Offline-Only Mod: “MagLev as Subway”

This mod add a new set of MagLev tracks and stations to the game, so they mimic a Subway system rather than an elevated rail one.

The stations do not need the Academy or ControlNet in order to get unlocked and running. They do not futurize the areas around them.


You will need to have Cities of Tomorrow in order to see the stations and tracks in the MagLev palette.

Much like for the MagLev system, you'll need to place the stations on roads first and then connect the tracks between them. Subway tracks should show up with a green highlight while in the Maglev Palette or while using the Bulldozer tool.


To install this mod, just extract the rar file into your SimCityData folder.

What you need to know about this mod:

  1. This mod is for offline mode only, and will cause rollbacks if played online. Make sure your remove the package file before going in multiplayer games.
  2. You need to have Cities of Tomorrow in order to use this mod.
  3. The subway tracks are tunnel paths, and therefore cannot cross the sea level. It may be difficult to use the mod in low-altitude cities.
  4. Make sure that the transition path is flush with the MagLev track when drawing it, or you'll get some missing art.

I would like to report missing subway entrances also. 
For now, I'm going to attempt to use the Elevated Railway entrances instead, and just transition as desired. 

Perhaps those are overriding the subway entries?

Too everybody that has issues, provide us with a screenshot of your SimCityData folder, in most cases the issues is caused by incorrect load sequence of the mods you use. This will be less an issue in a near future.

I figured out how to fix it. Go back to Project Akar and install the subway sub menu add-on. It doesn't seem like you have it downloaded.

Alright I installed Project Akar and the subway entrance shows up, but now I have the new problem of my roads missing to solve. I really wanted to avoid using Project Akar. And the PA page says the subway addon is entirely optional, plus this page says nothing about requiring PA to function properly. 
So... unless I'm mistaken, I'll say Kamsea has found a workaround for me to use, but the original problem is still unsolved. That being the subway entrances missing without Project Akar. 

 

In the mean time, I'll try and fumble around with that mod till my roads come back.

I am able to plop subway entrances for avenues but I cannot for streets. Any thoughts?

Hey,
 
I had the same problem. When I try to place it on a regular road, it said object blocked. I bulldozed a section of the road and replaced it, then it seemed to work for all the roads citywide, even the ones I did not bulldoze.
 
I'm guessing it either has to do with the original road was created b4 I install the mod or perhaps the bus stops etc... Either way, hope this works for you.

Does not work in the subway underground passage overground as 4 image. Please tell me what's the problem ?

"maglev as subway"" dont work with "el train", remove one of them, start new city

 

Maglev As Subway + El-Train + Roads With No Traffic Lights = NO don't do it.

Hello MaxisGuillaume!  I recently picked up this mod along with a bunch of others, through Skye Storme's mod pack.  As I began playing, I encountered a problem.  My MegaTowers were not receiving any power from level 4 on.  Instead of the lines showing power and water flowing into the base and then upwards, there were diagonal lines going from in front of the tower and connecting to the first 3 levels, but no such line connecting to the 4th level or any level above that.

 
I also couldn't connect roads to the roads at the base of the tower, the cursor wouldn't snap to them, and trying to draw them over the road simply overlapped two roads without actually connecting.  Although cars and pedestrians were still using that road as though it was connected, and power/water flowed through the road.
 
After a great deal of time spent removing mods and narrowing down the problem, I was able to identify two files that were conflicting with two other files.

The first two files are both from Xoxide's UniDirectional Networks (UDoN) ( http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29585-offline-only-mod-%E2%80%9Cunidirectional-networks-udon%E2%80%9D/?st=400#comment_646978).  The specific files that are in conflict are:
 
- 009_OFFLINE_DLC_UI_O_ECTS_SUGC_TEAM1_20_0818_1_8_UDoN.zip
- OFFLINE-ONLY_UniDirectionalNetworks.rar

Your MagLev As Subway mod is one of the files conflicting with the above mods.  The other is a Pedestrian Path mod, also by Xoxide.  ( http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29473-offline-only-mod-%E2%80%9Cpedestrian-paths%E2%80%9D/ )  I have made a post on Xoxide's page as well to alert him to the issue.

I made a post in the forums that details the process I went through to identify the problem, and includes a couple links to pictures from my game which show the problem in-game.

I want to add an update after my previous comment.  I did some further testing and discovered if I removed ALL of my mods EXCEPT the four listed above, my MegaTowers worked fine.  So I realized there was another mod(s) causing the problem.

On further testing I found that the real culprit is with "Roads With No Traffic Lights" by MaxvSk.  ( http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/29678-offline-only-roads-with-no-traffic-lights/ )

In summary, here were my findings:

RWNTL + UniDirectionalNetworks + UDoN = No problem.
RWNTL + PedestrianPath + MaglevAsSubway = No problem.
All 4 of the files - RWNTL = No problem.

RWNTL + All 4 other files = Broken MegaTower

I'm making a post on MaxvSk's page to alert him to the issue.   :)

Overall, awesome mod. However, i did find a conflict that if you use this mod with Bi-Level streets by Maxvsk 

, that the underground subway track overlay would disappear and you'll won't be able to see where you laid your tracks underground. Thought I bring this up to community, so people know about this conflict.
