About This File
Skadar lake ( Skadarsko jezero, Liqeni i Shkodrës ) is the largest lake in the Balkan peninsula. It is divided between Montenegro (2/3) and Albania (1/3), several kilometers from the eastern coast of the Adriatic sea.
It is a cryptodepression, with surface 6 meters above the sea level and bottom on 38m under the sea.
It has several rivers which flow into it ( Morača is the biggest of them) and only one, Bojana, which takes it's water into the Adriatic Sea.
This region is two times smaller than actual size ( mountain heights too
) 7x9 huge tiles. It includes cities: Podgorica, capital of Montenegro, Bar- the biggest Montenegrian port and Shkodër, the biggest city in northern Albania. The lake got it's name after the last city mentioned above.
***NOTE
The Drim river is shown here from it's exit of a huge dam until the mouth in the Adriatic sea. Lake above the dam is not shown due to it's higher altitude.
Cheers from Serbia!
