That mosaic is huge! Hehe... Love the bright blue building! Normally I am not fond of bright blue, but for some reason the building goes perfect in GTR (maybe the background color?). The new RHW in your city looks great, keep up the great work Hal. :-) =)

Great! There's always something going on in the Greater Terran Region! My computer is fixed, so I can now try out the new NAM and RHW and I have also implemented them into my city.

One suggestion from me is that you can try to keep a copy of your updates (in Word) or just a copy of your pictures will do, so that if there is a site hack you still have a copy of your update on your computer. That way you won't lose your data so easily.

Looking out for more!

Best,

Isaac

Gah! I just can't get over the size of that mosaic... It's just so huge.

And I'm starting to recognize some parts of the city, such as that RHW multi-highway...

Excellent work Hal!

Extremely well done work here for the past two updates. Darn you really got my SC4 motivation bug buzzing again. I'm going to have to make time to really finish my CJ...

You've definitely outdid yourself again, Hal. At this rate you're going to run out of outdoing to outdo. 17.gif

I spy an upgrade opportunity in the middle of that mosaic.

Wow that's one heck of a mosaic! The variety of buildings is also incredible

Just curious, where did you get those traffic lights? (The ones at the four-way avenue intersection) And your stations... so much variety

    Replies:

SWAT-MEDIC:  Thanks a lot!  Its my largest mosaic, the largest ever I don't know.

blue sinjid:  Well 2009 is young, I'm sure we'll see even better ones before the year ends.

    GreekMan:  Thanks a lot!

nihonkaranws:  Great, glad you enjoyed it!

    IsaacTham:  Always!  2.gif

-Don't worry, I've been keeping some backups since the hack.  The GTR is also regularly updated at SC4D nowadays, unlike before the hack, so I can always copy and paste updates from there in case something happens.

Blue Lightning:  Hey, glad you enjoyed it!  Actually those signs aren't the new ones, but you'll see them in this update!  4.gif

ecoba:  Its a few years old, and it shows 3.gif.  Glad to know you're a follower!

rainyday:  Well, its one of the older parts of the GTR, so RHW was rare and the MIS didn't even exist when I was making it!  3.gif

collgab:  Great to see you back, and I'm happy to know you enjoyed the mosaic!

Hawkeye9:  Hehe... Thanks!  I'm sure you will be!

Zezug:  Yes it took ages to upload, but its easy to make.  I use a special program called "Inkscape" that I use to compile large mosaics.  Tarkus also uses the program for making road maps in his CJ/MD.

deathtopumpkins:  Yep, indeed it is.  That Multi-RHW existed before RHW 2.0, and was pretty much the HARDEST thing to make in SC4.  I even made a guide about making it and still no one could make it but me 3.gif.

Need4Camaro:  Thanks a lot N4C!  You better hope to get Blue Hope back and running, or else You'll never catch me!  3.gif

-(I very recently took over Blue Hope in # of replies for those who don't know what I'm talking about).

Theirishnintendonerd:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Hope to see you back!

abcvs:  Thank you, thank you very much!  Glad I got it right this time!  9.gif

beebs:  Thanks beebs!  Hope to see more from your CJ soon!

-Don't forget that RHW 3.0 is out now!  I expect to see some creations from you 3.gif.

    Cockatoo-210893:  Indeed it is.  3.gif

kj3400:  Nah, that will never happen.

-Upgrade?  I'll have to demolish half the city to make that huge, complicated interchange RHW 3.0 compatible 3.gif.  Its a historical part of the GTR, as it featured the terminus of the Multi-RHW back in the early days of the RHW.

ilikehotdogsalot:  Took a bit of learning, but I got it to work.  Anyways, thanks for the help!

    -Next stop: Photoshopping!

Archean:  Hehe, glad you enjoyed the mosaic!

frogface:  Welcome back!  Really?  I'm sure its one of the larger ones out there.

doironhebert123:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Welcome to the GTR!

-I can't help you with that, sorry!  Make sure you read the description and the possible readme for help.  If not, try reinstalling it.

The Arrowz:  Indeed it is!  Those traffic lights are just the standard ones that come with the NAM avenue turning lanes.  I have downloaded stations from all across the net, including ST, SC4D, Simpeg, Toutsimcity, Japanese sites, the list goes on!

    Update time!

Its time for a little change.  I have decided to further expand the region's urban area, using a tile called "The Landing" as the next victim.  3.gif

This city is located just north of Terran Settlement, and is mainly covered with water.  I have plans to construct a much needed port and seaside for the coastal front.

    City:

    City-TheLanding.jpg

    Transport (as of now):

-Note:  The RHW network does not show up well on this map.

    l.jpg

Let the development begin!  This update will focus on building/upgrading infrastructure before any actual construction takes place.

    Picture Information:

    NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with STs picture size limits.  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this City Journal (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

You may have seen this curve before in a past update, but here is a zoom-out showing why it needs to curve 90 degrees.

    TheLanding-Sep10001232084152.jpg

Here is a 3-way interchange that connects various thoroughfares throughout the GTR.  Its outdated, obsolete design will need to be upgraded into something safer and of higher capacity before any development sets into the area.

    TheLanding-Sep12001232084179.jpg

A new partial-Y interchange has taken its place.  There is almost no need for traffic to connect in the other direction, so it was eliminated to create more space.

    TheLanding-Jan12051232136788.jpg

The old highway that ran alongside the coast.

    TheLanding-Sep19001232084213.jpg

The new highway.  It has been upgraded to a RHW-6C and will have new interchanges along its coastal route.

    TheLanding-Sep16041232136391.jpg

Another new interchange along the RHW-6C.  This junction will be important for shipping traffic, so it was constructed as a parclo A-4, the highest capacity parclo interchange.

    TheLanding-Mar11041232135497.jpg

Further north, the highway changes to a RHW-4 as it too needs to make a 90 degree curve along the coast.  Interchanges in this area were built with this in mind, so two half-diamonds were made to take advantage of this setup.

    TheLanding-Mar2041232135466.jpg

New signage is being added the highway.  It's very modern and easy to read, and looks great on the RHW-6C!

-You can find the new signs on the STEX.  It should be on the first page since its a recent upload.

    TheLanding-Mar20051232416186.jpg

The coastline is leveled and straightened to prepare for port construction.

    TheLanding-Feb10061232417340.jpg

Another important junction has been created for shipping traffic.  The east/west avenue that ends here changes to an elevated highway right after it overpasses the RHW-6C to quickly get goods out of the city.

    TheLanding-Apr15061232417943.jpg

There will be more to come as this city continues to prepare for urban growth.  The next update should focus more on mass-transit and rail placement.

And I have a question for you.  I've been thinking, if the GTR was actually located somewhere on Earth, where would it be?  I'm open to any suggestions!

    Best,

    -Haljackey

Great update, love the RHW, I think it would be located between North America and Asia, only because it's built up like Asia, however has the building type of North America, probs close to Canada!

P.S missed the last update, WOW HOW BIG IS THE MOSAIC!!!
