Have I mentioned I am determined to create the most realistic train station and SC4 railway expansion ever? Oh, well I am.

whyyesiloverailz4qq2.jpg

this is supposedly a z4 render, with a 125% vertical stretch.

oh wow Glenni! that's an awfully depressing tower block, look at all the dirt and grime, looks like such a hopeless place to live......it has to be one of my favourite BATs around, can't wait for it to be released so I can plop it in one of my ghettoes..as usual you never fail to impress, great work matey 2.gif

Fine with me, as long as it makes it to its final release. 3.gif

It has cement on the structure itself, the shaft is just surrounded by lots of metal. 2.gif

Hi everyone, I'd decided to remake one of my less popular BATs, the House In The Clouds, with much better accuracy (such as the minor fact that there are two chimneys instead of one!), better textures, and omni nightlights in the more prominent windows.

Let the rendered previews speak for themselves:

All that's left to do is get the scaling right (which was way off in my previous version) and produce the lot.

I'll admit the last version was quite bad. 31.gif

Another BAT project: some lime kilns to fill the void of 'quaint factories' - should be good for adding industrial jobs to rural areas. What do you think?

They are based on real ones in the Netherlands and are a close recreation.

Right.  Then let me say it this way; I think the cement should be on the outside, the reinforcements on the inside.

I like that.  It will be nice to have some suitable industry to provide some non-farming jobs for a rural area.

Only one thing that I'll say about it: it's not finished yet.

for anyone who is interested, i have completed the final renders on the Riviera Tower Complex. The bat should now be ready for export and be uploaded soon. The below pics show the final renders of the bat.

That looks really good but I do have some criticism. The lights around the base are too bright imo, and the window's night lights don't look that good but if you don't want to use physical lights or simfox's methods, then those will have to do.

Some other detail things (I'm huge on details so this may not bother other people but it's the kind of things I would change on my own model):

1. The pool looks too far sunken in; keep in mind that the water is often 8" to 1' away from the pool deck which at this scale would be nothing. Your's looks closer to about 1.5 feet, so I would half that distance, I think it would look a bit better. Also if you can, I'd make the corners of the pool not so sharp.

2. The top roof of the building looks too flat to me. Usually you're going to have the edges of the walls stick up farther than the roof. Also the frames on the windows look kind of random. If you still have the splines you used to create the roof shape, make a copy, select it in the modify panel, break all the vertices, then select by element and look for something in the Geometry section called Outline. Check the center box and enter a number to outline the splines. Keep this up, and you can get a bunch off lines that flow parallel to the sides of your building.
