Hey, I just revived my nation (Metropolitan Houston) and tried to rejoin the region, but found that it had been passworded. What's the deal?
-
First off, lay off the caps lock. We can hear you just fine with normal type. Second, which version did you download - the version with or without the puzzle piece starters?
-
Still alive. Just under the effects of RLS.

I found, with the old one anyways, that sims wouldn't use the HSR station unless there was another form of mass transit connected to it (buses don't count). Trains won't stop at it otherwise for some reason. I found the easiest way around this is to tie the el-train connection into a subway network immediately after departing from the HSR station.

SCS is a case of EA and Tilted Mill trying to tell us what we want instead of ACTUALLY listening to us. No one wanted this joke of a game. We wanted an improvement on SC4. This is not it.

I had a thought regarding the HSR/GHSR-to-Rail transition some people had been asking about in the past. If I remember right, the hang-up has been because the HSR is technically monorail reskinned, and heavy rail trains can't travel on that network and vice-versa. But what if the HSR pieces were rewritten to overwrite RAIL instead of monorail? HSR is basically an upgraded version of rail anyways, so shouldn't they be made of the same network? If both rail and HSR are of the same network, then there shouldn't be any issue with transition and trains operating on both "networks". This would also mean that monorail could still be reskinned for Mag-Lev (much like HSR is now) should anyone make an attempt to design such a network, as Mag-Lev is not compatible with another network like HSR is. Could you imagine operating BOTH in a city at the same time? Warrior: I apologise if this means a lot of work for you, trying this idea if you do. I just thought it might work a little better visually.

Okay guys, I started a couple new nations recently (the Texian Empire over in the IDU, and Texian Simtropolis here in our region), and they both have claims in the region. Texian Simtropolis claims the pink area south of Vartorgan (as a subnational entity within the Empire), and the Texian claims direct control over the enclave at the mouth of the Rio Seguin in Metropolitan Houston (a name for it will be coming shortly).
-
As long as no one has a claim on it (and I don't think anyone does) it's all yours.
-
Welcome to the region. Feel free to claim a spot on simzebu's map for your nation.

I didn't know where to post this, so I thought here would be best, because while I am not a newb, some newbs might have this question as well. Is there any way to change your username if you're unhappy with the one you first came up with?

I am seeking a set of measurements for BAT purposes. I seek: the dimensions for a single square on the building grid (ex. 1x1) the heights of the elevated transit modes in the game (elevated highway, elevated train, monorail/HSR) Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I plan to begin on my first BAT project soon, and will need these dimensions.
-
Looks great warrior, and for the record the interest didn't die, it just went quiet for a while.
-
It used to be. APTX made it, but all of his BATs have been pulled from the site. Here's the new location: http://home.s04.itscom.net/aptx/bat/elrail.html

If you're using primarily HSR and El Train/Subway for connections into the hub, then might I suggest looking up the Tokyo Central Station. There are 4 HSR connections and something like 7 El Train connections. It might be a little too large for anything other than the large map, but at least it's an alternative.

Does anyone know where I can find the download for the Dusit Dubai?

40 days seems like a pretty short time to be delegate. I think three or four months might work a little better.

Here's a couple rules I've come up with that I believe should be included in our constitution: PUBLIC DISSENT Any nation that attempts to create public dissent within the region, regardless of reason or intent, shall face permanent banishment from the region. ADMISSIONS In order to gain admission into the Simtropolis region, a prospective member must have been a member of Simtropolis forum for a minimum of three months. Admission is also availiable to members of the SC4Devotion forumprovided they meet the same three month minimum period of enrollment on their forum in addition to joining the Simtropolis forum if they have yet to do so. If anyone has any objections with any part of these rules, or can think of additional rules to be added, please feel free to post them.

I'm sure someone's made this suggestion before, but I'd like to see someone on the NDEX team create a BAT of the never-built Bank of the Southwest Tower. Originally supposed to be built in Houston in the early 80's, this tower fell victim to the Oil Bust that hit Houston pretty hard during the early to mid 80's. I included a couple links that have pictures of what it was to look like and how it was supposed to be lit, as well as information on the size of the building: http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=4160 http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=bankofstreetsouthwesttower-houston-tx-usa Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure he was pointing the finger at you to direct any possible suspicion away from himself.

I suppose you're right about the election issue. That's probably why we never really needed it before. It only would really be effective if we had a whole lot of people in the region, like over 100 or something. I think, however, it might be wise to set some of these issues in stone anyways, even if we don't start a new region. Establishing set criteria, approved by a majority vote (we have enough to at least do this), for admittance into the region might help us protect the region from the threat of invasion.
