SimCity 2013 Mods Switch  2.2.4

About This File

SimCity 2013 Mods Switch 2.2 - Lets you effortlessly toggle each and every mod between deploy/withhold, either offline/online modes. Mod packages no longer need to be physically removed just to play online. Even disagreeing mods can be placed together without conflict. SC13MS comes to help.......

Modders are offering so many interesting enhancements. It would be a pity if we do not fully explore the collection, then strategically deploy individual functionalities between games. However, the bigger our MODS portfolio, the more file system hassle we are to deal with if we wish to specify which packages to load/unload, not to mention switching offline/online. SC13MS comes to help.

...

Info: applies to people having \SimCity custom path.

things like ccleaner, unless explicitly configured not to, would erase sc13ms memory of your custom path, forcing you to again have to point to your \SimCity folder.

I'm really sorry for the late response, especially since you answered in such a detailed manner, requesting my help in finding the bug. I had tried the newest version now and it seems to work. I don't have any mods installed yet, but assume they will work fine once copied. Shall we leave this error behind us then, or do you like me to install the older version again to find what was causing it?

cool you've got things working. we can't win them all so let's move on leaving them behind.

Hello UguuDoki.
At first by thanks and this MODSwitch are very reassuring to manage much MOD which increased in these days.
However, I would like some improvement please.

The first is about "setting of Capable".
Setting of ONLineCapable is not stored at the time of OFF OFFLineCapable.
To toggle the ON/OFF switch cause ONLineCapable to check off.

The second about the "width of the column".
A package file name is normalized for management recently.
But the file name is very long, and Column width is fixed.
Thus, I cannot confirm all of names.

Those are fatal problem neither.
Thanking you in advance.

@momocan

it was once an issue at beta that the OnlineCapable checkbox could not persist.
but recent versions should no longer have such issue. what version you're using?

the latest version 2.2.2 has the package column width increased.
please download and try it out.

@UguuDoki

Thank you for a reply and version up.
I downloaded ver2.2.2 and tried it at once.

The column width becomes wide, and all the file names can look.
Thanks to you, I became more comfortable.

By the way, it is a matter of ONLineCapable.
I used ver2.2.1 and it occurred in ver2.2.2 too.
as far as I explain it after having reconfirmed the situation.
It is like the problem at the time of the start not save.
xxxx0011.pakage file is displayed by 1100 contents to a screen when I start MODSwitch with an offline mode.
In the first place it may be specifications, because there is not MOD which I cannot use offline.
But actually this is a trifling problem.

Best Wishes,

I cannot figure out your situation regarding OnlineCapable settings.
If there is still such a problem, please try these steps:
- Start SC13MS.
- Click UnConfig, the UI would close.
- Delete SC13MS.xml in SimCityData folder.
- Restart the program to do your settings afresh.

I'm sorry for troubling you.
I tried a step mentioned above and a reinstallation of SC13MS(ver2.2.2).
However, Unfortunately the problem was not improved.

Sorry to say but Avast and Malwarebytes found a Win32:Malware-gen after the program was installed on 2 separate machines. File - C:\Users\********\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0ZM8RRMJR.XGJ\E4NPPWZK.M9X\sc13...tion_87be559fc7f9aa3a_0002.0002_1582bebbbe08d73c\sc13ms.exe

Great program idea - shame about the malware....

I have avast too and it is installed with hardened mode on. I make programs  in C# and C myself and it detects my programs as malware, in hardened mode, just because they are not digitally signed. This program is clean! You can get processexplorer and see the connections it makes itself, which are NONE! What good is malware or spyware that doesnt send any information to the maker of the program?

So before you start going around and giving bad rap to people that make good programs, you research into why a program would be false positive for the antivirus you use. Avast is great for detecting real viruses and trojans but is poor for detecting what is malware and what isn't because it is very hard to discern legitimate programs between malware.

You would have to program to understand why; it would take a lot of programming to do 1000's of checks into the actual tcp/ip traffic programs send in connections, programming that Alwill will NOT do for even it's paid version (Personally, Avast has gone down hill from what it was; it comes with PUP detection off by default and the sandbox is not in the free version anymore) Instead, the easiest way is to warn people to watch unsigned programs for unusual activity, warn of those made from common languages used to make Malware, and to use a reputation database that shameful people can manipulate for fun.

Avast even thinks my first attempt at a simple Firefox extension is malware because it has a low reputation; no one has used it yet to vote on it and give it a high reputation. DO NOT TRUST the reputation system of Avast, to make judgements of a program is malware, UNTIL people that actually know what they are doing to detect malware start CLEANING IT UP! I have tried to fix the false positives and I have contacted Alwil with credentials for an API into the reputation system to try to fix its accuracy.

C++ is hard; this program, sc13ms, is NOT made in C++ for the time it would take. The easiest way to make it, without spending days on the gui, would be to use C#, .net, or Visual basic. Uugidoki chose to use the modern C# with .net. Now, because most malware IS made using .net, because of their need to make connections to the internet and send the information they spied to collect, Avast automatically ASSUMES it is malware. Uugidoki ONLY used .net as an easy way to make a user interface (GUI).

I was writing a "helper review" the other day for this program, to help people with any problem they may encounter, that I forgot to submit before closing the browser. the legit s of the how-to-solve was explaining how this program works and why people run into problems they do. The ONLY thing this program does is:

  1. 1) Store the settings you make in the program in an .xml database file, as to what modules (mods) you want to use in offline or online modes, and
  2. 2) Rename module files that you don't want to be loaded in that mode (online or offline) to end in .1000package file extension, so that SimCity ignores the file; this is all the while making it easier than having to rename the files yourself or, like most, having to move around backups of "SimCityData" or SimCItyUserData before starting the game.

As any new versions come out, I will be the first to say if there are any suspicious activities about it as Ive been analyzing this for 2 weeks on a sandbox virtual machine before you said anything about the false positive of avast. It doesn't even make a connection to any server to check for a new version of the program for auto updating, like most of the spyware that avast WILL let by and you probably already have on your system. A lot of Firefox extensions are adware and spyware but avast only warns of the legitmate ones because of the faulty reputation system.

I reckon both offensive and defensive are voicing with the same good heart for the benefits of the community, especially oldnavy who cares to write in such depth. I'm sure no member of the community would hesitate in encouraging the kind of awareness and enthusiasm that SheepsesPC is displaying. Thank you both, and we all need you.

I wasn't done; im posting screenshots :) Im just sick of the good programs being given a bad reputation and the true malware/spyware being acclaimed on CNN/Fox/MSNBC/etc because they love what the programs do (like my"dirty"pc.com) but don't really know what ELSE they do. Maybe these companies DO know what the programs do and don't care because of the money from advertisement/recommendations OR they're in with them to profit from the spying themselves.

I ran the atrocious "mycleanpc.com" on a virtual machine of a clean windows install; it "found" 35 threats, demanded I pay it to fix them, to then install spyware and malware to intentionally cause the "computer" to run slow and have problems. I don't know how no one has done anything about these people as their ads are still on TV!?!?!

Im a CS consultant and I'm tired of the bad people giving good people a bad reputation, no reference to SheepsesPC. I switched from engineer to consultant because I was tired of people being taken advantage of due to their lack of experience and, because they were taken advantage of, people were skeptical of my work for them being abused before. I was removing viruses from windows 3.11 on Tandy sensations in 1993 on Supranet.

People need to learn how to tell the difference between malware and spyware WITHOUT using an antivirus as their source. Yes, it took years to learn and you have to constantly stay up to speed on the changes in programming and what is and is not possible with it. YES the .net is highly possible to be used as malware/spyware but it doesn't mean it is being used by the person who programs using it (UguuDoki).

My lost review I speak of was mainlined "EVERYONE THAT USES OFFLINE AND ONLINE MODS TOGETHER SHOULD HAVE SC2013 MODS SWITCH"

Avast calling programs spyware just because you didn't pay for a digital signature from Verisign is their coordination to help Certificate Authorities stay in business; it was a good idea for the CA market but terrible they allowed programmers of spyware/malware to buy a digital certificate and not review the programs they're signing. Otherwise, we could trust every program that has a verified signature.

First I want to thank everybody for taking the trouble to respond, and especially UguuDoki for his magnanimous response. I know that Avast and AVG are notorious for false positives and I am aware that every thing you said is true @oldnavy. That is why I took the extra step of not removing the problem automatically with avast and re-scanning with Malwarebytes which confirmed the result. I only posted the comment to share my experience with the exact file I had. I'm in no way leveling an accusation of bad intent @UguuDoki and assume the problem arose after the program left his hands.

I fully intend on downloading and using an updated fresh copy this excellent program again.

SheepsesPC, there is no need for an updated version, other than to have checks in functions to catch for when people have changed the files manually from what sc2013ms expects the filename to be and maybe a little more user friendly (when it detects a new module, ask for the settings in a popup and when it detects one missing, notify the user). This current version is CLEAN; it is only alerted because it doesnt have a valid signature, no other reason. It accesses no files outside of SimcityData\SimcityUserdata and makes no network connections.

SheepsesPC it seems like i wasted my time in explaining WHY avast is giving you a false positive for this and why it is clean. I didn't write that to discredit you; I wrote it to help you understand:

running for 4 hours now and no change in network: sxlvtl.jpg

this is WHY avast alerts of suspected malware:

x5a693.png

The problems people have with application errors is because of their .net version and/or because of changes they made to the module files sc2013ms already knew about.

Until there is a valid digital signature, the next version and the next will always be alerted by your avast because of your settings in avast. Turn the hardened mode off.

Uguudoki, from now on use the same publisher and signature for your programs so that when I submit this to avast, it will alert of no future versions.

from now on, I hope my original post replying to SheepsesPC will help people understand how files are misconceived by avast as malware:gen32 when they have no signature and are compiled from .net, web applications. Yes, .net is used for malware a lot but uguudoki did not make any malware in this. The source code is on your pc that, if you are a programmer, you should review for yourself. The only reason uguudoki used.net is for 1) easy user interface programming and 2) cross-compatibility with mac and pc without having to make 2 binaries. The binaries (the .exe file) is compiled by YOUR pc using .net framework; therefore, as said, the source code is in front of you in the files that you can look through to see what is and is not possible with this program, at any time.

Happy modding!

My online city got rolled back.  I launched from the switcher, toggling online mode, and nothing was set to load online, but got rolled back anyway.

Thanks again!

@Monte Gaming
Thank you for the video! I have added your link to the application info.
You shouldn't have needed to run or manually shortcut the application from the unzipped folder.
Setup should have automatically yielded a shortcut on desktop, wonder why it didn't happen your side.
Please also check out the Modders Edition, in which I have left everything to be discovered by the user.
If you have time for some exploration, a tutorial on the Modders Edition would be quite helpful to some.

.Net Framework doesn't like "Wendall & Donna" so just change it to "Wendall AND Donna"
