Looks splendid (not mentioning that I have no idea which building it is) :), I hope soon I will see another great building you started, you know what I mean? ;D

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

I seriously choked with excitement seeing the Carew preview. So busy, but seeing all the BSP stuff + nofunks stuff here I want to get to playing the game again so bad. Marvelous work.

I just had a tear of joy running down my cheek 36.gif36.gif36.gif

Badonka-donk-donk

So much bricks, so much Art Deco 36.gif36.gif36.gif

They look lovely and thank you Nolan for not forgetting about them and working hard to get them done. Since I know they're connected in RL and have that box of a base, I must admit, I had similar sinful wishes as Fran. I do want to have them as they're in RL, but I'd like to experiment with two separate entities as well, so cold there, would there, should there be two versions dear Santa? I have been a good boy this year :)47.gif6.gif11.gif

Fantastic progress, nofunk. I second Francis' request to use the second part as a separate building. That would be great for variety's sake.

Hope everyone is doing well.

First you nearly kill us, and now this innocent question. :P

Maybe, just maybe, Santa will bring a big treat this Christmas?! :uhm:

Somehow my head is spinning with beautiful Art Deco buildings... :boggle:

Come and join the BATting folly,

Fa la la la la, ba-donk-a-donk.

Carew Tower makes us jolly,

Fa la la la la, ba-donk-a-donk.

Hope that SimFox joins the fiesta,

Fa la five hun-dred, Fifth Avenue.

I'd like to be the beta tester,

Fa la five hun-dred, Fifth Avenue.

Vlasky's picture made my jaw drop,

Fa la la I need, my pills again.

I also think I felt my heart stop,

Fa la la I need, my pills again.

Would you please all stop to tease us?

Fa la la la la, we can not wait.

A speedy upload, that would please us.

Fa la la la la, we can not wait.

Time to end this merry racket,

Fa la la la, who's knocking there?

Strong men with a curious jacket,

Fa la la la, who's knocking there?

Thank you all so much!!! I have been working on the base since my last update, and will have more to show very soon!

And T Wrecks... I am flattered and speechless and feeling festive all at the same time! "Badonkadonk" really fits into that song a little too perfectly, huh?

So, I have spent lots of hours working on Carew Tower this weekend, and I am happy to report that I have just a little bit of modeling left to do! I still need to make lots of roof junk, add some more details along the base, and go back over the original towers to clean up a few mistakes I made before, but we're getting close!

By next weekend I plan to be well into the texturing work! As you can see, I have stripped the building of all its textures, mainly because I really didn't like how they were turning out, but also because clay models are sexy! Oooh...

I hope everyone is doing well!

Great work, nofunk! I think it was a good idea to remove the older textures and replace them with new ones. I'm sure you've learned a lot since you first modeled/textured Carew.

Now this is a massive base! In terms of size, it almost reminds me of those Hong Kong behemoths Bixel has made so often...

For a moment I thought this was the Gaurdian Building from Downtown Detroit! :(

Definitely one of my favorite architectural buildings of all time, I even took a picture with it!

^^ but I see cellphone was more interesting than building itself :P11.gif

Anyhow, it looks outta this world, a true Art Deco monster in all its glory! I licked the previous texture. Something about brown bricks that gets me in the mood :) It's very interesting how badonkadonk looks massive in this render and it fights for the dominance with main tower. Very interesting relationship those two have. Can't wait to see more.

Oh and btw will there be version where badonkadonk and tower will be separated?

Really massive building. No matter how tall it is, I'm using it. Geez it's so nice. Fit in with Scotty's St.George and add a little variety to my skyline.

Now that's a big building, but it looks like you have it well in hand. I'll second daniel's suggestion/request, if it's not too much trouble it would be great to have them together and as separate buildings.

Hey everyone! I realize I've been pretty quiet since my last update, and while it is true that the holidays are in full swing for me, rest assured that I am still working on Carew Tower! In fact, almost all the modeling is done (just a few final touches are needed) and I'm currently tweaking the textures.

Many of you have asked if I'd be willing to release alternate versions of this, with the tower and hotel broken apart since the complex is so large. I do have plans to do this, because I too would like to use them separately, but I plan to work on that after I release the full version. So if you want these separated, and can be patient, then I will sure try to oblige!

That said, here's a new preview!

    carew121811a.jpg

(Note: there is no window texture on this yet.)

Hope everyone is doing well! :)
