Generic Comment #4: Ew, who leaves the grid on?
-
It certainly is a very cool idea! I can't for the life of me figure out how they'd connect together though (at least through region view), and of course if and how they'd come into contact /trade with each other (once again echoing Yoshi). So is that piece of art made from the ploppable SPAM farm fillers? I still can't really tell haha. Also, thank you for the kind words on my region, it is actually the Lake Annecy region in the French Alps, which I downloaded from the Stex I do beleive

T1 RESULTS
Lordyboy96 commented on spursrule14's City Journal Entry in The Great ST SC4 Players Challenge
Well, at least the only submission was a good one. I've now decided I'll enter the next, no matter the criteria. (So long as there isn't several million dependancies/downloads I need!) :) -
I really like that terraforming, it must take a lot of patience to do that. I'll echo Yoshi's excellent advice, and would love to see some close ups of the individual cities Also, what terrain mod are you using? It looks very colourful, especially since I prefer the more earthy coloured ones. As for myself, this is how my region has progressed since I last posted in here: Overall not too much growth (certainly less than I would have liked over the time period), with around 30k population for the region with 10k each for Northshore (North-West of the lake) and Colton (in the South-East) after around 10 years' worth of play. This is mainly because I haven't been able to play that much due to exams and also much of my spare time being given over to looking after a clan on a certain Tank-based MMO. This is one of the things I like about SC4, you have no time pressure since you play completely on your own and can come back to it at any time. However, other than simply expanding the current settlements, I'm not really sure on where to build (other than avoiding building up mountains, in lakes etc.) so any tips/diagrams would be appreciated ...And at least I've got the trees and basic connections down!

The Raconteurs is the best thing he's done though, Brendan Benson is also a good songwriter, and when they bounce ideas off each other they just seem to get even better They're wayyyyy over due another album ;-) -

Hmmm.... This is really hard to not just run through everything I listen to The Raconteurs Queens of the Stone Age Blink-182 Jimmy Eat World Kings of Leon (Albums 1,2,3 ONLY!) The Subways Deaf Havana Twin Atlantic Gogol Bordello Foo Fighters (no particular order) Daaaamn, my musical taste is bad -
I personally have no real attachment to CDs or Vinyl (probably due to me being 17 and therefore very much a part of the downloads age). I just generally buy what's going to work out cheapest. Having artwork, books etc, are a nice touch, but not very important to me There is still a turntable and a massive amount of vinyl in our front room, however the speakers are busted so most of it has gone unlistened to for a looooong time. In terms of what I play, my main instrument is drums, which I have played for around 3 years (and I play in two bands, one Alt-Rock and the other more Post-Hardcore). I also play guitar, however this is more for my own amusement and I don't go much further than rock songs with it. At the moment I've been listening to a lot of Gogol Bordello, who are a group of Russian and Ukrainian musicians who live in New York, and have basically formed their own genre of Gypsy-Punk. A sample of their greatness : and Timmie, that Goyte cover is awesome

W2W stands for Wall-to-wall buildings, which (as the name suggests) are as wide as the size of lot they are on, so two W2Ws next to each other have no space between them (if that makes sense). There are literally thousands on the STEX alone, so a quick search of either term should bring up loads for you to choose from

Check out this: It comes with several files that block certain wealth buildings, depending on which you use. You simply place the files you want in your plugins, and the buildings it refers to will be blocked. Then remove the files to get them back again While I'm here, does anyone know any good mods to replace the game's default ferry automata with something a little less... colourful? Thanks

This is looking pretty good :) However it would be nice to see some close-up shots. Also, are there any slope/terrain mods at work here? If not I would seriously recommend you try some :)
-
These look really well made, however they could look infinitely better with a carefully chosen terrain and tree mod, as well as some community-made buildings

No SAM? C'mon, who has grey streets outside their house? Have you ever seen a city that has such a huge block of industrial on one side before? My contribution. I'll get you started: Look at that atrociously flat-coloured water. Slate me

Update 92 | Bakudo | Multi Mosaic Mania (MMM)!
Lordyboy96 commented on Forthwall's City Journal Entry in Shushtrepistaz Outlet
Damn, beautiful as always :) Its amazing how much more realistic the long ground to elevated transitions look now. Also thanks for the reply, been looking for a set like that for a while now :) -
Beautiful as always :) Will we be seeing those static freight cars uploaded anywhere soon? I desperately need something like that in several of my cities ;)

Update 91 | Bakudo | Game on!
Lordyboy96 commented on Forthwall's City Journal Entry in Shushtrepistaz Outlet
Awesome as always, what are you using on the sides of the railway trench? (I need them!) -
I've just started work on a new region, I've not played it that much yet and so so far most of my time has been spent rendering it, dropping trees and building a basic road network. I'm trying to go for a more organic approach and resisting the temptation to build up one tile while leaving all the others. Anyway, here is what I've done so far: The more geographically aware of you (?) may recognise the map as Annecy, however I'm not trying to replicate that area, I just think its quite a nice region to build a city in. The north-west settlement has a population of around 3,600, the eastern one has around 2,000 people and the south-western has 2,836. (Also, I haven't decided names for any of them yet ) This looks very nice, however some of the shorelines look very square, especially with only farms next to them. I guess you are planning to build up cities along the coastlines? Also, nice Spurs badge, good to see there's at least one other supporter on here

Dayum, awesome as always! My only piece of (constructive) criticism would be that the bay looks a little congested. But still, way better than anything I could ever make ;)

Update 88 | Czrik | Central District
Lordyboy96 commented on Forthwall's City Journal Entry in Shushtrepistaz Outlet
Oooohh that's weird, the building in the 6th picture is about 20 mins from my house. (I forget the name of it, but its in Leeds, UK). I didn't know someone had made it. Beautiful as always :) -
Thank you for the kind words Is there any different types of water you could recommend to me? Also, does anyone have any tips on making the bank have smooth edges? (Since you can see it goes kinda jagged towards the bottom left) Yep. The is good, and will make your streams vibrant. Here is an example of me using it Yes but yoshi, there's a difference between you using something well and the rest of us mere mortals being able to pull it off Anyway, will have to try it out

Had the Peg PPond kit for a while now, but only just started to get to grips with it. This is my first real creation with it, constructive criticism welcome Seriously, slate it! (Theres a lot of things I could improve, I just need solutions!) @Mitsos, that looks awesome. Could be mistaken for a painting IMO

Take a look at this: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=12096.240 The lesson on farms (on the page I linked) has some really good tips on how to get the city edges to look natural, and has a nice work around for getting street neighbour connections. The entire guide is also full of great tips for building a city

Hmm... yeah I should probably have clicked the link first haha

You sure? http://sc4devotion.c...p?topic=15238.0 The picture below is the same exact network: (For the record, this plugin reduces the number of lanes from 6 to 4, and it ain't out yet.) That image just looks like RHW4 to me. It could be used to replace the standard maxis 6-lane highway, however unless it adds starter pieces and/or puzzle pieces (as RHW already does) then it could not run alongside it.
