Yoman: I love that crane. Makes for realistic harbors. Is it dutch? It reminds me of the big ones around Rotterdam. Speaking of which, I read about some very cool buildings in the Rotterdam harbor made out of old gravel silos.

Today's progress in drafting class (the class where i just sit and BAT and magically receive school credit):

woweeeqc3.png

So the far left is De Zwarte Tuin, just a small bar and cafe. Next to it is another bar/cafe which has Amstel beer, then another building, with a FEBO (food from the wall slot) building, so I might have to take down the Heineken sign. Then is a huge club called Escape, which has Bavaria and Heineken beer.

Here's my police kiosk. I came to thinking, in some parts of the world they use small police stations that the police are part of the community, and reduces crime, not to mention its cost effective.

The floor textures supposed to be black an white, also, what is up with the nightlighting? It should illuminate the interior way more than what it should. Instead it illuminates the roof.

Make sure that you check the "cast shadows" box for the light.

Also, keep in mind that all planes are one sided, and that all objects are basically made out of planes. So if your roof is just a plane, there is nothing to block the light from below. Same thing if your glass is a plane. So if you have a light there, and you don't want light to go through, make sure there are planes to block the light.

As far as I can see it doesn't illuminate interior at all!

I would like to add couple of things to Jason's suggestion:

1. make sure that your walls, roof etc has both sides, or that material that you use (if you use MAX) is double sided.

2. depending on your setup glass, well, thing in the windows may not cast any shows (again being single sided) or cast completell solid, opaque shadow if it is not.

Based off a crane in the newest section of Europort in fact, the APM Terminal, so you are 100% correct.

I've never had to do roof junk before (modern buildings)... how's it look? I'm not sure what else to add.

Slightly over-scale at the moment, but I am going for a Hampstead look. This is the most basic of the building styles I want to do, but there isn't too much work to do on variation. I would like to add a slight red tint to the brickwork too, its too grey in my render compared to the picture below.

The roof junk looks superb, Scipio. Nothing to add really. It's full without being cluttered. Good work.

Happy with the brickwork, I need to brighten the white windows a bit, lighten the flat roof, and SCALE IT DOWN A LOT! I may end up doing it as a 2x2 lot with 3 of my building designs on it. Hello Prop Family?

And I just noticed the rear chimney is messed up...

Edit: Just scaled it down to 10 meters wide rather than 16, looks a nice size for it. Now ti fill the other 6 m.
