About This File
"The house of moderate cost is not only America's major architectural problem but the problem most difficult for her major architects," Frank Lloyd Wright wrote in 1943. This lot is an interpretation of the Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum House in Florence, Alabama. It is one of the functional cost-effective Usonian houses designed and built by Wright in the first half of the twentieth century. The original house was completed in 1939. This lot represents the original design of the house. The bedroom block was later expanded to the size it is now.
The house is very distincly of the Prarie Style that Wright mastered. It presents a long, low, flat structure that hugs the landscape and works with it. The real building features red brick from northern Alabama clay and southern cypress to blend in with the surrounding landscape and flora. The twenty foot long cantilevered carport reinforces the house's emphatic horizontal profile.
This lot features a family of four buildings, each one with a different combination of textures and colours. The lot is growable, so you should see different styles of the same house growing in a neighborhood.
The lot sizes are 4x5, so if you zone 4x5 residential, and you hold your tongue just right, these lots should grow in your city.
This lot has a few prop pack dependencies for trees and ponds. Please see the README for links to all required prop packs.
