changing the traffic simulation pathing level in Network Addon Mod (NAM)
guineapig posted a topic in SC4 - Custom Content
I just wanted to ask before I try anything to avoid any pottential devistating effect to my region. I was thinking of changing the traffic simulation to a higher pathing level, (currently I have it set to slightly better than the Maxis default). I was wondering what the best way to go about this is. I'm assuming that I have to uninstall and then reinstall the NAM from scratch and reselect it. However I'm a bit worried due to all the updates that I have installed already... I don't want to miss anything and I don't exactly have a list to go by as to what I already have installed. Of course it might be simpler than I expect but I wanted to check with the experts. Any thoughts or suggestions? -
I recently started messing around with the PEG OWW2 lots and I am loving them all. However after a few hours of city building I noticed my advisor suggesting that I build Ferrys to help my transporation problem. I checked and sure enough none of the three ferrys that I build were being used at all! I triple checked to make sure that they were connected by roads (transit enabled like the Maxis version) and demolished them several times and rebuilt them to no avail. Then I thought maybe my shoreline wasn't deep enough or whatever so I replaced all the peg lots with the Maxis ferry in the exact same locations and all three started being used by my sims immediately. Anyone esle experience this or have a clue as to what I could be missing?

I found another good one: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=22620 This has over 900 CS$ jobs!!! And this one: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=18348 It's a cool looking building and have over 1k CS$ jobs! There are a few more that are exclusively CS$ but they are difficult to find. I lost the links but if I find them again I'll post them for you! You have to really play with the search engine sometimes. Try typing stuff like 'CS$' followed by a space and a random letter. You can also try 'C$' using the same method. This will avoid many results that are actually C$$ or C$$$. Good luck!

Thanks fot the tips all. I actually tried meteors along with all the other disasters. It doesn't work at getting rid of the landfill but it produces some interesting results none the less. =)

I can think of a few big buildings that deal exclusively with CS$ jobs and both I found on this site: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=22620 and https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=2125 They are both ploppable too! Hope these help!!!

I think there is a maximum distance they will travel which is more than simply a neighboring city. In other words you could have 2 cities which are connected by a small area that's nothing but highway and wilderness. However I am not certain of the distance, it might just be a small square... maybe 2? Don't quote me on this though, I'm sure some of our experts here will be able to more precisely answer your question.

I have been using all sorts of ways to get rid of garbage in my region including the PEG garbage docks (which I love by the way) but it does sort of feel like cheating at times. I want to be able to use real landfills early on in the life of a new city and eventually as the city becomes wealthy, send the garbage elsewhere. I actually tried this in one city and when the time came to clean up my metropolis I added every means I could think of to get rid of garbage and my lanfills did indeed empty to a certain point.... Then it just seems to stop. I have about 2 dozen little squares of lanfill that I just can't seem to get rid of even though 100% of my garbage is now being either exported or sent into the void and I have a bunch of recycling plants as well (just in case). I was able to rezone the newly emptied landfill lots but of course there is no way to get rid of filled ones. So I was wondering what the formula is for emptying out a landfill zone? Has anyone run tests on this?

United Islands Of Territories: Region View

I absolutely love it. It's elegant and never cluttered looking. My only question is what is the climate like on these islands because I can't help but notice a lack of any sort of beaches. That would be the one thing I would try to find space for unless of course the weather does not constitute such activities. -

hkabat-forum-threads Do you know the Ryugyong Hotel? An 330m asian skycraper...
guineapig replied to scasta1982's topic in Architecture & Urban Planning
Would you rather I start a duplicate thread instead? I just can't win... Anyway, I ask because construction started back up again on the hotel in September of last year according to this article and there is a new-ish picture of the progress on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryugyong_Hotel Also maybe somebody else has found a BAT of this recently and didn't post it here because they didn't know that this thread existed??? It's not unfeasible.
