It is a nice cathedral, delija21, but it isn't really biggest Orthodox one in the world. Christ the Savior cathedral in Moscow for instance is about the same in terms of floor plan dimensions but significantly taller (Sv. Sava is 82 m tall and Christ the Savior is 103 m tall). Then there is a St. Isaac in St. Petersburg. It is 1,5m shorter then then Christ the Savior (at 101,5 m) but it is quite a bit large larger by floor plan (105x95m vs 85x85 (CtheS) and 80x90 (Sv.Sava)

As for the model - it is a very impressive start! I assume the the dome drum windows are not actually the windows themselves, but just a arches...

Are you planning to follow original sizes? how about vertical stretch issue?

SimFox i didn't said that Sv.Sava is the lagrest  exsistant Orthodox in the world, but it is the largest orthotox church in use, because Christ the Savior and St.Isaac are used on feast days only. and yes,i'm planing to follow original sizes.. what about vertical strech issue?

Agreed. Now as Toxic Piano has said, you're not here to entertain us. Can we see a normal shot of the building? One that shows the shape and maybe the roof and more walls?

this is my next bat project that i am working on, the Austin Heights Tower. The below screenshot shows the basic model so far. Does anyone know how i can put windows on this tower, beacuse the shape is proving to be quite difficult to use.

Come see what's cooking in my BAT Workshop

if you make sure your interpolation and height segments are correct you can make it a poly, select all edges, and use create shape from edges. Then you'll have a spline you can make into steel frames, and make the original poly a glass material

Jasoncw: Thanks jason! I will when the time comes but right now Im working on the roof junk.

Scipio: Its a teaser 3.gif Ill post in my BAT thread when the time comes, but for now you get that.9.gif

Also scipio, you double posted43.gif

(I feel like im nagging too much :\)

Do what scipio said, or use the line tool or the edit poly tool to create shapes. To use the edit poly tool, just turn on the polygon, and use the cut tool to cut out window shapes. Looks like a good model so far, good luck!

I just realized that i've been meaning to say this for a while:

this thread was a really great idea. at first, i, like others didn't think it would work very well but its kind of nice to have one thread where I can see what Tonks is making, what Swat's making, what Glenni's making, what Burro's making... etc.

Great work guys.

When you want to display a picture, just click on the reply link. When the window finishes loading, find the yellow box with a mountain on it and put the direct link to the image int he first text box, then resize the image so it is no larger that 800x600. And I agree, needs some work3.gif

Apparently, there is a rendering issue and I don't know how to fix it (nightlights are lit in the day renderer and there is that offending diagonal strike through which leaves everything above that line brighter with no shadows). I'm using self-illumination for the nightlights btw. Is that the wrong way to do it?

Edit: Switched the image from png to jpg.

You should open your own thread and get help in that. I would reccomend reseting the LODs and then re-exporting. You will need the right prefix before the light name so that night lights show up at the right time. Also, you might want to check that the piece is centred properly and not offset. I cant actually see the picture but im guessing that a couple of these might help.

ngeeves: Ok. I tried reseting the LODs but it didn't work so I just deleted it and replaced it with the huge camera rig and the render looks good now. Anyways, I think fixing the nightlights is going to take me a long a$$ time because I would have to rename all the individual windows. :S

patriots_1228: Actually, it's not the real thing but, you could say that it's a spire inspired by the spire. 4.gif

Lookin' mean there fukuda. What's that supposed to be?
