Interesting stuff about Northern Ireland too. Both the media and government do seem a bit England centric in their scare mongering (which is wierd, considering Britian's msot violent city in Glasgow, which is now said to be the most violent city i nwestern Europe). Still, I remain optimistic on the crime and punishment issue. I live in a pretty poo area, where we are seeing a rise in gang culture, but when I think back it was always there, it's jsut the new generation of thugs are committing their crimes in a media dominated era. As the eye for an eye issue. I think that's going to far. My opinion is to send prisoners to labour camps, where they can better the economy. If the crime is money related, have them work off the debt, paying back what they stole and covering police/court costs. If the crime is murder, molestation, rape etc, then jsut let them work until their sentecnes are up. Hard work might set a few of them straight, and those doomed to repeat their actions will continue to pay for their own messes.[/q] See now that is something i would rather see done, instead of them just sitting in a cell rotting. Id like to see them doing some sort of good with the time they have. I dont know, my opinions on this stuff is confusing at best, i dont want to see others get hurt, or criminals get beaten, but something has to be done so people who think they want to commit a crime will think twice about it b/c of the penalties that will come. I guess my view of the eye for an eye is one sided and never went further then that without understanding all there is within it. Anyway lets just hope something good happens.
  20. NHL 09 offseason talk

All the series were better then the ranger-devils series, 4-1 rangers bleh. My devils are out, but i still have the penguins to root for.
  21. 1 in 100 Americans behind bars

Hey i never said cut off someones hands, i said smack them with a cane, where did you guys come up with cut them off? Anyway, point taken hamish. There will never be a good way to do things, but people feel they can go take a life and if they get caught, oh well, they get to spend some time in jail. But i read it all and again, point taken.
  22. 1 in 100 Americans behind bars

IMO i believe in the eye for an eye formula, you take a life, you're life is taken from you. You steal/robbery or whatever in that nature, you should have your hands caned. It all sounds cruel i know, but what if this is how it was, how many lives would be saved with such harsh penalties. I mean, grown men going out of their way to rape 80-90 yr old people, stealing their money, imo thats really heartless to do and deserves a heartless penalty for it. That old saying, dont do to others as you would not want done to you... ring a bell? They adapt the eye for an eye format, bet you will see a lot less crimes on the news, thats for damn sure!
  23. Freedom Tower plans found in public trash can

Originally posted by: TRNSTN Originally posted by: Bumdark It's pretty clear those plans did not find themselves in the trash can by accident - that's one of the best methods of transferring information among obscure groups (with obscure intentions). I mean, how many of us bother looking into trash cans? Thankfully one did, and found them and removed them... And is it just me, or is the fact that two highly sensitive plan documents were found in trash cans, almost simultaneously, in neighboring countries, sound like too much of a coincidence?quote> I don't really like conspiracy theories, but it is very suspicious that this happens in two neighboring countries, one especially priding itself on defence and security. Perhaps this was set up as to give warning to the general public that the "terrorists" are getting ready to do something, so that means we can start tightening security around the rest of the country and limit freedoms because they're getting access to sensitive information too easily. I cannot possibly imagine why anyone would just put them in the trash can. Terrorists are not that stupid, to take a few pages and leave the rest to get "picked up"? If I wanted to transfer highly classified information I'd just mail it.... why the trash can. It makes it sound like some how if they tranfferred it though normal means their mail would get opened and checked, which is infringing on people's privacy rights, and we know how much Americans value that. Terrorists can easily work the system, walk into the planning office dressed up nicely like a good ol' American, ask politely for the plans and say it's for research and other architect purposes, brig it home package it nicely and send it to the right people. Where in there do they need to be in garbage cans? Honestly this works very well for the authorities and anit-terrorist and government to constantly feed fear and suspicion into people's minds, it keep them going on the fact that there are still terrorists so it justifies radical government changes in security, which in the end will probably turn American into a scary police state. This ploy makes terrorists seem stupid and careless, and very low-tech, and the average American swooped into save the day just in time before the trash truck came. Just a thought.quote> The hell with that, aint taking away or limiting my freedoms. This is all bullcrap just to have our freedoms taking away. [Marc- Vulgar language is not allowed.] Freedom is what its all about among a few other things, and no way am i losing my freedoms b/c of so-called terrorist.
  24. Say Hello to CITIES XL!

I agree, new name sounds like some shirt or pant size, rather then a city simulating game. Oh well, lets hope the game is 100x better then the new name.
