(Nearly) Invisible Underwater Power Connection Lots  1.0

About This File

Short description:

This plugin contains 10 (nearly) lots without textures with a width of 1 tile and a length of between 4 and 40 tiles that allow you to create invisible underwater power connections to remote islands without dragging "floating" power lines over the sea that do not only look ludicrous and ugly but are also unrealistic, and without building expensive power plants just to supply a few houses with electric power. All lots basically just conduct power because they are there, as any other lot. Aside from a small structure at an end of a lot, they are completely invisible.

Please refer to the readme file and the screenshots in the download for

  • instructions how to use them (building them can be tricky)
  • notes on how to avoid side effects (if there is no distance between two UPC lots, that means, if they take up the entire width of a passage in the sea, ferry traffic will be obstructed)
  • notes on how much they cost.

Please forgive the screenshots, it is rather difficult to make screenshots of something invisible.

Dependencies:

PEG Underground Conduit: This plugin contains the little structure standing on every UPC lot. By installing it, you will get a single 1x1 building designed for a similar purpose: conducting power on land.

Installation:

After downloading, extract all files to a folder where you will find them. Move or copy this folder into your Plugins sub-folder of your edition of SimCity 4 (for instance: C:/Programs/Maxis/SimCity 4/Plugins).

To uninstall, please demolish all UPC lots in your cities and then remove all files from your plugin subfolder.

Compatibility:

This plugin should be compatible with all versions of SimCity 4. If not, please write me a comment so I can change this note.

Credits:

Pegasus for the conduit structure I’m using on the UPC lots.

Plugin working as intended, ideal to bring electricity across rivers, lakes or even oceans without the need for bridges or power lines.

The plop acts like a building, meaning you cannot place anything else over it and ships cannot pass it either, but if placed correctly you will still have a 4 tile gap in between the plops where ships can sail through.

Wonderful plugin, exactly what I was looking for and since nobody else ever left a review or a rating I thought I'd leave one.
