to see in a East-European microdistrict. It isn't bad, I think it is pretty cool! But cool in a snooty high brow art-architecture of some rich neighborhood, not the local people's housing district number 397 on Lenin Prospekt. I don't know, maybe my commie tastes aren't the same (lol). Maybe it is recreation (Delija has made some neat real buildings in the past).

I still can't wait for all of them. Everyone knows I'll put them to good use 2.gif

I just have to step in and get a bit off topic!

First of all Amazing work Delija! Stvarno su ti fantasticne ove nove zgrade! Jel ovo nesto iz Vukovara?

Second of all, Yugoslavian Soc-realism was always different! It never was typical and in no way grimy. It was quite different from Eastern-European architecture of that time. If you'd look at New Belgrade (a municipality of City of Belgrade) which was built from 50s-to late 80s it does not use cheap materials, nor it has over simplified design! It is the largest modernist city and a monument to this type of architecture. Le Corbusier would be proud of it 4.gif The architecture of that time represents what Serbia was always about, a unique expression of east meets west blend. So my friends, I strongly suggest you to type New Belgrade into your Google Earth or your Google Images, or Wikipedia, and I promise you that you'll be surprised of freedom of artistic expression architects of that time had creating this one of a kind city.

And to add, all the grimyness comes from neglect in the past 20-30 years, because we had such a rough time here, I guess maintenance of these buildings, was no ones's priority.

I have to agree with everything Vlasky said. Yugoslavian Soc-relism was always different because of the fact that Yugoslavia was never an Eastern bloc country. In 1948 Yugoslavia distanced itself from the Soviets and started to build it's own way to socialism. That's why everything in Yugoslavia, including the architecture was so different from Eastern Europe. That being said...all 3 BATs are actually recreations...the school is recreation of a school in Blok 2 in New Belgrade, city hall is actually an commercial building also in New Belgrade and the residential building is located in Zajecar

Oh yes, I agree with the others that it's good to see you back in action! Your stuff is always so unique. :) That parliament building is yet another example. It almost looks a bit grotesque with those colourless walls and the forest of antennas on the roof... should make for an interesting building in any city! My only doubt is that the windows appear to be a tad too colourless and dull (i.e. non-reflective). I dunno, my first impression was that they look a bit like wrinkled paper. :uhm: How did you make them? Did you apply a texture to them, or did you make a ground plane and chose a window material that would reflect the ground plane?

Wow....nice to see people are still interested in gritty stuff :) As for the windows, well thay have texture applyed to them becouse my pc can't handle any reflections. Every time i tryed, it crashed so i've no other choice but to apply texture to them :(

Even with a texture applied to them, you should still be able to make them a bit glossier and reflective possibly?

something else must be wrong. If the glossiness is set to 1, which it should be for sharp glass-like reflections, then it doesn't need to take a bunch of glossiness samples like it would for typical materials. The reflectivity should also probably be 1, but that doesn't make it faster or slower.
