    News

Recently, the Trixie award winners were announced, and the award-winning GTR added a pair to its collection!

    The GTR has already won:

-City Showcase Spotlight Award (from the SC4 Wiki)

-Best Urban MD (during SC4D's birthday bash)

-Of Special Interest This Month (just last month at SC4D!)

    ...And the GTR recently won:

-Best City Journal (possibly the hardest award to win and the category with the most members nominated and most nominations cast)

-Best City Sprawl (in this case, not suburban sprawl 3.gif)

On top of that, I also won the "Slogan of the year" Trixie, which is "Click for full resolution!"

-Tarkus was also nominated for his "Imminent" slogan 3.gif

But that's not it.  The GTR was also the runner-up in:

    -Awe Inspiring City

    -Best City Planner

    -Chaotic City

As well as being nominated for:

    -Most Aesthetically Pleasing City

-Best Use of Custom Content in a City Journal

    -Best Roadgeek City Journal

Anyways, that's it for now.  I should have another new update ready sometime soon.

Oh, and check out my new RHW Interchange Guide if you haven't already!  I've been updating it a lot recently!

-There's a direct link to that thread in my signature.

Congrats on your Trixie wins, Hal, especially for Best CJ!

Apologies for not commenting as often as I used to, but RL has been in full-force for several months now. But that whole time, I have been following your CJ's growth. Congrats again!

Congratulations on the trixie haljacky and i you still have the best planned highways, you must be highway crazy (I am too, i can spend countless hours creating diffrent types of highway interchanges, when there isn't even a town or city created 3.gif).

Yay for trixies! Trixie.....fairies....TRIXIE WIELDING FAIRIES!

Good work on your previous work haljackey. Your cities just pop up right out of the ground and go for several kilometers into the air huh. And you're work with the RHW is also incredible.

Wow, haljackey, you won six Trixies.  31.gif  You're like the Michael Phelps of ST.  Just stay away from the Wacky Tobaccy, now, ya hear?

I've lurked in this CJ for ever.  You see, I accidentally clicked on one of the pictures and was actually absorbed into the city.  Luckily, I had a nice simmobile to drive, it was an Audi.  It had a wicked stereo system.  So I cranked it and I've been driving around all this time.  I was on an interchange for about 20 minutes.  There were huge light towers and several tunnels.  I went off on a left hand exit and then down a one way street past some blue skyscrapers in the CBD.  Someone in a green Subaru tried to cut me off but I managed to force him onto the sidewalk near the apartment towers.  Next thing ya know, I was on the bypass.  I ditched off of that in an industrial area that went on and on.  Then there was another skyscraper jungle, with buildings so tall I wasn't sure what time of day it was.  I'm here to tell you that GTR does go on forever...

Good job, I'll see you on the streets.  Don't try to cut me off.

IsaacTham:  Hey, thanks a lot!  See you round!

lucky7:  Thanks so much!  Congrats on your Trixie too!

thepokemaniac:  Hehe, thanks anyways!  Trixie or not, the GTR will continue onwards!  9.gif

doironhebert123:  Thank you very much!  Yes indeed I did.

NMUSpidey:  Thanks a lot!  It was a tight race, I'll tell you that!  With all the other great CJs out there (including yours!), I bet it was tough for the admins to decide.

Dsrwhat316:  Thanks, you too!  A well-deserved winner indeed.  RL gets the best of us (I should be studying for a midterm, but decided to take a break to update the GTR 3.gif).

-I also see you are making a Wiki article for your CJ.  If you need any help with that, just let me know!

deathtopumpkins:  Hey, thanks a lot!  It is always appreciated! 4.gif

pipishere:  Thank you!  Glad you thought it was inspiring!

masochist:  Thank you so much!  Yeah, I had a felling about that one 3.gif, but not the others... that's for sure!

Godzillaman:  Thanks zilla!  Always great to hear from you!

SWAT-MEDIC:  Really?  That's odd.  Well, thanks to you, its gone now.  Thanks again!

SimsRealator:  Thanks a lot!  I don't consider myself a roadgeek, but someone did vote the GTR for "Best Roadgeek CJ". 3.gif

Archean:  Hehe, thanks!  Its like a magic beanstock eh?  Cya later!

Livin in Sim:  First of all, let me say welcome to the GTR!

-Phelps won 8 medals, and I "only" got 6, so I'm not Phelps material yet 3.gif.

-An Audi eh?  Interesting story you share with us.  The GTR may be a never-ending jungle, but its planned in a way so you can navigate your way around without too much trouble.  If all else fails, grab a roadmap or one of those fancy GPS systems and you'll find your way around!

-Thanks again for all your comments!  I hope to hear again from you soon!

Blue Lightning:  lol, thanks a lot!  The current population is 16.5 million or so, projected to grow to about 45 million in the near future.  Glad you are enjoying this CJ and its highways!

    Update time!

This will be my first (full) update since the Trixies came out.  Its an honour to be the best and best sprawling CJ around, and I hope the GTR will live up to its reputation!

The update will mainly consist of more developments in "The Landing", as preparations are underway to not only expand the GTR, but build a port as well.

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with STs picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this City Journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

Here we see more work being done on the rail lines.  This web of junctions is still being worked on before it opens.

    TheLanding-Apr14241234055850.jpg

The first interchange along the east/west elevated highway has been completed.

    TheLanding-Mar21211234052549.jpg

A closeup of the interchange, with signs added.

    TheLanding-Feb23221234053654.jpg

Further inland, a bullet train line has been built.  It will provide a quick connection with Terran Settlement, the city to the south.

    TheLanding-Mar19211234052530.jpg

Heavy signage has been used at the new partial-y highway interchange to notify motorists of the split and advanced information about merging.

    TheLanding-Jan30221234053561.jpg

More signage along the RHW-4 to RHW-6C transition.

    TheLanding-Jan26221234053512.jpg

On the RHW-6C itself, large blue signs are used to direct shipping traffic.  This is the main interchange that leads to the port.

    TheLanding-Jan24221234053490.jpg

In this photo you can see how intricate the networks are.  From sunken to elevated, highway to rail, the portside connection has it all.

    TheLanding-Apr18241234055878.jpg

More work has been done on the rail viaducts that lead the rail lines into the port.

    TheLanding-Mar7211234052466.jpg

This last pic should hold you over until the next update, showing a new freight station, some of the port and seawalls.

    TheLanding-May15231234054731.jpg

More port action is to come!  I'm downloading seaport content like mad right now!  I'm kind of new with building ports, so is there any content that you could recommend for me?

I also reconstructed, updated and expanded the GTR's article on the SC4 Wiki.  Click here if you want to check it out!

The GTR is getting close to reaching 2,000 comments and 40,000 views.  Staggering numbers eh?  Thanks to all for your continued interest and support!

    All the best,

    -Haljackey

Not a bad haul this year, eh? 3.gif Congrats on your Trixies! I definitely saw you winning the "Best City Sprawl" one. Yep, your skyscraper jungles and transportation webs are really just amazing. 2.gif

Great job on the interchanges, as always. Nice accurate placement on all the signs, I really liked that. Another thing I liked was that one aerial shot of the area. Man, I really can't wait to see it all in action. 9.gif The port looks like its coming along well. I can't wait for it to be up and running as well. 4.gif

Nice port! It looks like that one part of it that's lower then the other has an opening in the wall. And the layout of the city has a lot of potential i see as usual. And of course, most if not all of my port content is PEG's CDK3 stuff.
