Scoty Zoning Mod  2.0.0

About This File

This plugin offers several modifications of the Zone tools.

 1. ZoneManager: Surface and colorset

A handy little fix: for I$ (rural) Zones, you can draw a single-tile zone (Maxis constrains a minimum 4x4 zone). This makes it easier to draw fields on diagonals…; as offered by the SPAM (SimPeg Agricultural Mods) plugin. This is therefore applied to each of the following colorset. Maximum zoning size increased to 48 tiles, and 64 for I$.

5 sets of zone colors are available: Maxis, Soften (softened maxis!), Yard: brown and green (finished the blue of C$-$$$), Ocher (softened Yard), CBVD adapted and intended for the CoriBoom plugin «Color Blind Views for Deuteranopia».

 2. Textures

SZM offers textures to apply to drawn areas. Maxis proposes a small arrow (or empty for the I$-$$$) to indicate the orientation of the zone.

I offer you 5 alternatives: empty, dot, earthwork, foundation2, foundation3.

They are easily interchangeable, replacing one scoty_ZM_tex_[nnn].dat file by another.

 3. Landfill & de-zone

I propose, still as an option, to modify the appearance of the RCI de-zone tool: correction of red (unified solid) and transparency. As well as the appearance of the Landfill area: slight correction of the zoning color and the solid color of the ground.

Installation

Delete the version 1 files of this plugins: scoty_ZM_[texture|colorset]_[name].dat. If present.

Unzip the contents of this ZIP into your Plugins/ directory.

Check out the readme file to see the variations and choose which files to keep.

Item 1 - Choose one of the files: scoty_ZManag_[cccccc].dat

Item 2 - Choose one of the files: scoty_ZM_tex_[tttttt].dat or none, to keep the Maxis arrows.

Item 3 - To keep or not: scoty_ZM_resources.dat and scoty_ZM_gound_landfill.dat

If you wish, you can not install - and take advantage of - the first point (ZoneManager), and only apply a new SZM texture.

Please note: after installation, the zone colors are still those of Maxis (integrated into the city backup). Just click on the [data views] button and then select [zones] on the game interface, to activate the new colors.

Compatibilities and overloads

Zoning Mod by Tropod

It only modifies the maximum zone surface by x2 and x3. You have to choose either Tropod or Scoty Mod.

SPAM

As mentioned above, it introduces a value of 1 tile for I$ (rural). ScotyZM can/should be loaded after SPAM. Often SPAM is in a PEGPROD/ directory, so SZM goes after!

CoriBoom plugin : Color Blind Views for Deuteranopia

The two plugins can be combined without worries if you make sure that scoty_ZoningMod is loaded after C.B.V.D., and having chosen to keep scoty_ZManag_CBVD.dat and any texture. If you respect the installation of the two plugins, SZM will naturally be loaded after C.B.V.D.

Thanks to the @CorinaMarie & @Cyclone Boom duo for their contribution.

Excellently inventive mod! *:8)

I'm always a big fan options, and the different styles are great to have multiple choice of zones with colour schemes too. For the land surveying design and that's very creative. It adds something extra with seeing them each in their own particular ways, depending on personal preference.
