NHP School and Hospital Usage and Population Graph MOD

By JPlumbley

Ever wondered why sims dont goto school but you have a huge EQ? Or why you have about 70% of your sims within 2 age groups?

Well now this mod will fix those 2 problems. Your graph will look much more balanced instead of warped. And because you have more sims in the younger ages I have also fixed the problem of your under used elementary schools and have made them useful!! In a city of about 50,000 in testing I had about 4,000 sims under the age of 10 and about 3500 citywide in elementary schools. This mod was designed to have between 70-80% of your population between the age brackets 1-30going to school which is much closer to RL than the vanilla version. This is the first release, testing has shown that these values should work up until about 500,000 population beyond that has not been tested.

Hospitals have also been modified to have usage of about 25% of your population. If you think about it in RL hospitals are always being used as a drop in doctors office for anything from runny noses to broken arms.

No conflict are known to exsist as of this upload. To report an abnormality or confilct or any other problem please do it here:

Population Age, School and Hospital Usage MOD

There are no dependencies. And this MOD works with old cities, in old cities you will see and imediate jump in school usage and that will obviously cost your budgets more.

I take it you don't know the first thing about demography and population studies. In that regards SC4 is pretty realistic. Without your mod.

Im sorry, How can the vanilla graph be realistic unless the population is shrinking by not having as many kids as the generation before it? If you go by the Maxis graphs your population should be shrinking at an amazing rate considering when the 40-50 yr olds die there is no population to replace them.

Ever heard of the Demographic Transition Theory? Take a look at the Population graphs (by Age) of Germany for example. You literally have a "birth death" in developed regions of the world.

Births Deaths still can be equal by my graph as well. People do die before the Life Expectancy. Not everyone in the world lives past the age of 20. But you also must take into effect that the reason places like Germany have a bigger population of 40-60 yr olds is because of immigration. But for the population of the entire world as a whole must have a more balanced or more births than deaths for growth otherwise our world would end as we know it.

Poor. You really need to do your homework on the relevant demographics. KRAM4346 is right, this mod does not make statistics any more realistic than before. 2/

I agree with Marcos. Whether or not it makes the game more realistic, it is going to be useful for some people (109 downloads), and it will hopefully benefit their game. That's what the STEX is about.

I look at the comments made here, and I wonder what is becoming of our beloved STEX sometimes!! First three sentences say it all, and the fact that other users agree with "personal" opinions here is a little bit discouraging. Keep up the good work jplumbley!!

What a biased and close minded view. I guess since its like that in germany the rest of the world is the same...Besides whats realistic in game is offen different then real life. Look at pretty much any build statistics there usually very far off real world . unless you have 30 people per house hold in germany lol..anyways looks great to me i'll use this for sure thnx for your hard work.

I always wondered were those kids went when my population got 50,000 to 60,000. i thought thay were just skiping school and spending time at the new stadium downtown. as for 30 people per house if you have two adult's and 2.3 kids (demography and population studies and all that) a house i just don't think there would room for more then 15 or 20.000 a map (by the way) nice job i'll try it thanks

Just a general reminder to please be polite with your comments. Please also remember that people play the game in different ways. Not everyone will like every upload but please be polite and fair about it.

what? being "fair and polite" means that we're not allowed to make negative comments about any uploads, or even discuss potential problems with them? I think a lot of people are getting just too darn touchy. it seems that "10/10 OMG" is the only accepted comment around here, even by some moderators. if a lot like this doesn't actually improve realism, I sure want to know about it. please, folks - chill out. ok, that is all.

Thank you for your comment Killerdad... DJtim, NP buddy! Sam thank you for coming and attemptin to put a stop to this nonsense, unfortunately buster decided to come around and add to the nonsense. There is nothing wrong with this mod buster and in my description I never claimed the graph was realistic I claimed that the school usage and hospital usage were much more realistic. So these turkeys have no right to put down my mod for their own personal opinions and not the content.

i'm sorry, i just tried your mod recently but it doesn't seem to work. it did affect my population by age graph, but the # of students in my schools are still the same, and they still decrease down to just 8 or so students from about 200. strangely though my library usage shot way up.

Why should Sim City have to be based on modern countries in today's world. What about Sim World, why can't it be different? Thanks for providing us with an alternate population scale and new challenges. Should be fun to play with.
