This is such a great start. I pointed you in the comments of the suburban meetinghouse to the LDS AEC page which has some information on different site plans (for instance, a stake center meetinghouse). There are quite a few meetinghouse styles used elsewhere besides the US and also in the US: Ireland, Australia (wow, such midcentury modern), a solar-powered meetinghouse, and some older designs that might interest you. Not only would seminaries and institutes of religion be small but solid additions to a promising set, I'd also really love to see some temples. The only temple that's ever been done for SC4 was San Diego, and that's about 2005. I'm not Mormon, but coming from Arizona (which has lots of them) and being an admirer of LDS architecture, it's great to see these. Since you're in Hermosillo, the one there would be a good start especially since it's a lot like the standard style of the last 15 or so years of LDS temples.

I was just thinking this week that this would be an awesome addition to SC4. Coming from Arizona, these are everywhere. If you ever plan on doing more the LDS Church actually has plans of a bunch of standard meetinghouses on their AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) website, complete with AutoCAD .dwg files, as well as examples of meetinghouses from around the world. They also host plans for standard seminaries and institutes — I'd love a small seminary BAT to place near my high schools, or even a temple for some of my more populated ones!

Network Widening Mod (NWM) - Development and Support
Ramona Brie replied to Tarkus's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Haida County's Department of Transportation ordered some new interchange expansion, but they found that the fake wear on the street had not been done properly: You can see that, though the yellow lines are in the right place, the "turn" wear at the intersections with the TLA-3 is not. It makes it look like the traffic coming off the MIS (I'm referencing the one on the far right) can make a right turn into opposing traffic on the westbound lanes. On closer inspection, flipping that texture across the x-axis (the center of the TLA-3) would fix the issue. Actually, the county has since incorporated (as Copper Creek-Haida, two cities), but they're trying to order six-lane curves for their highway but finding that ORDOT (their contractor) doesn't sell them yet. The SimCity 5 Thread (Formerly "Is SimCity 5 Ever Coming Out?").
Ramona Brie replied to xterra09's topic in City-Building Games
Here is what I would do if I were EA: Release the SC4 source code, with a caveat that only EA can commercially sell the game. I'd work with the existing SC4 community in several areas: -Stability. Improve game stability with respect to the puzzle piece bug, multicore, etc. -Inclusion of mods, particularly CAM, NWM and RHW, into the general game landscape. -Unlock weather and water pumping features hidden or masked but present in SC4. -Modernize game appearance. This could then be sold as a SimCity 4X or 4S, for free to beta testers (community) but sold to the general public. I would then start work on a SimCity 5, with a variety of features: -Full 3D. -Non-grid-bound camera. -Feature parity in most all areas with SC4X. -Modern online play. This would make people looking for a fleshing out of SC4 or a new cheap game for older computers happy, and it would also satisfy the general public looking for a new SimCity and those hardcore fans. -

HELP: City Stagnation Problem
Ramona Brie replied to dementor101's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The (very immature) way I used to build cities was a grid of 6x6 blocks with avenues in between. Here's a taste: http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/8573/camarenapeedeejunctiond.png Nowadays, I am better at creating commercial corridors, feeder streets, etc. For you, perhaps the avenues and a bunch of high-density or mid-density zoning would be good. Suggestion: download all the SFBT rowhomes and some of the Hong Kong stuff once you have CAM. You may also want to consider reserving a few major corridors for avenue-tram or as subway lines with RTMT stations for a mass transit angle. -
HELP: City Stagnation Problem
Ramona Brie replied to dementor101's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I'm going to offer a new approach: Have you heard of CAM (the Colossus Addon Mod)? If not, I highly recommend it (available from SC4Devotion). (Registering for that exchange will also give you access to some extremely fine content.) If CAM (which does make major changes to the way the SC4 simulator handles growth) doesn't help, you may want to redesign your cities. I prefer maps with large city tiles, and I often spread out things very nicely. One design model I like and would recommend is the famed CJ/MD Tarkusian Cities, which may also help with planning out a realistic road network. I also recommend using the most recent NAM traffic simulator. Commute time in SC4 is given in minutes, so "41" means a 41 minute commute, "89" means the commute is about an hour and a half, etc. -
(sorry if the 929x511 image is a little wide) I am dealing with a traffic challenge in this suburban city. The Sanriku Springs area is now the subject of a traffic survey. Here's the problem: suburban commuters need to go south. They really should be using Knoxville Avenue, a TLA-5 that continues north as an RHW-4 out of town, but they've chosen Chapel Flat, and I've responded by upgrading Chapel Flat's speed limit. Sanriku Springs is a limited access road fronted by Minami and Valley View. Valley View is the drainage route for the homes in the top left (and beyond). The green numbers everywhere are traffic counts. I need to make this not so awkward and congested. Seriously. I want to do the following: reduce traffic on Chapel Flat, push traffic to Knoxville, and fix the issues I'm having with congestion on Valley View from 16th to Chapel Flat. Minami Lane is very quiet (19 cars right before the intersection, then it has none farther west). Compare with the intersection of Chapel Flat and Sanriku Springs. Got any advice?

Dealing with a traffic challenge
Ramona Brie replied to Ramona Brie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Yes. I plan to extend the commercial strip up Knoxville. I have a really nice one at the southern edge of the city on Castle Avenue. I've used most every NWM network by now – I have MAVE-6 in one city, MAVE-4 for the main street in another, TLA-3, one stretch of ARD-3, OWR-4 in one city, as well as a little OWR-3. This city also has some unique OWR-1 loop roads. @Travis: Can't do that, not with homes lining the entirety of Chapel Flat. I thought the best solution here is to downgrade Chapel Flat and cut off the southern connection. If there's still significant traffic (>450 cars) on Chapel Flat, it'll stay as is without the connection to Sanriku Springs. Because of the way I've done this, that northern section of Chapel Flat will be renamed "9th Avenue NW". (IRL I'd put a sign on Sanriku Springs: "NO ACCESS TO CHAPEL FLAT" – or cut access to Chapel Flat in the direction of commuting.) My issue with use of Chapel Flat is that it's a residential street. Realistically I think most commuters would use Knoxville, but this is SC4. One other concern: I don't like the congestion on Valley View between 16th and 9th/Chapel Flat. Austin, the city I've shown here, is actually a really nice city. I originally wanted to do something in layout kinda like Show Low, Arizona, but Austin has since taken on its own character. Lots of suburban sprawl, but very neatly organized with gridlike streets and very few bends. A quality park system. And a lot more. OK. SC4 crashed, but it was intact, so here's the before/after: On Chapel Flat: B 733 / A 43 (Chapel Flat returned to being a neighborhood street) On Valley View: B 554 / A 356 (and they're using Knoxville) Springs W of 9: B 736 / A 653 (fickle commute) Springs E of 9: B 618 / A 1293 (a more than doubling, which clearly absorbs most all of the commute traffic that went on Chapel Flat) The people buying all the new commercial zoning on Knoxville Avenue will be really happy. Knoxville gets about 1400 cars a day now, making it properly used. (It'll be mostly big box stuff though.) I have a Maxis block mod, but the Coit Tower is a popular boutique in the city. I want it to stop! -
By the way, Cougar, the CAM (another BSC production) is the Colossus Addon Mod. It increases SimCity's number of growth stages which allows for a more realistic development of buildings. It's also SC4D-exclusive, but it's not in any way related to the NAM. The other big acronym is the Canal Addon Mod (CAN-AM), which creates functioning canals using pieces from a set made by simgoober.

There should be a selection of ramps in the second menu. Once you've clicked on the ramp button, Tab and Shift-Tab to cycle through the types. (You also need to do this for various NAM puzzle pieces.) Home and End rotate.

Is 2.4 likely for Intel CPU clocks? If I get this - even beta, it will run on a Boot Camp partition on a 2.2 Intel Mac.

Future of SimCity Official Discussion Thread
Ramona Brie replied to Compromise's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Maxis needs to rebuild SC5 from the ground up and support SC4 custom content if possible. The main thing I want is a universal binary for Mac OS X. (I'm not running a patched-up SC4 Mac with no nightlighting when Fusion could do it if I got it!) -
Or VMware Fusion, which has THE better DirectX support, THE better Bluetooth support, and THE better upgrade system. I'm considering Fusion to run SC4 too!

An omnibus is much like an encyclopedia. And yes, Rosetta is THE PowerPC emulator, no questions asked.

Help me find missing dependencies
Ramona Brie replied to BattleField-2142's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
"And what does "Le propri -
I must agree. The only reason I still download from the STEX are the new NDEX works...and if that moved to SC4D like everything else has, SimTrop is stuck, with no way out. I remember the day when something bad popped up on the STEX and BSC got in a riot, which probably threw them out of SimTrop's court and into one they made into SC4D.

I'd like a flat map (game default height) with lots of rivers running through it, but large expanses of land between rivers. Soft, smooth hills away from the rivers on the main landmasses. Make one river wider than the rest, for that will be the main river. Must fit 5x4 city tile and be an SC4M format map.

Nightlightning custom BATs... What am I missing?
Ramona Brie replied to sandokan's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
sandokan: You need to have SC4 in its default location to get build 640, nightlighting for custom BATs. I had to move from an external HD to the C:/Program Files/Maxis/SimCity 4 Deluxe location (default) to get it to work right. ---- email: The serial number is on the SC4 jewel case. You register it at simcity.ea.com. Then, you can get build 631 and 640 (in that order, as 631 is vital). The retail version comes with build 630. -
SimCity 4: Rush Hour: Prima's Official Strategy Guide
Ramona Brie replied to jamezz_2005's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I have a guide for a non-SimCity game, and it is chock-full of mistakes, especially saying one type was weak to another when the reverse was true and using the wrong game maps (the ones they remade were NOT used except in that game's exclusive sections). -
