About This File

This generated fantasy map is for people who want a lot of shore line. The configuration file is set to all large tiles, but consider changing it to any layout you like. The easier way

To change the config.bmp file is to load the map into Landscape Designer (by Greyveil) and generate a new config.bmp file. Of course, MS-Paint at high magnification will allow easy modification as well.

Enjoy, and have fun.

I'm kind of a novice with all the awesome files here on simtropolis. I'm doing some exploring and learning about them and some of the software which creates them. My goal is to have a region of big cities and I've tried to duplicate this with the software and with using some custom regions such as this one. But I fail to understand how these files must be implamented with the SimCity 4 folders and haven't been able to get them to work yet. It didn't help that my computer thinks the land and cloud layer are the same file. But yeah, putting them in a new folder in the main Regions folder or the My Documents Regions folder doesn't seem to work. I want to use this terrain but my inability to understand how these work is keeping me from doing so. What's the trick?

Ok, i had the same problem. Trick is, that You have to create new region with the same name as the wanted region folder in Regions. Hope it works!

Well, folks, this is a standard map as designated by the game. To get this into your game, and all maps I create is quite simple.

There are two files that matter:
terranova.jpg
config.bmp

The rest are documentation (if any).

Create a new folder at ..\SimCity 4\Regions\Terranova and copy the two files into it.

Open the game and navigate to Terranova. The Region will display according to the config.bmp file layout.

Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+r

You get a dialog box. Navigate to the ..\Regions\Terranova folder and select the terranova.jpg file (make sure it is in the selection box). and press OK.

The game will render the map's terrain features. It may take a long time, and cannot be interrupted nor switched away from, so go and get a sandwich or something.
