Nice city! Also I agree, zoomed out pictures are better. Unfortunately on SC4 the very closely zoomed-in pictures get too pixelated. Keep up the good work!

I looked through your other updates, and I like the style you've done with these lots. If I were to make a suggestion, I'd say maybe add more paths to the buildings. Nice work! -

Hi guys, I had to redo this update due to some minor problems with the last one (I accidentally copied the older version of the update onto the page along with the new one, boy was that embarrassing! This update is about the several large casinos in Shaston City, along with some pictures of the city at night. The city is widely refered to the "Atlantic City of the west" because of the casino-lined beachfront boulevard. As mentioned in the previous update, gambling was legalized in the mid '50s as a response to the major lack of economic activity at the time. Since then, the city has grown in prosperity with casino resorts lighting up the skyline of downtown Shaston City. Above is among the oldest surviving casinos in the city, called the Casblanca, with a retro Moroccan theme. The original "Arabian Palace" building was built in 1956, and contains various rooms with luxurious Moroccan decor. In 1976, an additional hotel tower was built behind the palace building. According to government agencies, the casino has been a target for extremist Moroccan terrorists who are "offended" by the "stereotypical" depiction of Moroccan culture. The third largest casino in the city is the famous Carthage Casino & Resort, which is home to the Carthage Theater, an outdoor theater that has hosted many famous musicians. The casino is famous mostly because of it's unique design, and also because it is often featured in movies and shows filmed in Shaston City such as Shaston Vice, a short lived program in the 1980's. King Arthur's is the second largest casino in Shaston City. It is well known for its tacky Medieval decor and many buffets. It was built 15 years ago and since then has been popular for it's cheap rooms. The hotel offers a unique "Medieval Experience" package where the wake-up call includes the sound of a thousand Huns screaming for bloodshed, along with a group of Knights Templar who will ravage through your luggage searching for the Holy Grail. The largest and most expensive casino in the city is the Golden Coast Casino & Resort, which is also home to an exotic aquarium and indoor wave pool. The hotel also contains a shopping mall with high-end boutiques. It is owned by an extremelly Australian businessman, who is in his late '60s by now and has nothing really going for him except maybe his money. This casino, called "Falling Dice", was built in 1985 and is among the more iconic casinos, because of the massive dice on the top of the building. A restaurant is actually located inside the dice... but is often given bad reviews for its "general tiltiness" At night, the avenue is lined with colorfully lit palm trees, along with many neon lights and signs for nightclubs and casinos. Because of very strict drunk driving laws, very few people drive at night in the downtown area where all of the casinos and bars are. Instead, a shuttle service is offered for people who are above the legal limit of alcohol in their bloodstream, which can take them back to their hotels or to other bars. Local groups have criticized the service saying it encourages heavy drinking and makes homeless drunks feel more comfortable with relieving themselves on public transport. On the beach at night, you'll find people getting together and burning fires in industrial oil drums - which I thought was illegal but whatever. Shaston City has its own Hard Rock Cafe, built 30 years ago and still a very popular spot at night. And finally, here's a picture of the Thessalonica Theme Park, with the iconic ferris wheel lit up for people all along the beachfront avenue to see. INTERESTING FACTS: - Shaston City residents are, on average, wealthier than Lorenzinos, however the crime rate is almost double that in San Lorenzo. - Shaston City is located on Santismo Island, which is seperated from Stratford Island by the Strait of Puebla. Tunnel and bridge projects have been proposed, however for now the only way to get between the islands is via ferry or airplane. - Shaston City is rated highly as a gay-friendly city. - According to polls, 76% of Shaston City residents believe in alien aircraft. Despite this, nearby government facilities located off the coast of Santismo Island have denied the existence of U.F.Os... however their poorly-made public announcements of denial have only fueled speculation. - It is estimated that the population of the city temporarily increases by 25% during Winter months... when northerners head down for the nicer weather. San Lorenzo University is the largest university in the region with a diverse array of classes and students. This is mostly a satirical humorous update... because I really didn't know what to say, lol. There are also other courses such as Fine Arts, Computer classes (among the most popular are "H0w 2 Pwn" and "H4x f0r H4x0rz") and Fashion. To get a taste for the diverse personalities of SLU, let's interview some random college students! Hi, can I ask you a question? Marty: "Sure, dude." What do you think of San Lorenzo University? Marty: "This place is really awesome man... I got really wasted last night even though I had a huge exam today. I'm pretty sure I failed it and I'll have to take the entire course all over again... but hey... that means more partying! WOO!" Hi, can I ask you a question? Erica: "Sure... if it's less than 5 minutes." What do you think of San Lorenzo University? Erica: "I think it's full of misogynistic filth... YOU HEAR ME JOHNNY??? I RESENT the idea that we women are for some reason incompetent objects for men to toy with. I DEMAND respect for my two X chromosomes!" Hi, can I ask you a question? Jessica: "OK, but I'm texting with my BFF..." What do you think of San Lorenzo University? Jessica: "IDK... it's like...okay and stuff. *goes back to texting* OMG ROTFL!" Okay, anyways, let's take a look at the stadium: And, here is a directory of businesses in the area surrounding the university: And also, I have a Public Service Announcement from our sponsors:

San Lorenzo, the other foggy city
panthersimcity4 posted a City Journal entry in The State of New Loreto
So..... I've done more alterations to San Lorenzo. I just felt like the city wasn't..... Western enough. San Lorenzo is a west-coast city, but I've always designed it like it was an Industrial East-coast port. Well, I have to balance it out. A lot of inspiration for the city comes from San Francisco, even though New Loretians don't like Californians. The big modern structure at the top of the picture below is the Naval Museum. I also moved the arena and in it's place put a lovely little park, since I realized the central part of San Lorenzo did not have a park!! Like San Francisco, San Lorenzo encounters heavy fog in the sky, caused by the lateral transfer of temperature by wind blowing over cooler water. (Yes, I copied that part from Wikipedia ). This type of fog occurs in coastal Mediterranean climates like that in California and New Loreto. It usually happens either early in the morning or later in the evening. And now, just a bunch of random pics! Thanks for reading! -

San Lorenzo, the other foggy city
panthersimcity4 commented on panthersimcity4's City Journal Entry in The State of New Loreto
escilnavia: I did get inspired to do the Little Italy part from New York, and I suppose the New York-style w2w buildings give off that look too. Zulu2065: Thanks!! San Lorenzo does have culture, it just tends to be all concealed by huge fast food corporation advertisements. sneakeypete: Thanks!! Evillions: Thanks! Tosh.oh: Thanks!! dabadon5: That would make sense since I'm from the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for the comment! -

thecvr and Towerdude, your cities look great, and very real. Here's San Lorenzo! This picture is slightly outdated since I've done some alterations to the city, but it shows a good view of the skyline anyways: Here's a newer picture, during the late afternoon fog. Unfortunately most, if not all of the downtown CBD is plopped, because I'm a control freak when it comes to Simcity4.

Nice city, it looks very bustling and cosmopolitan! -
This update will take a look at one of the city's newest residential structures, called the Bridgeview Heights Condominiums. First, here's a little skyline picture I 'shopped. (I'm starting to enjoy this ) It's actually originally a picture from Oakland, California, which is among many inspirations for San Lorenzo. I'd go into further detail, but that's an entirely different update Anyways, here we head over to the new condos, which are conveniently located in St. Raphael right by the scenic Lawrence Island Bridge. You can tell the towers have made an impact on the skyline. Some more luxury high-rise residential structures are being proposed to be built in the same area. However, due to the nearby airport, there are height restrictions in the area. The proximity to the bridge makes it easy to jump on the freeway & commute downtown, and the towers are also located by the St. Raphael Shopping Center. Anyways, it's a sunny day in San Lorenzo. A great time to be outside and having fun. Now, another structure has also been completed in San Lorenzo - the Mark di Lorenzo Auditorium, named after a historic Italian-American figure who was one of the founders of the city after the territory was acquired by the U.S. Thanks for reading!
