@ woelfwynde: Oh, I bet it's one of those staircases where the light stays on for 2 minutes and then gets switched off automatically. :p Man, for a first BAT this is amazing! I'm definitely going to use this building, and I can't wait to see more from you. Keep up the good work and thanks a lot!
  2. Townhouse

Wow, your series of W2W buildings is great! I can only agree with Simgoober: A tad more variation, and they're perfect! Which doesn't mean that they're not pretty darn great as they are. Downloading now... thank you for your great BATs!
  3. Robust Robots Inc

Futursitic and spectacular yet absolutely credible! Many jobs, too. I just love the details like that diagonal parking lot. Only the lawn texture looks a tad artificial IMHO. But all in all, your industrial BATs are all winners. Thx!

It's amazing how you manage to have the cities' development and growth look so natural. No pre-planned motorway grids, no empty street systems waiting to be filled with skyscrapers - just a peaceful little town that's slowly growing into a city. It permits wonderful buildings like Simgoober's Washington Mutual or his Marriott Hotel to shine in all their glory, where they would be hidden among mid and high-rise buildings normally. And everything looks so organized, so peaceful. My cities are always pretty lively and chaotic, that's why I like to look at your CJ so much. You have such a different style...
  5. Banespa Building

r102 said he was going to make a growable version. I'd also like to have this as a growable building - New York Style (1940) would fit perfectly. I love the building and the night lights; I just think the lot could have a tiny bit more detail. It's still great, though!
  6. Washington Mutual Corner Bank

I reckon there's nothing left to say that hasn't been said already. Thanks and keep up your good work!

The Burger King Foundation of Sick Children... C'me on, they aren't that bad, either. Hmmm... now that the first mid-rise buildings begin to show up and the village starts growing into a town, it will be interesting to see what will happen with the street & road network. I fear the city Council will have to start planning a new road network to limit traffic jams and other possible future inconveniences. Once again, it's amazing to see how good a single small building can look if it's not surrounded by zillions of skyscrapers. Looking at Mayfina and its neighbour towns is like a vacation for tired eyes... I can't wait to see that Swimian Plaza over in Mayfina. It ought to be perfect there: Not too big, a caribbean / mediterranean touch, ideal for a coastal town in a warm area.

Aw, shoot. I've been away for too long. I would have voted for postion 3 for the airport. Then you could have extended the railway line up to the airport... oh well. However, it's nice to see those small rural stations and the parking lots by the airport. Good to see you stepped in where Maxis didn't provide something appropriate. However, tbh I didn't care about the elections too much... they're frustrating enough in real life. Nothing against your CJ, though... just my taste. Nice to see that some mid-rise buildings are developing in Mayfina; I bet you'll show us some detail shots soon, eh?
  9. Tokyo Metropolitan Government Center by Meta

Evil Energy emitted by the building, muhahaha! :P No, seriously: I bet it's just a little Photoshop effect ardecila added to show more clearly which of the depicted buildings is the one.
  10. RP Variety pack 1

"The bushes will be eternally grateful" - LOL! ^^ You know what? You just made three of those little things of a particular category: You never missed them, but once you have them, you never want to miss them again and wonder how the hell you could do without. Me likes! :)
  11. Riveria Island - A Land in the Indian Ocean

Whoa, so many pics! It's the first time I have seen someone include pictures from within the apartment buildings in his city! Nice touch! Vanderaaps Dutch rowhouses also fit this area very well. What I liked almost more, however, was that low-wealth residential area with all the small R
  12. Custom Choppers Inc by Underworld

...would be a hit! (Damn limitations) :P All in all, this is still great, though, and it's good to see industrial stuff on the STEX. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!
  13. Custom Choppers Inc by Underworld

Wow, this is at least a 9! Particularly great roof junk / textures. Just two suggestions: 1) The lot looks a bit more urban than industrial; I think there should be some parking space in front of the building, or at least access to the parking lot. 2) Some details to be seen through the huge window
  14. Comunication Tower

TBH, this concrete base (realistic or not) is just not my taste. However, you did a very good job on this - it would be nice to see a night pic if the nightlighting is so spectacular. My only criticism is that the "polished" lot IMHO conflicts a bit with the concrete base...
  15. The Grinning Hog Pub

Maybe the back side could do with a little ladder to the rooftop or something, but that's only a suggestion, no actual criticism. And an illuminated coloured sign would be the icing on the cake. ;-) But as I said, this is really nice as it is. GJ and thanks for making it available.
  16. The Grinning Hog Pub

Yeah, it has a kind of generic look, but that's not a bad thing at all. Besides, the textures are great and very detailed, especially the roof! The nightlighting, too, is pretty convinving. A simple and generic building, but pulled off very nicely.
  17. Riveria Island - A Land in the Indian Ocean

That's a pretty hidden spot for a factory, right down in the fields. But I like how you sculpted the entrance, with those trees and the bus stop. That's the good thing about your CJ: the focus on small details.
  18. Biovaara ltd

Wow, now that's a luxury method to fill I areas, hehe. It looks very detailed! The nightlighting is great, too! Not flashy, but very carefully made. Kind of reminds me of your Semi-Intelligent Components building. Great! A 10. Thx for making industrial stuff!
  19. Riveria Island - A Land in the Indian Ocean

I think the location is fine; many historical cities have been founded on peninsulas because of the good strategical position and access to the river as a means of transportation. Another nice site would be Tuflar Bay. The place where those mansions developed sure looks like a very pleasant spot to live... I'm afraid I couldn't afford the $ 2.5 million, though. And I gotta go search the STEX for that National Bank; it's a good idea you made it government-owned because it looks so... so... imperial? official? more-than-business-like? representative? Dang, you know what I'm getting at. Another thingy: Wise Guy poetry time! I hate to be telling, but there's a small glitch concerning the spelling: It's spelled Nouveau Rich. Hehehe, never mind... sometimes I can't help it. Glad to hear that you will be able to post so much more, but do take your time. Looking forward to the next post already...

To deactivate the U-Drive symbols, go into the My Sims menu - that's the third and last one of the main menus: God Mode, Mayor Mode, My Sims (or whatever it is called). Inside this menu, there's an option to turn the symbols on/off. Concerning a hotkey for screenshots, I'm not sure because I use the in-game function myself. I have a progra, capable of making screen grabs, and you can configure your own hotkey there (e.g. [strg]+[F11] ), but as soon as I switch back to Sim City, this hot key no longer works. I'm sure somebody here will be able to help you, though. Back to topic: That's really a huge region you have made! Are you going to make it all rural areas, or are you also planning to build some villages, towns or even a huge metropolis? Whatever you do, you ought to have loads of time and space left to keep this CJ alive until SC5 comes out, hehe...
  21. Riveria Island - A Land in the Indian Ocean

Wow, more beautiful pictures! It's just great how you turn 3 or 4 boring heavy industry buildings into something both nice to look at and plausible from a story point of view. I just hope the pollution won't affect the surrounding fields... And in Mayfina, even a tiny downtown is developing... One suggestion: Could you deactivate those annoying U-Drive-it symbols?
  22. Riveria Island - A Land in the Indian Ocean

I like it very much. I just fiddled around with an inner-city area in a 200.000 city, and it's a nice and somehow relaxing and comforting change to watch such an idyllic and peaceful rural community slowly grow. I also like the detail you put into this. By this, I don't mean only the text; your village has some nice details as well. You didn't just plop that soccer field into a street square, and I like those irrigation canals and trees on and around the fields. Nice touch! Personally, I enjoy this kind of CJ almost more than people just showing off their latest skyscrapers. Keep it up and good luck!
  23. Street and Road Sidewalk Mod

Thanks for the info, woelfwynde. :) But this method only works if your cities are either all urban or completely rural. On a mixed map, the problem remains... I wish Maxis had included a kind of "fill function" for that purpose.
  24. Street and Road Sidewalk Mod

Heiks, read again: He already DID an avenue mod! Search for it, you'll find it here on Simtropolis. It's a very nice mod, but it makes creating authentical-looking rural areas very hard. But that's how things are- you can't have both at the same time. Great work anyhow!
  25. Union Bank Plaza

Wow! If this is your first building, I'm already eager to see the second one. o_O Now if you could make this baby growable, you'd make my day! :P It's simple and realistic, just what's needed. Keep 'em coming! :)
