Hey guys, after a long absence I am officially back. This is one of my older BATs from a few months ago. COMMUNIST MONUMENT - ok fine, i renamed it communism since socialism would be a fist and not the hammer and sickle -------------------------------------------------------------------- The following BAT is a monument, adorned with the hammer and sickle, a symbol used by socialists, communists, and others to represent solidarity between workers and farmers. The marble is enscribed "L'Internationale sera la genre humane", the last ending line of the chorus from L'Internationale, a song used by anarchists, socialists, communists, and the International Democracy movement. Again, this is not an in-your-face upload, and I am not trying to endorse communism, Stalinism, or the soviet union... relax, this is just a monument. I belong to a school of thought that sees Stalin, Mao, Kim Jong Il, and Pol Pot as a few examples of extreme reactionaries that spit in the face of socialism and turned it into corrupt, tyrannical systems that would make Karl Marx and Engles commit suicide. This is a symbol not often found in the STEX, and I'm adding it to the collection of socialist monuments for all those who may want to use it as part of city journals, etc... The Lot - Size: 2x2 Type: Landmark Cost to build: $2500 Monthly Cost: $50 per month Cost to Bulldoze: $1500 Dependencies? No -

RAHEJA PLATINUM TOWER, Mumbai, India - UPGRADED! New Sidebuildings added, nightlights fixed, pictures upgraded. Two versions, both landmark, a 11x7 campus, and 5x4 standalone tower, are included. When I saw there were hardly any buildings from India in the STEX, I was inspired to make some of my own. This is my second-ever upload to the Exchange. I have made this tower armed with little knowledge about its architecture except for a few renderings from the K Raheja Developers. Therefore this may not be the most accurate rendering of the building. As soon as I have more information, I will update this tower. Tell me what you think! Changelog - 7/28/08 - Currently working to fix nightlight problem and to come up with a bigger update that includes the campus and IT building complex. 8/2/08 - Fixed Nightlight Problems, Updated pictures, total upgrade: added sidebuildings. 8/3/08 - Plans announced for a commercial version of the tower as well. ATTENTION! : THIS LOT HAS ONE DEPENDENCY - LOOK BELOW Raheja Platinum Tower Location: Under Construction in Mumbai Date of Completion: Not known (yet) Developers: K Raheja Universal Corp. Architects: J P Parekh & Sons Architects Description: Mumbai's skyscraper boom has almost entirely consisted of residential highrise development. The reasons for these are many, but namely because residential skyscrapers, especially with integrated retail, hospitality, and anemities, produce far less strain on infrsastructure than their purely commercial counterparts, whose workers would all need to commute to the tower every day. Secondly, for the longest time, India's banking, service, R&D and IT companies preferred glassy, sprawling lowrise campuses -- more of a college campus look and feel -- than towers. With infrastructure redevelopment now likewise booming in Mumbai, coupled with a change in corporate culture, the future landmark skyscraper projects proposed in Mumbai are increasingly commercial in nature. Leading this change from the front is one of Mumbai's largest real estatedevelopers K Raheja Universal, who are actively promoting commercial skyscraper construction as a necessity for Mumbai, and the only way to halt sprawl. For the last couple years, their company has talked about a "landmark" purely commercial skyscraper that will break the mental/cultural dam holding back corporate skyscraper construction in Mumbai. They called this development "Raheja Platinum". source: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=144841 Being an Indian Myself, I'm pretty amazed with the quality these architects have acheived. Type: Landmark, 11x7 Lot, also included a standalone tower version, Landmark, 5x4 Cost to Plop: $60,000 Dependencies: Palm Pack1 by whitelighter Monthly Cost: $60 per month Enjoy this new building, everyone, keep a lookout for updates, and most of all, have fun! Mod Edit: Fixed broken dependency link. -

Hey guys, this is going to be my 3rd ever upload to the STEX, and I’m quickly getting better and better at BAT-ing. This time you’ll notice that the lights on this building are much better that what I usually was capable of. The building information is at the bottom of this page. This is the CenterPoint Energy Plaza from downtown Houston, on 1111 Louisiana Street, and it’s a cool looking building that I’ve always thought the STEX was in need of, so I believe y’all will like this one. I might come up with even better versions later, but this is the best so far. The Plaza is a 226 m tall building, and it has a characteristic crown. You will probably notice the lack of roof junk. There is a reason for this – the tower has no roof junk, no kidding! Click on the link below to go the architects’ page to see. The air conditioners, ventilators, coolers, everything is on a separate building that I decided not to include for the anti-ugliness factor… hehehe... CenterPoint Energy Plaza By Anik - 3rd Upload! Origin: Houston, Texas Finished: 1974, a 90ft. extension and the building’s characteristic “hole in the roof” crown was added in 1996 Architects: DMJM H&N | AECON Architects – click here to visit their site page on the tower Purpose: Headquarters for a large natural gas company, CenterPoint Energy. Game Info: Cost To Build: $65,000 Monthly Cost: $30 Bulldoze Cost: $3,500 Lot Size: 4 x 4 Type: Landmark (Ploppable, not Growable) I am also thinking of making a growable version of this tower as a CO$$$ that grows on a Houston tileset. Enjoy! Visit my site! Go to www.aniksdimension.com. Or how about my CJ, Astea? -
Thai Farmer Bank (Kasikorn Thai Bank) V.2 Update By Thailand Design Team
anik commented on on001222's file in Commercial
I actually dont mind the whole V2 thing. It's a great thing, actually, that when so many random uploaders are spamming the STEX with useless uploads, we should find BATters so serious about their work, that they take time to ensure that each of their buildings is perfected till it becomes a work of art. Since the quality of the content is so impeccable, I have no problem with the reupload with V2. What do you think? -

This is quite incorrect in terms of scale. The blackbird should be almost 5 times the size it is in that picture. Furthermore, no military would be unwise enough to keep a defenseless, valuable spy plane out in the open where it is susceptible to missile strikes. I highly suggest a reinforced bunker as well, along with a much bigger blackbird. But good effort though, the fixes wont take long. 3/5

The nightlighting is the least of my worries. I agree with cockatoo about the blandness of the lot... and the lack of much roof junk. The building lacks a a realistic look. The number of floors inside that the nightlights suggest is waaaay too many for this short a building. I would suggest putting more detail to the outside, roof, as well as doing something about that dark inner atrium, perhaps putting some nightlights there as well

dude.. thats not dark night. It's normal night, I can tell by the hue of the roof. a blue tint has been added, theres no reduction in light. also, try to achieve some more realism through roof junk, more windows, less lit windows, windows lit in a more random pattern than so uniformly. i rate this a 3/5. good work.

It's a city journal dude. Go to the conveniently named "City Journal" section and read away. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
