thanks but i tried it a dozen times. you cleared up that the grey scale needs to be that big for me but i have downloaded a couple regions and some render fine while others do nothing or give me that error. i even let it sit for a few hrs while i went shopping and came back to nothing.

but i did download the jpeg and the bitmap. its just that the jpeg is 1025x1025 and the bitmap is 16x16. so how do i shring the jpeg to 16x16?

i have searched all over the forum to see how to do this and the few times i found a link it was dead. (not yet reloaded) i am trying to download the zurich simplified region from stex. the promlem i keep getting is that the bitmap is only 16x16 and it needs to be like 1024x1024 or something close to that. since i cant make the bitmap grow how do i create a new 1 in paint? i read it on here a long time ago but i forgot the directions. something about view has to be 600 tims magnified and add a grid and use green red and blue? im completely lost please help. thank you roy
