Transportation Safety Project  1.0

About This File

A collection of over 40 original highway signs or freeway signs in green and blue for use on elevated and ground in-game highways. This kit contains exit off-ramp signs, overhead gantries, variable message signs featuring both traffic travel times and accident warnings - along with a custom speed limit gantry complete with monitoring cameras.

This projects main focus is to create a standardized, properly scaled set of signs, traffic lights and other BATs to compliment your roads and freeway systems. I have worked hard to ensure accurate details and properly scaled prop sizes to add even more realism to your transportation networks. These BAT's are specifically designed to work in and over NAM interchanges and in-game highway pieces. This kit will not however place properly on RHW pieces, and a separate volume will be released for those pieces.

All lots use transparent textures, custom query sounds and are properly located in your Misc Transportation menus, near the bottom. Additional statistics are below.

Note: This is an updated pack to the original Volume 1 signs. This update fixes problems placing the signs on slopes and corrects the missing texture bug. Additional enhancements were made to the Variable Message Sign nightlighting as well.

You must bulldoze the original signs and delete the containing plugin folder before installing this pack.

Please view the TSP_Readme.txt file in this download for further Q&A and additional details.

This pack has NO dependencies and is ready for the game...

While I have tested the lots to the best of my ability, I do not have the benefit of the thousands of users on Simtropolis who can test them in their game and help locate any potential bugs. Please, if you discover a bug or see a problem using these BAT's, PM me ASAP. And yes, I put this together because I love the STEX and the game itself! Ooo-raay!

huh? BAT models or props never have dependencies, LOTs can have as many or as few as needed. Nice BAT models. I cannot wait to see the RHW version,...

Answer to north country dude: I'm not sure what you mean, or perhaps I am confused. This is a fully functional, ploppable LOT or BAT, as I have seen the terms sometimes interchanged. This is not a model set - it is a complete, ready to use set of ploppables for use in anyones game... just to clarify. :)

Followup to jpc42991: This bug has been confirmed. Placing the lot portion of the sign on sloped terrain causes the missing ground texture bug to occur. This version will not therefore support sloped placements, and an update to the lots will need to be released in an update pack.

To be clear, a single model type on a simple Lot set should never have dependents, but a prop set designed to span many different Lots would have them. Also, if the models were made to be plopped directly (see Plopperizer at SC4Devotion) they would be 1) slope conforming, and 2) not need Lotting,...they could be "plopped" directly over ANY highway, like any of the Mayor Mode "plop" modifications. btw, I had given an 8/10

Followup to north country dude: Found dedgren's tutorial, thanks for the post - although I wish I had seen that 1 1/2 weeks ago when I started this... :(

Answer to n-m-2k8-yeah: YES! I have run into some bugs which need to be corrected this weekend, plus NCD pointed out a new method to build these signs with, which might be a much better alternative to the LOT method we have now. More to come!

These are very nice, but I'll wait for the update before I download so I can use these on slopes. ;)

What settings did you use for the nightlights!? The settings you used make the signs look extremely realistic at night!

Answer to pilotdaryl: They are target spotlights set in the gmax model, and placed right on top of the light prop in front of each sign. I then turned the hot spot down to a very small radius which only "glows" the center 2/3s of the signs face.

Awesome, thanks. Also, would it be possible for you to create a more Americanized version of the TSP? Contact me - pilotdaryl@hotmail.com - I might also be able to send you some old development files.

I can't wait for the RHW Version!!! Also, I'd like to suggest ones for diagnal highways and ones that can also be placed on the side of ground HWY. This is something I've been waiting to show up for long time! Thanks! :-)
