About This File

Slaytfork Mill is a representation of a large sawmill complex. This Landmark Lot measures 9 tiles wide by 20 tiles deep and has both rail lines transit enabled. The lot produces its own power , so has no need for this service to be supplied. For some reason, which someone far more knowledgeable than me will probably be able to fix, the lot will only power itself and not adjacent lots. Trains entering the lot from the road edge will disappear on the lot as the line there is a dead end. Those travelling through the log dump will, due to the fact that they cross part of the model, turn green. I haven't found a way around this yet.

Slaytfork Mill represents 3 weeks modelling, almost 500,000 polygons, and a final render of just under 17 hours! If you like this lot and use it please leave a comment here or on my BAT/Lot thread which you can find at https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=37&threadid=74636 - you will also find larger pictures of the mill there.

Excellent, well-constucted layout. one Q? Are there any possible jobs lurking around there?

For some reason, the game cannot handle lots that produce power AND water for the surrounding lots. I suggest to remove these properties, since they often mess up your city. Other than that, very impressive work!

Very nicely done, however I agree with Andreas. The game doesn't doo well with lots that provide both power and water.

Awesome work! This could open some new job options for your sims... could you let it have some manufacturing jobs? I'll wait with my rating until the Power/water bug is ironed out.

Many thanks for all your comments. Thanks Andreas for pointing that out ... update done, now only produces power. I tried to give the Lot jobs but failed :( The inspiration came from a friend who has this on his model railway, then I found that site tomb and realised where he got the model from.

You want an industrial manufacturing lot with jobs? I could give it a shot for you... no problem. No landmark effect (who wants to live near a SAWMILL, for crying out loud? ;o) ), but jobs instead sounds like a good deal to me. If you permit, I'll try it. :)

This is excellent work... Just sort out the little niggles and it'll be perfect for a logging community...

This is a very nice lot, and it looks even better in game, these small screen shots just don't do it justice. You took a lot of time on this one, and it shows. Good Work.
