Ancient Greek Theatre  1.0

About This File

Well, finally I've made something that in my opinion is worth uploading on the STEX, so here's my first upload ever: an ancient Greek theatre. I know, it's a quite simple lot, but hey, you've got to start somewhere with learning how to make lots :)

The theatre appears in the landmarks menu. It's a 1x1 lot, so you can build it against a hill (like the ancient Greek did).

Plop cost: §0 (as the ancient Greek built it)

Monthly cost: §50

Bulldoze cost: §250

No dependencies.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: As some of you suggested, I started a BAT thread which you can find here: https://community.simtropolis.com/topic/50539-smf-16-bat-thread/ Check it out for my proceedings on the texturing!

You mean like landmark effect? I don't think I set one, it's more or less just eye-candy. I can set it if you want, but I totally have no idea which value would be good for this one. What do you think is a realistic monthly cost then?
Thanks for the review anyway.

very nice :D

But it needs textures
I'd rate it 10/5 for the idea
5/5 for the model
2/5 for the details
1/5 for the textures
5/5 for the screen shot :D

I'm going to rate the file 4 :D
I like it

I know, I'm not good with textures yet, any ideas to improve it? I thought maybe I should add some grass on the seats to make it look more old, but I have totally no idea how to do that, because the seats are 1 block...

Maybe you're right, but I designed it assuming that 1 tile is 16x16 meters. The theatre is 3x5 tiles big, so it would have a diameter of 80 meters in game, which I thought was more than enough.

Just try to search in google for maybe, "stone textures" and such, whatever you need..You can also modify those texture by photoshop or photofiltre (wich is easier than photoshop).

Then you can just grap that jpg or whatever picture, onto your object, and that's it :D
Done

@IL. : well, I did find some kind of marble texture and I put it on my model, but it appeared too small on it, but I didn't know how to change that

Why don't you just start a BAT thread? You can show progress shots there, ask for help and feedback, receive suggestions, have others scrutinise your BATs for visual glitches or shortcomings, etc.

I really like the idea, especially how you made it possible to "embed" this theatre into a slope - very realistic indeed! I can't say that I like the textures, though. The latter can be helped, though... ;)

Not bad! But I think, as this is an ancient Greek theater, you could give an appearance of an old building of stone to your job. And also increase its size to more realistic dimensions. :)

Good idea, good model, the size is OK. But, the textures terrible, they need a lot of work... opening a BAT thread would be a great idea.
