  1. Can't find it?... Ask here!

I'm looking for some W2W CS growables in the same sort of style as the ones in this neighbourhood: https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.2719771,-123.0695719,3a,60y,161.16h,94.48t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s8qc7QZe3ozMpWtt0HJhTHA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Can anyone point me in the direction of some lots similar to this?
  2. Thank you very much for your help! I am aware that I will not be able to carry over anything I have already built, but I think it will be worth it anyway
  3. I'd like to take a region and make a new region that has the same overall topology but is 4 times the size (twice as long in each direction). Is there any easy way to do this?
  4. Multi-Purpose Stations

I had considered that (and tried it out with the lengthwise Elevated Rail changed over to GLR), but I was worried the tram/road intersections would impede traffic too much. The rest of my city has tram on avenue/road/street, with roundabouts at major intersections, so I wanted to switch it up a bit for the CBD and use elevated rail instead, with the hopes that it would enable both the trains and the cars to run more smoothly. This is what I ended up going with. I'm hoping the tram intersection doesn't slow traffic down too much. If it does, maybe I'll just take all the tram/elevated rail in the CBD and turn it into a subway. In fact, I don't know why I didn't just do that from the beginning. That certainly would have made all of this a lot easier. The only real issues now are the unrealistic slope the tram runs up at on the left and the wrinkles in the road and street. I've tried smoothing out the wrinkle in the road a dozen times but no matter what I do, when I place that transition piece it adds a wrinkle again. I guess it really doesn't like being on that steep of a grade. (By the way, is there any way to filter ploppables or growables in the STEX by lot size? I tried searching for "5x6 Ploppable" but got results of every size.) I'm a software engineer, so modeling and texturing are the only parts of that that really sound hard to me. I don't really have the artistic ability for that. I was hoping to be able to use existing models and combine them particular ways to suit my needs. This game is already eating up an awful lot of my free time though so as useful a skill as it may be, I don't think I'm ready to spend a huge chunk of time making brand new models from scratch.
  5. Multi-Purpose Stations

For the CBD I'm in the process of laying out, I have an elevated rail and monorail running lengthwise through the middle, and elevated rails running cross-wise hooked up to tram-in-roads up at in the main part of my city and down by the beach. This is what I came up with as a sort of junction for them, but I'm still not quite happy with it:. I'd really like to combine these two stations into a single station with the two parallel lines right next to each-other instead of being separated by one tile as they are here, as well as have entrances at all four corners, and a subway connection. If I can do that, then I will be able to add turning lanes for those intersections without having to place the station absurdly far from them. I'd also really like to create a station with just two parallel lines, one at 0m and the other at 15m so that I can run Monorail and Rail side-by-side along the ridge that separates my Rc plateau from my small Industrial valley. Are there any tutorials available that can show me how to create these things?
  6. Car-Free Industrial Area Issues

I have some industrial buildings that don't touch the rail line , but still seem to ship freight out via a neighbouring building: Here, the brown building (Zaidi Sprockets) is not directly touching the rail, but ships its freight via the Solar Panel U-Store-It next door. Similarly, the right-most semiconductor plant ships its freight through the semiconductor plant just to its left. In fact, about half of the buildings I have which are not touching rail seem to be shipping freight through their next door neighbours. Some even ship it from two buildings away. The other half don't seem to ship freight at all and don't seem to be bothered by it. I was initially going to do this too, but I thought it was still necessary for residential areas to have roads. I ended up deciding to use roads anyway, since ambulances, firetrucks, furniture vans and moving trucks still need to get around somehow. So far only about 10% of commuters in my city drive with the vast majority of people taking the tram and/or train to work, and people have pretty quick commute times with very little car traffic so I'm pretty happy with the results so far. I don't think this would have the effect I'm looking for: from what I understand, industrial buildings that don't have direct railroad access will drive their goods to the nearest freight train station and dump it there, and from there a train will take it to the edge of the map. I don't think it can work the other way around (ie a train taking it from the building to the freight station, then a truck driving it to the seaport).
  7. Multi-Purpose Stations

Would you happen to have any links to resources that I can use to learn how to make such modifications on my own (or to take existing props and combine them to make new BATs)? It would definitely be nice to make my own stuff where the thing I need doesn't already exist. The same goes for certain missing tram-in-road intersection pieces I'd like to create. But Monorail, Train, and Elevated Train over Tram-in-Avenue and Tram-in-Road all exist, so why not HSR?
  8. I've noticed there are a couple of multi-purpose stations included with the NAM that let you run whatever type of transit you want through them. The only problem is that the two lines must be perpendicular. Do any multi-purpose stations exist where the two lines are parallel? Also, do diagonal versions exist? Alternatively, does there exist a Monorail/Rail station? Or a Monorail/Elevated Rail station? And on a slightly unrelated note, are there any puzzle pieces for HSR or Bullet Trains over tram-in-avenue and tram-in-road?
  9. I'm attempting to build a city in which car usage is minimized. To that end, I've added a small industrial area in which contains no roads of any kind, only railroads and pedestrian malls. It has grown nicely, and people are getting to work by taking the tram to their nearest train station and hopping on the train to the industrial area. On the surface, it looks like everything is running nicely: But let's take a look at where all the freight is going: It looks like all of the factories are sending their goods along the train to the connection with the neighbouring city instead of sending it to the port. I'll note that the neighbouring connection is quite a ways off screen and that even the furthest factory from the seaport is still significantly closer to the port than it is to the next city. As a result, every one of my factories that sends freight has "long" freight times. As you can see, the seaport has a railway connection, and it is connected to the rail system. It also has a "road" connection via pedway to the train station, so it has workers too. Can anyone explain to me why nobody ships their freight through this port? It is a CDK3 Container Seaport which accepts rail connections, but its used capacity is 0. The second issue is that this industrial area is fairly hilly. It's actually relatively flat compared to the surrounding areas, and I spent quite a bit of time smoothing the bumps and making the grade from the coast up to the hill that acts as a buffer between this area and my R/C neighbourhoods as gentle as possible: However, if you zoom in on some of these diagonal train stations, you can see they look absolutely terrible when put on a slope. Not only that, but many of the pedestrian malls are half-buried under grass, giving the whole area a weird, janky look: I tried using a slope mod to ensure my rails were built using realistic grades, but even with the least restrictive mod I could find, the area was still too hilly for me to lay down these tracks. Are there pedestrian tiles and diagonal railway stations that play more nicely with slopes, or do have to bite the bullet and flatten everything, leaving weird-looking, extra steep slopes at the edges of the area? And if I do that, what do I do with the train tracks at those steep edges? My last question doesn't really require any screenshots. Put simply, industry generates garbage. With no roads, the only way for me to remove this garbage is via rail. Do any mods exist that allow this?
