  1. While we have been "assured" that this won't be as bad as the SC launch, and I believe them, there are many problems that I fear will not be fixed. A: Will we get better zoning tools? B: A better UI, by that I mean a vast improvement. C: What will the simulation be like? D: The plopables are horrible, as well as all of the models. E: How smoothly will the game run? F: When will it be available to the US? G: WILL it be a US game? H: Terraforming? I: All textures, besides for terrain, are horrible Ect ect. What do YOU want in the game, will YOU be open to buying a Beta? and will YOU buy it in any way, shape, or form? I'll personally watch this closely, as well as watch the markets and snipe on the lowest price IF I want it.
  2. It's time to ask the question that we all want to avoid. Is Simcity 2013 dead? In my opinion, yes, it is. I will be upgrading to Cities Skylines soon, hopefully. Farewell to Simcity.
  3. Wow! I got almost everything I asked for except social interaction and disasters! I'm also not sure if Cities Skylines has pre-zoning. I can't believe that after almost a year of being absent my post is at the top of the general discussion!
  4. What distro of Linux do you use?

Also, I just realized that you joined simtropolis 3 days after I was born.

  5. Kaspersky security firm hacked.

Ehhhh. I'm not sure if rogue antiviruses could be called ordinary malware. That kind of does them a disservice. They are pretty freaking complex and epic. Just go look at RogueAmp's YouTube channel. He specializes in rogues. I'd recommend you watch his video on a rogue antivirus called "Nava Shield"
  6. Xoxide, I have a question for you. Have you given up on Simcity 2013? If so, are you and the SUGC moving on to Cities Skylines, or are you and the SUGC retreating from simtropolis and city simulators entirely?

  7. Must. Have. Cities Skylines. GAWWWWWHHHHHH!!!!!

  8. I haven't checked, but I wonder if the servers are still up.
  9. I don't own Cities Skylines yet, but I heard somewhere that they are preparing expansions. By the way, XxSkitxX, I like your avatar. Stupid Apple. Sucks that I'm stuck with an Ipoop
  10. Kaspersky security firm hacked.

First off, I have to say that if you are still using a paid antivirus, you are wasting your money. I, a technology enthusiast and a cybersecurity hobbyist, use free anti-viruses (I have to recommend Avast! Free Antivirus, Panda Internet Security, and Comodo.) While many free antiviruses offer paid versions, you're essentially donating to them, besides a few features that you might want. It's ironic that Kaspersky, a legacy antivirus company, failed to keep themselves protected. I personally used to use Kaspersky and can guarantee that it isn't very secure, and most free antiviruses will do better.
  11. Welcome back, sorta...!

Hmm! A new update is fitting for the entire status of the city sim genera, with Cities Skylines taking the cake. The new style reminds me of Windows 8 Metro style, except that the new style used on Simtropolis doesn't suck.
  12. Summer is back and as am I! I've picked up Simcity again, and am pushing to get Cities Skylines!

  13. Clash of Clans

Clash of clans is a free multi-player mobile game. It involves building a base strategically, training an army, and attacking. Like Simcity 2013, it has a massive youtuber appeal. I personally love this game, yet can't find a clan, which is an important social feature of the game. Anyone have anyone opinions or questions about the game? AND DOES ANYONE HAVE A CLAN!!! If nobody has a clan that could be joined, we should start a Simtropolis CoC clan. Peace and, as I always say, Cheers!
  14. I see so many awesome mods, and i wonder: am I alone in the mod-free universe? lol, while I have no opposition to mods, I'm just curious, does anyone play mod-free?
  15. What Does This Community Need?

True, but this is community is newer and prone to more curiosity. I hope people who always complain about how there isn't a mod for something will actually make their own mods once they have the resources, time, and knowledge to do so. I'm not even sure how to patch a bug with a mod. There was one for a streetcar avenue tunnel bug, but I think most of the bugs lay in some of the json file scripting. Moving/copying some other Arcologies from SimCity 2000 into this rendition of the game would take someone with skill with modeling and lot creation, ie., Danny50205 (who is working on a city simulator project). It'll come in a while; I just know it! Limits bring creativity. That's all I can say; however, the number of maps isn't going to change unless someone like you cares a whole heck of a lot, nothing's going to get better, it's not. Well, thank you! I do like the logic used in this post, and yes, I would agree that mods wouldn't actually fix everything, but for right now, I don't want to wait another two, three, or ten years for another awesome SimCity. Even if I did, that would have to be one freaking awesome game; it actually would probably be pretty awesome, considering what was learned from this game, but EA just wouldn't allow that experimentation unless they had a change of heart, or the industry is just "suddenly" changing its ways. I'm glad you do like the game and actually acknowledge its weak points. I'm just like you when it comes to finding the flaws in things: I have to really look and dig into the mechanics Besides, I'm presuming that this community will eventually get as advanced as the SC4 community. They fixed most of their bugs! Due to community feedback, I'm currently setting up the SimCity Lexicon on a wikia page until someone wants to host a server for a massive website or something, but at that point, I wouldn't know what to do. I totally agree. It is impossible to create a realistic sprawling metropolis without being able to connect up the cities side by side. That is one of my biggest complaints about SC2013. Yes, but that always goes against the developers' game theme of having multiple cities interacting with each other. Project Orion does let you, in many circumstances, have a city plot which lines up with another city plot, allowing you to have some overlap in making a sprawling mega-city. 1) That's two words. 2) That's more along the lines of an Expansion Pack or DLC, not not a simple mod. The main difference lies in the amount of work: mods can be whipped up in a couple hours/days. DLC or EPs take weeks to months. Military is a broad topic, and it's more suited to something like a Cities of Today Expansion Pack. I totally agree. It is impossible to create a realistic sprawling metropolis without being able to connect up the cities side by side. That is one of my biggest complaints about SC2013. I don't want the cities by each other as much as I would like to use a map editor be able to make a TOTALLY FLAT MAP to make up for the small city size, maybe with some water on one edge. So tired of using the handful of flat maps in regions. Oh, and it would be nice to place the oil/coal/ore deposits downwind of my residential. Honestly - I know this is a dead horse - but they gave us curved roads and in the same sweep made them inefficient to use with the small city sizes. That's an interesting perspective. I've heard that one during the beginning of the SimCity controversy; however, I think having totally flat maps can be pretty boring in terms of character and variety. The cities would either look like big blocks of high-density cities, or something that looks pretty bland. As mentioned, the devs had a plan in mind with the game including real-life trade-offs that usually happen when natural resources don't mix with peoples' preferences. About the simcity lexicon- Do you want any help?
  16. Hey! Well, this is most likely just a one night/hour posting spree, but I'm back for a short while! Lets hope it continues!

  17. What Does This Community Need?

This game needs a do-over or a re-release. I have no horribly strong grudges against Simcity 2013, but soooooo many people really, really hate this game. EA/Maxis needs to come out with a new Simcity, and TAKE THEIR TIME! I don't think mods can fix everything (no offense, I love mods), only developers of the game that know EVERYTHING, have the big bucks, and the huge compters and servers, can fix the game. Like I said, Simcity was a fine enough game. In fact, It took me a year to see the problem with it (though I was younger, and I did keep failing nontheless, which made me think there was something wrong with me.), and even then, I didn't hate the game. I think the main problem with Simcity was a): EA rushed it b): they followed a recent model for online, patchable games, where you skip playtesting and just patch the game after launch, ergo launching a broken and incomplete game. I'm getting off topic. To recap: Too many people hate Simicty 2013 for it to live on Mods aren't the secret medicine for the game (again, sorry guys) We need a simcity 2017, or 18, or however long it takes to make a great new simcity. And I do like the idea of a Simcity 2013 Lexicon.
  18. Hey! Sorry if I haven't been active in a while, but other intrests have been time-blocking me from playing any video games. I'm unlikely to do much more on the simtrop forums for a while and may delete my account. I'm doing lots of school preparing for high school and also doing animation, so forgive me if I'm very, very unactive. Good luck to you all and have a happy 2

Nonono. I meant all the mods I had installed. I never made a mod. I said that because I was a part of some beta tests and was part of the mod discussion.

  19. Huge lego sale at my local fred myers tomorrow. YAYYY

  20. Steven Hawking fears AI will end human race.

I don't like that Hawking has been acting as a celebrity, but while it not be in the greatest intrest of science, the man deserves it. I have always been a huge fan of Hawking, and a man of his achivements should not be judged by kids/adults on a little game forum. I belive that AI is not only possible, but ineveitible, and I subscribe to Roko's Basilisk. It may sound like science fiction, but so were flip phones and drones... Robots in general were science fiction... Hence the past tence. I'm not saying that we are gonna have warp drives, but I'm saying that those AI's are possible and quite probable. Though mankind does need a better understanding of himself first.
  21. I love it! Maybe a whole seperate data layer that you can access with ease from your actual city. I hate how you just have to guess and check in simcity, unlike an actual mayor. I want a lot more micromanagement tools. For example: Naming streets myself Naming different suburbs and annexes Naming other things (but not like shops and people, that's too far.) Gouverment policies More control over events (and more events.) Disasters: Hurricanes! Riots Severe Thunderstorms Blizzards Car Accidents Aliean Attacks (but a bit upscaled from simcity) Pandemics (ooooooh!) Intelligent Dog Uprising (maybe a little more of a joke than anything, but would be cool) Cosmic events/black holes/no sun. Other things: Plopable interchanges A small social factor (chat with your friends, offer them recources, collaborate and give your friends annexes of your city.) Interstellar colonisation! That's all for now
  22. There is already one I think, though i would like to be able to bulldoze the origional one without the game crashing

Getting everything I need to make more and better films (accept Sony Vegas to add music clips and masking effects) for Christmas. Gonna borrow my sister's tripod and professional camera, use EOS Client on my PC, and I'm getting like 5 or more lego sets.

  24. Bravo! Encore! This is the best modding tut I've come across (sorry cap ). I was drifting off from Simcitypak, but you managed to get me interested again at 9 at night! Only a very few can teach me at night, so bravo once more.
  25. I think the new cheat mods need to be put into a pack. Not that I'm gonna download them, I prefer capton's enhancement mods. I just think it'd be a nice touch for those who will use it. I also think there should be some cheat mods that allow a user to check 1 of 3 boxes to set different values for the cheat. For example: Sewage 1: Enhancement (a little more realistic) 2: Cheat (Quite a bit more extreme) 3: Zero is my Hero (makes all costs 0 for said item) Or maybe 3 seperate files that you can chose from. Kinda like XoXide's Bridge-tunnle mod, where you can download extreme or balanced (or try both and get 0 effect, get stumped for a week, and find out that you have half a dozen incompatibilites lol) Or allow the user to imput their own values in a simplified way. I know this is a little too advanced though.
