I'm liking the way this sounds, can't wait for the autumn now and to hear all the features of said Cities Unlimited.

I was quite interested by his casual approach to the weather/disaster question. It was almost as though he wanted to say but he worded it in a way to let us wonder about it.

I bet after the launch of SC they went straight in and thought "this is what we need to do to convert the simtropolis peoples!".

at least... i hope so ;D

That's it, I'm WAY too tempted with the EL trains and the european architecture! I MUST get this game!

I think it would be cool for CU to have regions where you can draw custom borders to define your city's boundries. That way region play and terraforming would be easy because you could smoothly transition between different cities, and you could also administer each individual city seperately.

Actually, if you think about it..maybe that's just one option you can take with this game.  Talk about Simcity 5 right here!  I am excited again for a city building game.  Hopefully they make this look realistic and avoid the candy houses...that's what us true simcity fans want to see.  And so far with these pictures, that's what I see.

Sorry EA, this looks better than Societies...Dirk and the ST team...keep us updated on this!  Hope is near fans, hope is near!

Quelques remarques en vrac ...

Proportions :    1.gif

My English is rich :   19.gif

Some remarks in bulk...

Proportions/Scale: I can ensure you that there is a massive amount of work and follow-up on the sizes of the elements and of the objects in game. If there is a problem of proportion: then it will be necessary to speak to the architects and to town planners about it.

Road angles at more than 90 degrees: As you already know, you have this possibility in City Life = many possibilities of laying roads attdifferent angles... These possibilities have been increased in Cities Unlimited!

"The London Screenshots": The screenshots we have released showcasing a type of "London", is only meant to reassure city-builders that you can build European cities . Rest-assured, it will be possible to make beautiful American cities too! And other styles...

Rotation of objects: As I recall, in CL it is possible to rotate buildings (45 degrees), Our next City Builder goes beyond these constraints: Shaders plus more faces, new more powerful 3d engine, we've reworked th game from scratch... I cannot give you too many details at the moment: But Cities Unlimited is not City Life 2 = this incarnation is vastly different.

Oh my God! This cyber debate has brought out yet another awesome BATter! This is becoming a good thing, that is, SCS. It has brought back a lot of great greats! TopCliffquote>

hahaha - thanks!  I said when I left that I wasn't gone forever - just until the next Sim game comes out, which looks like it's going to be soon. 4.gif

I was like most other people, staying beside Simcity to the end, but since the announcement of the direction of the next iteration of Simcity, I became more open to try this other, much smaller franchise... So, for those of you who havent gotten the game City Life: World Edition...

GET IT!!! It's only 30 bucks CAD! Its avaiable on Steam! There's NO EXCUSE!

Even though the UI is a bit clunky (and so, the controls), the game itself is very fun! I understand that this game was sort of a test to see if a market existed, so they didnt put TOO much time into refining the final product (some missing building descriptions, lack of FPS controls in camera mode), but seriously... the gameplay is FUN! The goal orientated gameplay actually makes me WANT to make my city bigger (there are different medals based on attributes on your city), and having those multi-angled roads makes my downtown VERY unique (imagine Winnipeg's downtown). Kudos to Monte Cristo for doing a fantastic job on a modest budget! I just canNOT wait till the next one! I'll be buying it on launch day!

I did notice the charactors or people in this game look a bit.. cartoonish. That might harbour the game a bit. I just hope Monte Cristo doesn't make the same mistakes EA did with Sim City Societies. 32.gif

I hope that isnt my London Eye model they are using!! The wheel looks better, but the capsules need more work.

If a true sequel for SimCity 4 is coming out, it's going to have alot of good healthy competition!

This 3D engine looks awesome - if you notice moreso on the first screenshot everything especially the subway train, garbage truck and that colonial style building are all brightly lit up. HDR is usually found in modern 3D FPS games where the contrast is so bright it washes the rest of the colours out representation of direct sunlight. If this is any indication of the graphical power of this new game, I can hardly wait! (Unfortunately the HDR effect usually requires a good directx9 video card)

This looks much better than SCS, and is almost definitely what I'll be buying. This may very well replace the SC series.

Hi all,

I'm simply passing by the website to thank all Simtropolis members who reacted to the interview about Cities Unlimited.

We, at Monte Cristo, are very pleased to share the excitement about our working title.

We're sorry for not being able to share more information today about the game but just get on holiday and enjoy the summer, when you'll get back, we'll share more information with you all either through Simtropolis and other community websites or through the upcoming Cities Unlimited game official website (planned for October 2007).

CU on the web :-)

Looking forward to it. Sounds way more promising than EA's new SimCandyLand intended for people with the IQ of a large farm animal.

Believe in only what you can prove.

Just thought you'd all be interested in this little interview with Philippe over at Simphoni. Some interesting new information, though like the interview here at ST, the answers are understandably vague.

I was particularly encouraged by this answer:

We need to comply with what city builder fans are looking for [in] the “Next Generation City Builder”:

Graphical and economical realism,

Transport,

Variety through building numbersquote>

And thanks Philippe for keeping us informed! 4.gif
