Maui & Kaho'olawe, The Valley and Target Isles. The Hawai'i Map Pack. 1.0

Kaho'olawe literally was indeed a target island, previously used by the U.S. military for live-fire naval artillery and bombing practice. It is also a forbidden island closed to the public due to the dangers of unexploded and decaying odnance scattered about its landscape and war-era abandoned bunkers. After decades of misbegotten agricultural deforestation, topsoil overcompaction and erosion, and then outright bast bombardment, cleanup and restoration efforts slowly continue.
