No Track Checker Mod  1.0

About This File

This mod tells the game not to make those awful green track checkers around train stations any more. Just install it and they are gone. Take it out, and they come back. That's pretty much it.

It's hard to take a picture of something that's not there, so I just tried to get the idea across.

This mod is completely safe, it cannot not harm your existing cities, and nothing is saved in your savegame files. It can be added or removed at any time, in case you need a picture of a track checker for a CJ or something.

The .dat itself contains a simple, short LUA init-script file that removes the association between train stations and track-checkers. Track-checker sightings should be quite a rare event after installing this.

Nice. But how bout a mod that reduces the amont that spawns out instead of getting rid of it completely? Just a thought

Is anyone else still seeing the track checker like Siller above reports? This mod probably only works with Rush Hour. Another mod could be loading after this one and reversing the effects. If there's a problem I want to fix it.

Update: This mod has no effect at all without Rush Hour. It can't; Vanilla doesn't have the proper "hooks" needed to turn off the checkers. Only RH has them. Sorry, SC4 Vanilla users, it's out of my hands.

Nice. If anyone remembers, the forerunner of the GLR used the rail checker for the tram automata on the rail network. This will be downloaded and appreciated. I hate those rail checkers. Thank you

@mikeseith :I remember that old mod... and then there were the "invisible model" track checkers so you didn't see them, but the crossing gates still went up and down...I found this script by accident while looking for something else and it made my day too. I hate those stupid green things. They're a plague!.

This was a good idea, why did the game makers have these guys constantly run back n forth in the first place!?

I have seen comments in the original SC4 Classic data files... it looks like the Track Checker was supposed to indicate that the rails were being re-checked for continuity. This may actually be true in Classic; without looking at the source code I can't be sure. I'm working with Sillur to figure out what's going wrong - it may be a Mac problem, or a conflict with another rare mod, or a simple forgot-to-unzip-the-file problem; I don't know yet from the information I have.

Cool! Good Job! Whenever I play U-Drive-It with trains I always seem to crash into them:p

I dont see what you mean simply from the picture, could you include a better quality one, or is that as good as it gets?

@swat-medic: The track-checker is very small. It's just a pixelated green blob in-game, even at the closest zoom. Unless you were joking, in which case, LOL.

Great! I didn't even know these were track checkers. I thought it was a mistake by the makers of the game :D
