What you HATE about SC4...

I have a couple new things...

1) The last 4 squares of a landfill

2) The game taking all my rewards away after it just gave them to me. It took my Solar Plants away after I built 1! I tried to use a cheat to get it since I had already earned it, but the game didn't recognize it. <-- Does that one make sense?

3) Repeating buildings 5 in a row. Except for row apartments.

This one was shorter, yay.

I hate how it "works" on Vista (which is another story) as well as the game requirements being 1/2 as the requirements for UDI, which is a joke anyway.

I have a few things:

1: I hate how it lags alot, especially in bigger cities.

2: The fact that there isnt a very big variety of RCI buildings in the game, meaning one city cud have hundreds of buildings that look exactly the same.

3: How hard it is to start a city, compared to previous versions of SimCity.

No undo feature. Sometimes I've worked so hard an area, then I do something that messes it up pretty bad... have to start over again.

Oh yes, and the fact that Sims think that an 80 story skyscraper in a small suburb looks normal.

I do have to say that SC4 is a great game, so I have to think hard about this.

O.K, I do hate how building landfills, highways, and one way roads is touchy, but other than

that I cant think of anything.

Oh, yeah!!!! When you work with the RHW, GLR, Double Decker El. Rail, or any NAM componant you get all of the network destruction!!!

When I build a farming community, I REALLY HATE that agricultural desirability drops when there are busy roads. In the real world there are farms by the side of motorways. And when I try to make a farming community most of the people on the roads are sims commuting to the farms. And still I get strips of land that get abandoned and make my town look ugly! ARE THEY PHOBIC OF THEIR OWN CARS OR WHAT!?

The stupidity of the sims travel for work is mind boggling. I hate the abandonment of buildings. Ugh. The NAM fixes it somewhat, but not enough.

1. The lack of Llama's

2. The useless and ugly advisors! I want Randall Shoop back!

3. Lack of proper documentation due to a rush job, which also leads to some bizarre game mechanics (I should be able to query a business and know whether people work there. I don't care how many jobs are available or how many more the building can support)

4. You can change the background shots in city tiles, but the developers couldn't instead have the snapshots of the neighbouring tiles there.

5. The crashes. Ooooo the crashes! 15.gif

1. The landfill which I agree, the last 4 tiles are the hardest to dezone especially if the map is built out

2. The fact that there is no update to SC4

3. Commute times, technically people will commute further than 5 km to work

4. Repetition in buildings, even with many STEX plugins in the folder

5. Demand caps

I HATE the dust when you demolish something, I usually want to build something where I demolished a space and dust stays for like 10 seconds..

What do I hate about SC4? Mainly the stupid ACCESS_VIOLATION crash that always happens right when I didn't save, and that has no fix available.

1 - Maxis repetiting buildings.

Really ugly and unrealistic.

2 - Position the water and subway system.

3 - Missing dependencies lots grow in my city.

I hate that it doesn't have a builtin mechanism for saving "revisions" of a city to "backup/restore" either at the region or city level .. especially when it is touchy about crashiing and losing cities.. not to mentioin the normal stuff like HD failures..

Let's see, what do I hate...

1:The first thing that comes to mind is CTD.

2:commute (in general, stupid paths, commute times, ects)

3:The inability to switch on or off fires and other automatic disasters. What if I want no more fires for a while? What if I want a random flood or on earthquake or tornado?

4:No flood disaster.

5: demand caps.

6:Stuff that you don't want gets built in places. (like a bungalow when you want a brick house, or a 2x1 lot when you want a 1x1)

7:lagg

8:landfill

9:CTD (I put it twice because I REALY hate it)

I think that Sim City 4 is a great game, but there are some things that just get to me.

1) CTD (the most time-wasting and frustrating problem)

2) Micromanaging school/hospital budget, especially in large cities. Unless I use the huge schools/hospitals mod, I end up spending almost ALL my time adjusting budgets for these insignificant things. How come my advisers can't take care of these small and tedious things??

1. Too strong American influence, almost no European buildings. (Don't tell me you think that Euro-set looks European?)

2. The original water, a 3x3 hooray for Pegasus' water mods!

3. Traffic, the sims never use the higways, they just HAVE to use the smallest and worst roads they find - arrgh!

4. Repeating Maxis-houses, and that my plug-ins in fact never show up where I really want them!

5. The harbours and airports have to be a joke.

It's a good game, though.

Load-up time for sure. I own a 2003 Home Edition PC and since my city is over half full it won't load very well anymore and when it does it takes 15 seconds to move around two inches.

We should be able to place the buildings we create in Sims2 as buildings in SC4, especially since it's easier to use than the BAT at times. Of, since whenever I personally play Sims 2 I just make buildings rather than play with the Sims, they should create an architecture programme that is jsut fo rmaking buildings. I would probably play THAT more than Sim City.

I think that commute times shouldn't even be in the game. Just get up earlier and you'll be on time! Most people commute like 5 cities away in real life. A bunch of you are talking about how your game crashes and gets really slow, but I don't seem to have that problem, probably because I have a mac. The thing that's bad about having a mac is that this site is mostly aimed at Windows-users. That's normal though and there are ways to get around it. I think this game is great really, it just has problems like any other game.

I'm sick of trying to build something, whether its a new zone or a transportation fix, and all of a sudden right as I'm about to let go of the mouse button, or sometimes right AS I let go of the mouse... OH MY GOD! FIRE!. Stop everything mayor. We don't know what to do. we have 12 fire trucks, and a single abandon building is on fire. please, help us. As if anytime theres a fire, we call up our mayor, and ask her what to do. Put the freaking fire out. All I do anyway is click the fire to death like a retard. Are you telling me that that is really necessary. The other thing that bothers me is the nit pickiness of the sims. They don't want to commute to long, but they don't want to live to close to the road, but they also want ridiculous amounts of parks and stupid crap, which for some reason cost a bunch of money to upkeep. I mean sure, some should, but how much money do we really need to spend each month to keep that single tree and grass green? Also, I just feel like the whole desire thing is a giant mystery. They want this for some reason, oh now they don't, wait, but now they want agriculture for some reason. And what do I do when all the desire is down? and the fact that there is one ordinance that makes me money. gambling, and it doesnt matter how commercially based my city is, it makes 100 dollars each month, just like clockwork. and some of the ordinances just dont do anything. Yes, I would like a greater variety of stations and such, but I would like to know why pretty much every building costs money to run. Like bus fares. Maybe I'm just mistaken about these, but we PAY for a bus ride. we PAY for a subway ticket. not to mention subways attract a more metropolian crowd. but my first instict is that while were probably not making a bunch of money for this, we are probably not paying a bunch of upkeep for them either. It's not like the city pays Amtrak to fly by in their trains. And there are other complaints, but just the whole realism deal. Little details annoy me. like the absolute rigity of the transportation options. no, this intersection may NOT occur near this type of onramp. No, we tried building diagonal bridges, they just don't work for some reason. No, you cant curve a rail through a street so it comes in at one angle and out another. no, monorails, highways, bridges raised rail must all have absolutely nothing underneath them, not even clean grass. any way, I'll think of some more, but I must say the Deluxe edition fixed some stuff. the patches are nice, but the NAM really made me happy.

1. Laying zoned lots drives me crazy in the version of the game because the game pre-programs and size and shape of the lots too much. Many times I'll zone something and not notice that the game changed the zone slightly, and nothing will develope because its an undesireable size.

2. I hate how stupid the Sims are. What idiot takes sides streets to commute three cities away when a prefectly good highway is a few streets over?

3. Delapitation/ Abandonment

4. Education and Hospital Bus and Ambulance Ranges

5. What happened to the preforming arts center? Cities usually have this before an opera.

6. Seeing the same building a thousand times in my region (same goes for parks, schools... etc)

7. Traffic requirement for CO buildings. Seriously, how many actual customers are visiting a company's HQ?

And the list goes on and on, yet, SC4 is a vast improvement upon SC3000.

I hate vu blue denim headquarters! What a disgusting building. Is there any way to delete some of the maxis buildings? B/c that's not the only one I can't stand.

Others include;

Wren insurance -it was cool the first time I saw it... now it's a bit redundant.

Cecelia's greasy taco stand - why? just why?

I also hate the fact that you can use the END key to rotate a building... but not to rotate a zone. I'd rather not demolish my avenue to have a building face a road around the corner. And for that matter, why is it so hard sometimes to get a 4 x 4 zone, instead of a bunch of 1 x 2 's w/ streets placing themselves illogically? Ah the eternal question.

I cant stand how it takes forever for me to load the game!!

How it crashes as soon as I finish doing something important!

How I get the same buildings over and over and over!!!

The cars are always disappearing. Why can't they stay and cause real traffic jams.

I hate the " 3 lane highways" also!!

And other things that I can't think of right now.

I HATE the big loading times. I have a large city tile, almost fully developed and a population of 300,000. The city is 1/4 full, and it just KILLS me that I can't play it because of the susceptibility of crashing! It takes 30 seconds to go from one place to another! Then, I definetly can't do U-Drive-It missions. What else, there are NO street textures under overpasses! Maxis could have done something for that! Plus, all the other bugs and transportation issues... I mean, 3 lane highways??? The street's limit is 60 vehicles!

--END--

EDIT: And I don't like that Maxis didn't include all the commuters... Where are the housewives driving to Andrew's Fashion Centere?

I just hate the fact that the Mac version is crap and it screws up at higher-res (tearing at the roads, for instance).

The UDI stuff was a mistake to begin to with.

Secularization (House of Worship? Are you kidding?)

The fact that you can't have different speeds on the same network.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

1. C & I zones apparently not requiring workers to come to work (what I believe to be a byproduct of the traffic simulator only added much later than the demand/zone development thing was completed)

2. The eminence of CS buildings - other than hotels, shopping malls and department stores, purely service/shopping-oriented buildings are a rarity, and the ones mentioned do not happen too often in RL either. Commercial premises are usually located on the ground floors of both residential and office buildings. I believe some base amount of CS work should be generated by such buildings themselves, with department stores and such RARELY plopping up in commercial zones in very favorable circumstances. One could also zone for CS to get out-of-town shopping malls and such.

3. The fact that COs require traffic - WHAT FOR?

4. Where are low-rent offices? Why is "office space" considered a "step up" from commerce as such? Why can't I get large office parks on the outskirts, with call centres and such? I agree office towers are a rarity and its pretty fine with me I am not getting those in my <100,000 cities, but why do I have to rely on some shops and industry to give my sims some work?
