  1. Welcome back, sorta...!

Hey guys, We've updated everything! I know you're not seeing much more than the forums right now but that's on purpose. I've decided to disable the other sections because there are still post-upgrade tasks that running in the background. As these tasks complete, I'll be bringing online the STEX, City Journals, Chat, and other pages as well as a few completely new sections. For now, we'll have to hang around the forums. You may find things to be a bit slow, again, those background tasks on the server are still running. I'll leave the forums open for now and see how things are running, but you can expect occassional periods where the system will not be available, and expect some slow load times for the next little while. Hopefully, we'll get all the other systems back online quickly. I wish there was another way to handle this, but the way things are set up, this is the only way... Thanks for being patient the last couple days... If you have any questions let me know below. Notes - You will need to sign-in with your Display Name. The system has done away with both a "username" and a "Display Name" and now there is just Display Name which is what you will need to use to sign in.
  2. At first, perhaps. But modmakers are pretty good at keeping their mods updated, don't think there's any real cause for concern.

Same. I got the error after I submitted the picture, and further attempts to edit/fix the information resulted in the EX2 error as well. Should be fixed now.

Save it to your computer then upload it and see if that works. Import from URL can be wonky. it seems that I find the problem is when try to load the chat server, for somehow it ends up cant find server though nothing happened in the chat windows other than looping stuff.. here what I got when try to load the chat in firefox 39 (latest update) it keep looking up, even for minutes I wait, nothing happened... The chat is a 3rd party service so it's not in our direct control, I'm not sure what to suggest, could it be a firewall or something like that...
  5. bugs Simtropolis 9.0.x - Bugs & Issues Report Thread

As mentioned in my tweet, there was a network incident last night at around 11:30 PM EST at the datacenter. They were attempting to offload network traffic while they resolved the issue and during that time we had intermittent connectivity. They did resolve the issue a couple hours later. Currently, I'm not seeing any issues with chat... try again?

Popular contributors is on the forum main page sidebar, bottom. There are no restrictions for gif avatars.
  7. Kevin Van Ord at Gamespot spends some time with the new Anno 2205 game at E3. Anno 2205 is the successor to the futuristic city-build Anno 2070. This next installment sends you a couple hundred years into the future where you're tasked with building a city on the moon. Anyone else played the Anno series of games?
  8. Searching issues...

    We're looking into it...
  9. Welcome back, sorta...!

BBCODE should be parsed (or parsing) for all of STEX/PLEX... Yes, I'll try to get this button back soon, it was handy! The right click is hijacked by the Tables plugin for the wysiwyg editor... you can control-right click to bypass it, but I'm trying to find a better way.
  10. You can get Stylish for Safari here: https://github.com/350d/stylish
  11. It's now time for us to cast our vote on possibly the single most important issue facing Simtropolis today. There are very few examples in the history of online communities, indeed, all of human history, where one part of a community choosing to decide, for itself and by itself, whether, YES to go with Round Avatars or NO to remain with Square Avatars. I believe that many of you here in this thread-poll, many of you that believe in a progressive community, will vote YES for Round Avatars. That we will be proud to click that YES button, and be proud to reply when our children or perhaps our grandchildren, will ask us in twenty or thirty years: How did you vote on the Simtropolis referendum? You were there, in July 2015. You were there when Simtropolians were asked to decide freely on the future of their digital avatars. You were there when Simtropolis had the option to become Round or remain Square. What did you do in July 2015? You said "Yes to Round Avatars!" Before you cast your vote, switch your Theme from Round to Square to remind yourself of where we were, and then vote YES to Round Avatars, and help pave our way forward to brighter future. This poll will close in a few days, and the will of the community on this important matter will not only determine the fate of avatar shapes, but the very future of SImtropolis itself.
  12. The Rounders have it. The community has expressed their desire to move forward with round avatars! Cheers!
  13. We've got to fight back against the machine! Conformity be darned--variety is the spice of life, and as appealing as round avatars may be, they are ultimately boring. I like the idea of placing the avatar in a white panel so that it blends seamlessly. Would it be possible to use an interface in the avatar selection window that overlays the desired shape onto the avatar before uploading? This would allow for round avatars and make both square and round avatars available and blend seamlessly. And besides Dirk's "laziness", is there any other disadvantage to maintaining the two themes, like higher server costs? I mean, the part controlling the avatar window can hardly be more than a few lines that can be copy-pasted when discussing theme maintenance (if, in fact, a simpler solution is unavailable--I'm not a website coding whiz). No it is 100% pure laziness you understand. The technical difficulty is miniscule. Each time I need to make a modification or enhancement to the base theme, I then have to export that base theme out, and reimport it into the Square theme and then re-set all the preferences for the theme to match. It may sound trivial when written, but when I'm modifying and tweaking the base themes several times a week responding to issues or adding new features, and after every upgrade patch, that extra work just to support Square-heads... like I said, becomes a drag. Compound this task for months and years, and then I'll begin to dread ever having to make theme changes or fixes at all ... So no, I won't manage two themes where one is just for squares. But I'll tell you what. If the vote closes and we are within 5% margin, I will consider it a dead heat -- only then will I agree to manage two themes.

Ok, another fix has been applied -- hopefully this one will squash it. Again please let me know.
  15. bugs Simtropolis 9.0.x - Bugs & Issues Report Thread

This hopefully should be resolved. If you encounter any after this post please note the time and let me know here. (PM me or use the @mention to get my attention.)

Thanks, all, I'm working on tracking down the issue with Error code: EX1054 ... sorry, just bear with us

If anyone else has this issue, please report in, too. Thanks, guys!
  18. I'm too lazy to make my avatar round...soooo what about us lazy members? The system should make it round for me... just because i'm lazy doesn't mean i shouldn't be accommodated!
  19. Dirk said this earlier: "Aside from the fact that as a community we must arrive at one decision on this critical issue, having to manage a duplicate theme just for square/round avatars is a drag for me." I agree we must arrive at one decision, but why could that one decision be to not change at all? And personally I do not see how this is a "critical issue" stated by Dirk, nor do I see a reason as to why someone would want to change. It is all very enormously critical. And I trust we all understand this is all critically tongue-in-cheek. I don't expect a quorum, annnnnnnnd... in truth, Simtropolis isn't a true democracy... Still I did promise to put it up to a vote so anyone who cares enough either way can toss in their vote ... because, again, as well all know how absolutely essentially critical this topic is. But I'm happy to extend the poll for the rest of the week... though I still suspect the Rounders will win
  20. Nope! Aside from the fact that as a community we must arrive at one decision on this critical issue, having to manage a duplicate theme just for square/round avatars is a drag for me. Poll closes Sunday 11:59pm EST!
  21. We must choose one or the other.
  22. Welcome back, sorta...!
