About This File

G'Day Simtropians,

This time it is a map of BrisVegas.

This is big, there is something for everyone here! Hills for mountain development, coastal plains for farming communities, rivers, canal living, tropical islands. Its got it all.

This map was produced with dem data and satellite imagery and is scale and terrain accurate. It is large at 8196km x 73.728km and includes all of Morton Island and most of North Stradbroke Island.

Use Wouanagaines mapper or terraformer to import BrisVegas into SC4.

See me up CLOSE and personal.

I think that's all, have fun.

Cheers

Tried 3 times to install. Followed readme but no luck. In fact my SC4Mapper doesn't have a 10000m setting in the drop down. Are you sure the readme is correct. If so you must have a completely different version of Mapper than I do. Too bad to, looks like a great map.

Thanks for the comments all. awsomeking I have now dl and installed the map ok with mapper, the readme was wrong in the height plug, choose 1000m not 10000m. pagenotfound use the the supplied config.bmp and all cities will be large except the bottom row which are medium. gaston it was meant to read 1000m not 10000m. I have edited the readme to 1000m. Cheers

nice work on all your maps drunkapple, they look awesome, especially as they're all in Australia. Can you point me in the direction of how to use the satellite imagery to get accurate maps like yours, I've been wanting to do lakes entrance in Vic. but it's seemed too fiddly to do by hand. Keep up the good work

THIS... IS... THE... ONE!!!!! This is the last region I'll ever need! I can honestly say I have never been more giddy about starting a new region from scratch and I can't wait--but drunkapple, for the purposes of the config bitmap, could you possibly include a larger copy of the terrain grid above? I'd love to personalize the cities' locations and such, but the smaller pic makes it difficult. Thank you thank you thank you!!! :-D

I had to render manually (mapper is playing hijinks with me and not exporting anything) but the render was successful, and this thing is MASSIVE (big enough that Terraformer decides to give up rendering it. :p). Now to open the tiles so my terrain mod shows again. For reference folks, this goes out past Ipswich, up to about Caboolture in the North, and probably to somewhere around Boganlea in the South. IOW, pretty much all of Brisbane's covered by this map, which is quite a feat.

So...um..I do everything that he says to do to upload and render the map....but it just sits there for a second and then it says that sc4 mapper has encountered a problem and needs to close. What should I do? Is my computer too slow or something?

cammo did you use the standard 1000m height mod? how long did your puter take to render the map? i found it still took 4-5 hours of opening and closing eah city tile after rendering in mapper. don't forget there is 400 city tiles here. gosshawk delete the folder mapper produces and try again. as i find i sometimes get that error.

I've been trying and trying to get this region going and I'm not having any luck. I've narrowed the problem down to the config (not the supplied one--my own). Does SC4M have an aversion to certain colours or perhaps the total number of cities available? I thought by remaking the config that I had maybe created too many cities, so I tried creating some small cities with the supplied config and it still won't render. Really puzzled here!

Update: Regardless of how many overall cities I have--the minimum or several hundred more--I simply cannot include small cities. At the moment I've played around with the config to include large and medium cities jumbled in an arrangement that I'd consider a good second choice for me, but the exclusion of small cities really perplexes me. *shrug* ...Still though, this is the most widely enjoyable map I've ever seen drunkapple! :-)

Oh and samjam from what i've tried with colours is as long as the red for small cities is 255 then the blue and green can be anything up to 254, ie the pixel could look white, same goes for the other colours. for blue that must be 255 and red and green can anything but 255, green the same. You get the picture. Don't forget it is 74 x 80 kilometres so the config must 74 x 80 pixels. cheers

Thanks drunkapple, I'll give it a go the next time I d/l a region. (This one will take me a looooooong time though, so it won't be any time soon. Tee hee!) ...Currently I'm building with large & medium only, which is working fine. As expected, the region is breathtaking to play, bro! :-D
