About This File

Description: Antimatter as fuel for power plants is still the subject of ongoing research and is at this time not economically feasible.  Were it to be harnessed, it could provide orders of magnitude more energy than any of the sources we have today.  But the process that would supply this power, particle annihilation, would be incredibly dangerous if not contained.

The cost of creating antimatter fuel is expensive and running a plant like this requires Sim Nation's brightest minds, resulting in high maintenance costs.  But due to the incredible amount of power supplied, its cost/MWh is far lower than alternatives.

Plant hard failure type is Super High Energy (cat 4).  When this occurs, radiation is spewed at 4000 over 30 tiles, i.e. 20% greater intensity and twice the distance of a nuclear meltdown.

Stats:

Capacity: 1210000

Plop Cost: 200000 (3300 to bulldoze)

Maintenance Cost: 15000

Pollution: 5/5/15/0 @ 4/4/0/0

Water Consumed: 2400

Dependencies: None.

It's only cost $0,01/mo and that's cheaper than $0,05/mo Coal. Ofc, we need a minimum 1,000,000 MW of power usage, which I never exceed, even in the region play (I think it's around 500,000 MW using 5 Hydrogen). If the minimum isn't achieved, it's just a waste of money, like Hydrogen.

And, it doesn't pollute air and water. And, they employ mid-wealth and high-wealth, unlike coal which primarily low-wealth, and some mid-wealth and little bit of high-wealth. But unlike Hydrogen and like Nuclear, it will spout a very high radiation if failed.

thank you for this hi tech power source  I'm sure the benefits of massive power availability with no greenhouse gasses outweigh the consequences of poor maintenance   looks good too

The first thing I thought when I saw it was that it would be incredibly dangerous, and lo and behold it's one of the tags.  Interesting concept though for the brave mayors out there.  Nice work!
