Looking good :P:)!

But to me the glass on the far left of the ground floor looks like it's boarded up or something..

EDIT:And the brick texture on the roof access on the back of the building has a bit too much of "dotted moquette" feel, IMO.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! It's good to be back!

I have worked some more on 826 N. Plankinton. I will admit that it has departed somewhat from a true re-creation: the south wall of the building (east wall in the render) actually borders an alley / pedestrian access to the river walk on the other side. That said it is not wall-to-wall, and my version won't be either. (Sorry guys!) Instead of just a walkway, however, I have decided to model a little seating area for an upscale cafe, since this building looks rather upscale IMO.

It's still a work in progress, obviously, but what do you guys think?

It's great, I love the style! I have already reserved a spot in my collection of BATs for the Chicago 1890 tileset ... So this would be a 2x2?

This is the type of urbanisation I like, alleyways, cafes etc..was thinking of trying some sort of laneway project. Love the new stuff, so happy you have returned!

Hey everyone, Renaissance Books is on the STEX! :)

Also: thanks for all the great feedback!

T Wrecks, 826 N. Plankinton is 1x2. (So is Renaissance Books, by the way.)

I'm glad everyone is enjoying Renaissance Books!

Here is a quick update on 826 N. Plankinton. I think it's time to start texturing!

At a glance, I'm a little worried that the tables and chairs are too small... what do you guys think?

I think they are just about right, if they go too big they end up looking too cartooney. The area gives off a feel of being an outdoor seating area and that is the most important thing, to get that vibe across. I love it, really want to push for more urbanisation in sim city, to really get into the city if you know what I mean. This and Renaisance books do that perfectly

Hmm... IMO they do look a tad too small. While they shouldn't be as huge as the ones included in one of PEG's waterfront kits, I think scaling them up somewhat would make them look better.

But, couldn't just the front door be bigger to what we are accustomed to?

I beg to disagree, i think you should look at how things look like in streetview, and then base your modelling on that.

If you've already done this, and it gave you the result we can see, then no problem - it just mean things are this way.

I would love a hipster styled cafe for my cities! :D

On this one, it's looking great. :) I think the tables could be just the right size. You could make them a tad bigger but I think they're just right.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I'm leaning towards scaling the tables and chairs up just a little bit. The more I look at them, the more I think they're a little too small.

    Working on textures as we speak... I hope to have another update before the end of the night! :}

The problem is that making things exactly as they are in real life doesn't necessarily mean that they will "work" in SimCity, with 3 metres tall Sims walking past... I really wish one day we had a SimCity with a truly uniform scale. *sigh*

My friend from Pennsylvania stayed with me this weekend, so I didn't get a chance to work on 826 N. Plankinton (which, by the way, I think needs a better name...) but I am back at it today!

Most of the texturing is done, just need to do some final adjustments. I also scaled up the chairs, tables and umbrellas in the seating area. I hope they look better.
