About This File

Fresh water is not always available everywhere in the globe, so industrial processes were developed to use seawater and transform it into fresh water.

The most used one is called reverted osmosis, and it consists in pumping at high pressure the previously filtered seawater (in the green-coloured tanks in the plant are sand filters) through a set of membranes (inside the main building, visible at night that only allows H2O through it.

Doing that, we obtain fresh water and concentrated brime, that is later diffused into the sea. Fresh water is then re-ionized and pumped into the water system.

This process needs quite a lot of energy, and the plant has a little power plant with 2 generators and 2 smokestacks.

The building comes with a 6x3 lot that must be placed on land and an overhanging jetty to be placed on water, so you can build beaches and another around the building.

Reminder: this building uses High Tech jobs, so be sure to have enough educated workers before plopping it ;)

So it looks great, though I noticed two things: 1) It quickly got real dirty, which is actually much better looking! 2) It doesn't make much water, which is why I'll give it 4/5. I plopped about 3 next to each other, and added some pumps and towers to make it more useful.

For those who complain about low water production, just think that this bat is aim to give water treatment more variety. Just try to admire the details of this bat.

I might have my own go at doing an SWRO plant because this one, while a good-looking BAT, isn't very realistic, nor is it useful due to its ridiculously low water capacity.

To all those that complain about this not putting out enough water, think about the fact that this technology hasn't been improved much in our time to produce lots of fresh water efficiently, worse yet, it takes lots of power to process all that salt water. Something like this is more of something you'd either use to compliment your other water sources or if you live in a place with no fresh water (rivers, lakes, etc).

This reminds me of that show where they guessed what would happen if the worlds population doubled to 14 billion people and after a few years, LA had to resort to using costly and power hungry desalination plants
