About This File

Do you want a hydro-electric dam that doesn't completely block your rivers, making complete ferry routes impossible?  Do you want one with adjustable dam lengths so as to make sure it fits your river?  Well, with this, it's possible.  This package, which has no outside dependencies, makes that possible!  It comes with a small hydro-electric plant, which will be found under your power list and produces 2000 in power, along with one-square tiles of dam segments that are found in the parks section and can be placed in the water.  Hope you enjoy this upload!  And feel free to check out my BAT thread at https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=37&threadid=114456&enterthread=y

I give you points for effort as it is a neat idea, though the building and dam, are very plain though, textures are too perfect and you might want to add some roof junk.

I can see problems, the textures are too repetitive, it is box like, no junk to break it up, and i can see no way for it to actually work. Dont get me wrong, you will be good at this eventually, but you need advice and an area to show improvements.

The best way to do this is by setting up a BAT thread, and i suggest you do this soon. You can get valuable advice here and showcase your latest stuff, and this will undoubtably improve you. I think you could be good at this, but it requires more finishing off and work.

I suggest you start on the textures, work out the size of the walls and make a jpeg in an image editor and alter it so it isnt repetitive. This is one of the biggest things you can do, trust me. Then i suggest you put some air con things and fans on the roof to break it up.

Add windows to the walls to break them up, and give the base and extenders some extra bits to make them less repetitive, like pipes for example. Good luck with trying these things, and although its daunting, a finished BAT that you have made is a brilliant sight.

The thing that bothers me the most is that you didnt model anything below ground level. Becsue of that the entire building appears to be floating on top of the water instead of actually going down into it. The textures could use imporvement but for a first bat this is nice. Youre off to a good start.

Good start and a neat idea. That's worth something these days. Could use a lot of improvement though. Texturing, lotting, lighting and other aspects need to be honed, but all in all an ambitious start. A bat thread could be a big help. I know a lot of people are out there with a lot of knowledge who could really assist your efforts. I look forward to your next project.

The idea is really good, I agree with people comments on the textures, but I would also consider for future versions the possibility of having a road on top of the dam wall

yes, i do have a bat thread but people keep ignoring it :p so how am i supposed to get help from that? as for the roof junk, i could have added more, yeah, that is where i admit messing up...the windows, that i considered adding more (there's a number of them on the front and downstream side, and some higher ones on the back), but i made my design based how buildings i've seen are made and most power ones don't have many windows (at least here)

Good job, although I do agree with the above post that it looks too perfect. Might want to rough it up a bit and maybe add some roof junk. Just a thought, keep it up! :)

BAT threads die because the original creators let them die. The last time you (or anyone else for that matter) posted in the thread was nearly a full month ago. And you were the last poster. I gave you advice in that thread, and you brushed it off, saying that my suggestion wasn't the best way for you to learn to BAT. So, I guess I don't know what to tell you...

i'm sorry, i just said i don't learn by just doing one single project constantly but instead learn by starting small and working my way up, which is actually a way many people learn easier. I did gladly accept other advice. Also, as i understand it, i'm not allowed to re-post in the thread, and even if i keep editing my last post, it won't go to the top or anything, so people are going to assume nothing new

I downloaded it, played with it for a while, and when it burnt down guess what!? There was a field of radiation around the power plant. I'm sorry, but I give it a 3/10. Otherwise, don't let it burn down.
