Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Should I feel guilty? I agree, I love the green. Gives the whole model a good little "pop." Regarding the other, flat roof texture - with all the warmth in the colors of the building's other surfaces and textures, I think it needs a bit of "cool" to balance it. One thing I tend to do in my models is use a give-and-take when it comes to warm and cool; if the building walls are warmer colors, creams or red brick or salmon-colored stucco, I tend to do a cooler toned rooftop, something with a bit of blue or purple. Just the slightest hint. And vice versa - if it's a paler, cooler color scheme for the walls and other textures, I'll add some tiny hint of warmth to the flat roof surface. This is where the tools and tweaks in Photoshop (and other imaging programs) come in handy - you can adjust color balances and hue and saturation and all that to find the right mix of stuff. Another update: I'm mostly done with skylights, I only need to model a few things and then I can start working on textures. I'm quite happy with glass material of glasshouse. At first I though I will have to model the interior, but then it turned out that the architects used three types of glass in construction of glasshouse. And the most important one - the one in the roof, was a heavy, ribbed glass. No wonder that on one photo I have it looks nothing like glass, more like solid material Now I wonder if they used the same glass in construction of skylights...

Looks very good, nice work on the details. (It might be just me but aren't the friezes above first and second floor a bit too flat?) It's a pity though that the alternate depth in facades won't be recreated. You can see on the real row that those "bumps" do a great deal in fighting the monotony of the street.

As for the roof itself - I'm making the version from mid 20's, so the third and forth "arms" of the building will be empty (actually, I'm thinking about making the addition on the third arm but I'm afraid it will obscure view of the greenhouse of the second arm). There weren't any HVAC units back then on the roof. Yes A little white-marble gem Ok, time for update. I remember saying once to Aaron that this building isn't that complicated. Well, I take it back, the roof itself is as complicated as they get. But I have most of it done, all that's left are skylights and of course the greenhouse.

Ok, so, I've been working hard on Hotel Pennsylvania those last few days. Here's how it looks for now: As you can see modeling is done in about 75%. I have to model buildings on the roof and all the small utility buildings in the lower part of the hotel (not the courts, I finished modeling work in there ). I'm quite happy with textures of brick and stone. I will add (probably) a bit of grime to the stone but that's all. And as a bonus: HD Render

I have three different kinds of workstations but that's all. I don't see the point in sweating over interior that is barely visible when I could spend that time working on next BAT. For now I only plan to completely model interior of Penn Station glass concourse, I doubt I will model a glass-facade building anytime soon after this one. This is the finished night view; I know it's not perfect but it's good, theoretically I could add some lights on roof but at this point work with this model became so tedious and rather unpleasant due to lags in max that I just want to export it and be done with this building. And on top of that the month is coming to an end and it would be nice to release something for International Month. I might have to turn off the lights on the top floor (or delete the furniture on it), for some reason after adding furniture there some light glitches started to appear on renders :/
