Is SimCity Soceities underrated or a bad game?
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to Mr Saturn64's topic in City-Building Games
Bad, and overrated. So don't. -
Is sim city 4 still worth purchasing?
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to KIERONOO's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Well, considering SimCity4 has better costumisation options than SimCity 2013, it's actually worth a try either you want to compare both games or you think the new one sucks. -

Do you put the Major League Stadium in a residential district a CBD, or elsewhere
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to Mr Saturn64's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Usually near the CBD. No one's put a stadium right in the middle of a suburb (how do you sleep when crowds are cheering and jeering every random night?) or an industrial area (of course nobody wants an extra serving of chimney smoke on their hot dogs. This applies to all stadia ingame. -
I like it, but there are a few flaws to notice, and improve: 1. The repetition of buildings is detrimental in mimicking a real-life city. No neighbourhood of any borough of any city features countless copies of the same building. As in your case, there's too many Wren Insurance buildings (and a whole lot of others) all over your city. 2. While the parks are okay (Central Park is too small), one thing to note is that Miss Liberty is on an ISLAND. Putting it on Staten Island (or any other place other than Liberty Island itself) kills realism. 3. NYC is known for its bristling skyscrapers, especially in Manhattan. Even the less dense areas in New York has some tall buildings. Your version lacks exactly that: there's still a lot of low-rise in Manhattan, and there's a lot of unused space here and there. The McDonald's north of Central Park is also too suburban. 4. You need more seaports and airports. NYC has 3 airports (2 if you ignore Joizey) and miles and miles of harbour space. The least you can do is cluster more seaports near the one you plop in. To conclude, it's already a fine job for beginners. I suggest you check out the Simtropolis Exchange and download custom buildings and mods. The Network Addition Mod (NAM) is perfect to solve traffic and employment problems in town, and there's tonnes of buildings in the exchange that's taken from real-life New York. You can also check out the Omnibus for tips and tutorials, such as creating straight coastlines (perfect for plopping Battery Park) and others.

Cool site for Custom content (No spam)
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to Demonbuilder101's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
Well, I'm not going to rage out here, but fortunately most of ST already knew of the site. However, thanks for the info! WARNING! Site mentioned has problems! Might be front for virus attacks! Do not approach! -
IMHO anything that doesn't require collection of epic random items or spamming your friends with epic random requests. Which pretty much leaves SimCity the possible only choice.

What radius circle belongs to what building?
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to Seron's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Is there a mod that gives each building it's own color for radius circles? Or is there a mod that gives all buildings an infinite radius? The word in bold should have been its. There are no mods yet that enables individual radius colour. However if you want to check the radius of a particular building, feel free to abuse the Query tool. -
Will you buy Simcity 2013?

But wouldn't that mean the edges would still not match neighbouring cities, as if you never reconciled the edges?
-
Either it's a bug or it's your map. Apart from being small, is your map mountainous? There are some cases where one city's too hilly and its neighbour too flat, causing the entire city to be affected by reconcilation.
-
Reconciling edges only matches your city's terrain (on the edges, that is) to match that of surrounding cities. Only things you've put too close to the border will be affected. If your buildings are at the centre of the map, they should be all right. In the beginning the city's terrain already matches neighbouring cities so reconciling edges makes no difference; it's only used after terraforming, especially if it involves terrain near the borders, or you decide to flatten the whole map.

Does anyone know where can I download custom-made buildings for SimCity 3000/Unlimited? Or if anyone has these buildings? I'm looking for these: -MetLife Building, New York -Willis (Sears) Tower, Chicago -Space Needle, Seattle -US Bank Tower, Los Angeles -AON Centre, Los Angeles OR Chicago -TransAmerica Pyramid (optional; I would appreciate it if anyone downloaded this before the legal takedown and still has it around) As you might've known, the SimCity Exchange is not around anymore and the CityBuilders.co.nz exchange only has content made by Maxis. Don't suggest these two.

Need some help with with strange El-Rail behavior
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to vortical's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I usually use roads/avenues, heavy railways and motorways for intercity connections, and rapid transit (el-train, tube, monorail) for trips within town. Also, if you use large city tiles (4x4 small city tiles), try put houses and workplaces in the same city.- 19 Replies

What governs the direction the arrows face when placing zones?
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to lhrob's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
The front of any building (indicated by the arrow of course) has to face a road, no matter what. Although there is a priority on what road the buildings will face, you can rotate it to face ANOTHER avenue/road/street. Rotating it to face open ground or railways is not possible. As to the second question, it could be a bug. Just guessing. -

SimCity Vs Cities Xl 2012
AwkwrdPrtMskrt replied to vietnam67's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
SimCity 2013 Hans-down. Heh. Hans-down. Man, why did I even come up with this lame ish joke? Anyway. IMO Cities XL lack variety in rewards and landmark choices. And remember that Citizens XL are over 9000 percent FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUglier than your average ugly SimCitizen. That's just a bit of my two cents on the matter. I'd give a full quarter, but I haven't any. Crap. I need to stop telling bad puns. -
Just asking: Are City Journals (CJs) limited to SimCity 4 and Cities XL cities only? I've been thinking of actually publishing a SimCity 3000 CJ. (Yeah, yeah, laugh at the guy with the nuke-Humvee...) I'm serious. If it's restricted to SC4 and CXL, I can understand.
