Rintamamiestalo Set

This upgraded version now includes set of 4 different buildings and 2 lots for each of them. Now there is also a custom made foundation. You may delete files of earlier version (The light yellow Rintamamiestalo, this set includes also upgraded version of that one).

Growable R$$, 12 residents, 1x3 size lots, groth stages 1 and 2.

Rintamamiestalo (can be translated as "Ex-service-man House or Frontline-man House") is an example of post-war architecture in Finland. Construction drawings were made by famous architects like Alvar Aalto, and war veterans built these houses mostly for themselves. Lots were usually large, because people used to grow their own vegetables at backyard.

Rintamamiestalos are still very common in Finnish towns and suburbs.

Nice work. Kind of reminds me of a remote cabin in the hills. The ladder leading up to the chimney is an excellent touch.

Very nice design, though the scale is off a bit. It looks like solid work though, and it's great to see a new batter putting out residential stuff, as well as real world designs. I like to learn about new places and building styles.

Great looking house, the image on the left looks like a photograph. Good job. How many R$$ residents?

It looks like the front of the house is facing away from the street, unless it is supposed to be this way. The model itself looks real nice and would be great if it was part of a "lot family" with varying colors or window placements. 9.

In these kinds of houses, the doors seldom if ever face the street. Many of them have (or at least originally had) fairly big yards, which is why the 1x3 lot makes perfect sense. Back when these houses were built, many people wanted to cut their grocery bill by growing their own vegetables.

eppisgood: There's about 10 residents. It's a bit more than in real life, at least nowadays. Back in 1940's, in houses like this could live two families. zstoner: as Kekkonen said, the door usually is usually at back in this type of house. I might later make a lot family.

About size: If you compare it with R$ houses in picture, it looks big, but if compared with R$$ houses and garage, I think that size is quite correct. johnb: Yes, this first picture is rendered BAT building (with gmax).

Simple but just great, looks like an old Quebec Farmhouse, which we still have some around.
