Oh, I'm super excited!  The detail looks outstanding for a 3D game of this size.

This will be amazing!!  29.gif

the graphics look better than scs, and if it has the managment stuff that sc4 does, or at least some of it, then if it outsells scs then it will give ea a reason to look at it. and get ideas to make the next version.

Could Monte Cristo be the new Maxis, now they've been gobbled up by EA?

It looks really promising going by those two shots and maybe this can be the continuation of Sim City we've been looking for (and not finding so far in SC:S).

Dirk, thanks for the great interview!

Finally, a game that looks playable! Note the realistic textures, the subtle differences on the road surface, real car models (Audi, MiniCooper, etc), and accurate tree models. These two screen shots are better than all of the Societies ones.

EA better watch it, they're gonna' get their butt handed to them if this plays and works as good as it looks. Is it possible to have a game company that actually looks at its target audience and takes into account what they want!? Who'd a thought!?

New sheriff in town? Let the rumors begin!!

When Cities gets officially announced to the general public, I hope it gets as much media attention as SCS did. In a positive way ofcourse. 2.gif

Hmm.... very interesting! I'll be sure to watch this one! It's almost too good to be true, you know? But anyway, it is certainly an improvement.

Thanks so much, Dirk! I'm surprised a Monte Cristo interview is here, but glad! 9.gif

Whatever!  It still has ferris wheels, how can it be anything other than a kids game?  Or a game for the simple minded?

There is no sarcasm in my family...

edit:  meowza:  Oh, I'm sure it will get as much positive attention as SC:S.

Oh wow, that game looks good atleast... pretty realistic. I will reserve judgement until I hear more about the gameplay (particularly transit options and customizability... the latter I don't tihnk will be a problem). But the first screenshots make me much more optimistic that the first few SCS screenshots. I hope this game turns out to be good... and a good replacement for the SC5 that we will never get. 3.gif

Will reserve judgement since I absolutely hated City Life and will need to see how they have implemented the feedback they got from it but judging from they have to be learning about the reaction to Sim City Societies and what they are saying I will definitely be following this one with interest.

The past few weeks really have been dramatic and I am soooo glad something like this emerged from all the crap stuff we've been seeing. This gives me hope for the future of city building sims!!!!! Then again, we truly won't know how good or bad each game is until we play them (obviously).........but still, Cities Unlimited: your teaser rocked my world!

WOW THIS GAME LOOKS WAY BETTER THAN SCS. SCS is sure to crash and burn - especially with the release coming up!

Noticed how this latest picture has a ferris wheel, yet it retains an authentic city feel compared to SCS first screen shot (that included a ferris wheel as well)

I see a bus in the picture - well, at least we know that there are buses in the game.

Looking forward to more screenshots...Thank you Philippe 2.gif

arrgh! i was about to do a snappy retort about how that was the london eye and not a ferris wheel.

this looks fantastic, especially compared to SCS. In terms of 3D simulation, it's quite realistic, and much less cartoony. Doesn't look like there are any alien cities or gingerbread houses, and it also looks like there is more than one type of road.

only con: a little too british. supposedly city life has a british version and an american version (which is perfect for us canadians), maybe this will have a similar thing going on. i'd really like to see how this develops.

I never thought in a million years that I would be more excited about a future City Life game than the next installment in the Sim City series, but after reading the interview and seeing the first screenshots I must say I am very impressed.  The developers over at Monte Cristo really seem to be trying to correct the problems of the first installement by taking the series in the direction I was hoping SC5 would go in.  They seemed to have listened to the complaints of the first game, such as a lack of transportation options as well as building variety and are trying to actually add realism to the game (the part about the pedestrian behavior sounds really interesting).  I'll certainly be following this game's developement more closely than SCSociety's.

I agree that it will be disappointing if Simtropolis doesn't include Cities Unlimited content and forums.

Woot!

Man this game sounds alot better.

I played City life, I wonder why they wont name it City life 2.

Since its alot better naming it that way.

The cars in the first screenshots look good. 4.gif

Cant wait for more info.

Right now, I'm going to wait a while until more information comes out, but at the moment, I'm liking the direction Cities Unlimited is going compared to the wrong turn SCS appears to be taking.

I think it looks pretty sweet, but demanding on my hardware. Looks like somone is going to fill the niche for a real city managing game since SCS is off making gingerbread houses. Who knows if it will be out for mac though :/

Cities Unlimited looks promising...at least graphic-wise. Definitely looks much better than SCS.
